I'm trying to remove a workspace (or clone it to look like the parent, but I can't seem to do either). When I try, however, I get this message: Cannot remove workspace test_workspace, because it has a non-empty default group.
From what I've read, it means that there are active files (as shown by the 3 little green dots to the right of stream). I've tried everything to get those to go away but they just seem to stick around and therefore result in me being unable to remove the stream.
Alternatively, I could completely wipe out the stream and replace with the parent version, but I can't seem to do that either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You need to purge the active files in this workspace.
Open the workspace and click on the "Default Group" filter -> select the files -> right click -> revert to backed.
If no files appear in the "Default Group" filter, click on the stranded filter and do the same as above to revert those files.
If you are using AccuRev 6.x, click on the outgoing mode and click on "Member" and "Stranded" to get a list of the active files.
Once you have done that, you can remove the workspace.
Similar problem here, fixed it following #jstanley's comment.
Open Workspace-> select it-> right click-> Edit.
In that prompt, I set the Location path to where I wanted it to put it on my local machine. For some reason, it was unable to "create a folder" and threw errors, so make sure Append Workspace name is unchecked and you select a folder that already exists.
It then populated the folder on my local machine attached to the workspace. And revert to basis worked, so afterwards I could remove the workspace and delete the folder.

Is there a way to override/replace the local changes from the version controls (like svn, CVS)? In Eclipse, I can right click on the project->team->synchornize.. then it shows all changes comparing to the repository. Then, If I need to override the file, "update and override" option is there. Correspondingly, Is there such a way to replace local changes in a class or a package with one click in IntelliJ Idea?

For single file you can follow below steps :
a) Right click on file
b) Git ---> Show History
c) It will show a window in which you can see the history of changes, select a commit,right click on it. Select Get.

If I understand the question right, I think you need to revert your local changes then update from the remote. You can do this at a class or package level, or on the whole project.
I think it is going to be an two way process.
Revert the changes (Ctrl+Alt+Z).
Update the project (Ctrl+T).
Choose the project(if you have multiple files changed), right click -> GIT -> Compare with branch(select the branch which you want to override your changes) -> it will show the differences it detected -> click "Get" icon, it prompts "Some files were locally modified" -> choose "Overwrite Modified Files"
But sometimes it doesn't work well.
Another simple but dangerous way is to use git command:
git fetch --all
git reset --hard origin/master
(Then all your local change will be lost)
I've got a workspace backed to my collaboration stream (CS), the CS has a parent stream (Parent).
In my workspace I changed a file with version Parent/1 and then promoted it to the collaboration stream some times. Its version became CS/2.
Then I got an update from the Parent and found that I don't need to keep my changes in that file and purged it on the CS. Its version became "CS/2*" on the CS and "Parent/2" in my workspace.
Now I'm trying to make some changes in the file in my workspace and promote it to the CS again, but I've got the message "change package merge required" for the file.
If I understand correctly, it can't be promoted due to the file version in my workspace is not derived from CS/2. How can I resolve the issue and promote new changes to the CS?
P.S. Moreover I have a pack of such files - about 70 files. How can I resolve the problem for the whole pack of files?
Open the issue you are associating your promotion with.
Click on Changes tab.
Select the file from the list in changes tab.
Right click -> Remove.
Now promote using this issue.
the only way that i have found to fix this is to use the "send to>issue (specifying ancestor)" command from the version browser tree.
open accurev
view>view streams (pick your depot)
click the "active issues" icon in the upper-right corner
click the "show active issues" icon under the problem stream
right-click>"send to change palatte" on the source issue
right-click>"browse versions" on the problem file
select "everything" in the "show" dropdown
right-click>"send to">"issue (specifying basis)" on the latest version in the current stream
click on the earliest ancestor (this should be a common ancestor of all versions)
enter the target ticket number and click "ok"
these steps should work for any source/target issue, even "unaffiliated" changes. technically, you shouldn't have to "show everything" and choose the oldest version. you really just need to get back to a common ancestor.
I created some dummy projects. Now I don't see any way to delete the projects that I don't want. Per this suggestion I can delete files, the project is going away but there is traces of it still available. For example, on the Recent Projects you can still see the name of the project you just deleted. So I am thinking there should be another (and really easy way) to delete a project.
Press the Del (or fn and delete) key to delete a project from the Recent Projects list.
Vote for this issue to make it more obvious and user friendly.
close project first, or until this dialog appear, then hover your mouse on project you want to delete from history, then press Del

On occasion, even with deletion of the project, some tidbits are left behind in the following Windows paths:

This has been proven to be problematic - for example, if a new project is created using a previously deleted project name, it will create the project with data stored in the above paths, at least, this has been my experience.
The only way to TRULY delete the project is to get rid of all the garbage left behind in the aforementioned folders. I would suggest using Search Everything to find more tidbits left in the users temp folders.
In case your project is imported as a module, you can also go to File --> Project Structure and click 'Modules' in the left section. Now you can hit the minus button to remote the module from the project.
You can also click File -> Open project ...
When a file menu appears, you can right click the unwanted project folder and select Delete.
Just figured, I am using Idea Community edition 13.1.1 and the cleanest and easiest way is to go to File > Reopen project > Clear List. I just stumbled upon this menu today. I always thought that is just to clear the latest projects from the view inside the IDE and just realized it is clearing the projects from the main Dialog too.

Also, in IDEA 13.x.x you can go File-> Close Project and you'll land in the window with Recent Projects tab. There pressing Del of Fn + Del on selected project helps .
On OSX Mountain Lion and IDEA 14, with the project open and focused, you can go to file -> close project, then delete the project from your filesystem. This removed all references to the project.
Note that if the project you are deleting is the only project open, closing it will show the welcome dialog, which will still show the project. Deleting the project manually from within your operating system is the next step, and the project will still appear in the welcome dialog until it is closed and shown again, usually by opening another project from the list, or quitting and restarting IDEA.
In my case, I had to delete home/.IntelliJIdea2017.2/config/options/recentProjects.xml
. In my file system (Ubuntu) this file appeared for some weird reason not writable and hold a list of projects I couldn't get rid of. Deleting this file and restarting will force Intellij IDEA to create a new one with an empty list of projects.
All you have to do is go to file - close project - to avoid seeing them again in the menu list and then you delete them from the projects directory.
Does anybody know how to change the default sources folder in Netbeans 7.1.2
I've looked through the files but can't seem to locate where the default directory is stored - I have been through the forums but can't find anything useful..?
currently C:\Users\wayne\Documents\NetBeansProjects\PhpProject7
I have read that if you select a different directory then that becomes the default - this is not the case on my installation

If you are using Windows 7 or vista, you are gonna find it here C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\7.1.2\config\Preferences\org\netbeans\modules\projectui.properties.
However if you you are using windowsXP remember the USERPROFILE enviromental variable is not Users but rather Documents and Settings. Enviromental variables change depending on the operating system you are using. To know whats the USERPROFILE variable for yours just open a command prompt window and type SET USERPROFILE. Or you can simply type %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\$ENTER_YOUR_NETBEANS_VERSION_NUMBER_HERE\config\Preferences\org\netbeans\modules\projectui.properties and that will send you to the correct directory.
It's actually pretty simple.
"C:\Users\wayne\.netbeans\7.1.2\config\Preferences\org\netbeans\modules there is a file called projectui"
is right on the money, but he forgot one detail that you need to keep in mind for changing the directory. If you want to set the default project folder to (in my case):
"C:\Program Files\glassfish-3.1.2.2\glassfish\domains\domain1\docroot"
then you have to double the slashes. Instead of the above link you have to put:
"C:\\Program Files\\glassfish-3.1.2.2\\glassfish\\domains\\domain1\\docroot"
without spaces. I had it that way originally but it hid one of each of them.
In newer versions, right-click on the project you want to move in the 'Projects' tab, and then click 'Move'. This will allow you to move the project to a new directory.
Tip! I found (on Windows 7) that the AppData folder is hidden, so doesn't appear in windows explorer files by default .
To make it visible, open a window for the USERPROFILE directory as above, and use
Organize ->
Folder and Search Options ->
View (tab) ->
Advanced settings list ->
Hidden files and folders radio button to show them.
(Or you can open it via search or run if you type it right)

On the compile tab of the project properties:
If you look at the configuration dropdown it typically shows debug/release/active/all.
I attempted to add another option at one point in the build->configuration manager window, but decided that I didn't want to keep it. I removed it there, but it keeps showing up in the dropdown on the properties, as well as generates a folder by that name.
Does anyone know how to remove this? I can't find any "delete" or otherwise options.
You likely just removed it at one level. Check the configuration manager on your Solution, and then on each of the projects within the Solution, and make sure it's removed from each.
(By going to the drop down, clicking , then remove just as you did before)
