I have a periodic celery task running once per minute, like so:

Where the function pollAPI(), as you might have guessed from the name, polls an API. The catch is that the API has a rate limit that is undisclosed, and sometimes gives an error response, if that limit is hit. I'd like to be able to take that response, and if the limit is hit, decrease the periodic task interval dynamically (or even put the task on pause for a while). Is this possible?
I read in the docs about overwriting the is_due method of schedules, but I am lost on exactly what to do to give the behaviour I'm looking for here. Could anyone help?
You could try using celery.conf.update to update your CELERYBEAT_SCHEDULE.
You can add a model in the database that will store the information if the rate limit is reached. Before doing an API poll, you can check the information in the database. If there is no limit, then just send an API request.
The other approach is to use PeriodicTask from django-celery-beat. You can update the interval dynamically. I created an example project and wrote an article showing how to use dynamic periodic tasks in Celery and Django.
The example code that updates the task when the limit reached:

I have a very slow performing scraper. I know the bottle neck is not the pipeline (i.e. bi_pipeline) because other scrapers that don't use XMLFeedSpider are very fast. Here is my code:

I don't know why but this is very slow. Like 35 items per minute. Where should I look to optimize?
Solved. There was an update script being called on a Trigger in the database. It was a clean up script and the target I was running it on needed a lot of cleaning.
I am using python RQ to execute a job in the background. The job calls a third-party rest API and stores the response in the database. (Refer the code below)

The third-party API is having some rate limit like 7 requests/minute. I have created a retry handler to gracefully handle the 429 too many requests HTTP Status Code and re-queue the job after the a minute (the time unit changes based on rate limit). To re-queue the job after some interval I am using the rq-scheduler.

I am facing issues in re-queueing the failed job back into the task queue. As I can not directly call the sch.enqueue_in(dt.timedelta(seconds=60), job) in the handler code (As per the doc, job to represent the delayed function call). How can I re-queue the job function with all the args and kwargs?

I have a Beam job running on Google Cloud DataFlow that reads data from BigQuery. When I run the job it takes minutes for the job to start reading data from the (tiny) table. It turns out the dataflow job sends of a BigQuery job which runs in BATCH mode and not in INTERACTIVE mode. How can I switch this to run immediately in Apache Beam? I couldn't find a method in the API to change the priority.
Maybe a Googler will correct me, but no, you cannot change this from BATCH to INTERACTIVE because it's not exposed by Beam's API.

If it's really a problem for you that the query is running in BATCH mode, then one workaround could be:
Using the BigQuery API directly, roll your own initial request, and set the priority to INTERACTIVE.
Write the results of step 1 to a temp table
In your Beam pipeline, read the temp table using BigQueryIO.Read.from()
You can configure to run the queries with "Interactive" priority by passing a priority parameter. Check this Github example for details.
Please note that you might be reaching one of the BigQuery limits and quotas as when you use batch, if you ever hit a rate limit, the query will be queued and retried later. As opposed to the interactive ones, when if these limits are hit, the query will fail immediately. This is because BigQuery assumes that an interactive query is something you need run immediately.
I want to be able to delete all job in queue, but I don't know what queue is it. I'm in perform method of my worker and I need to get the "current queue", the queue where the current job is come from.

You can't by design, that's orthogonal context to the job. If your job needs to know a queue name, pass it explicitly as an argument.
This is much faster:

These docs show that you can access all running job information wwhich includes the jid (job ID) and queue name for each job
inside the perform method you have access to the jid with the jid accessor. From that you can find the current job and get the queue name

however, the content of Sidekiq::Workers can be up to 5 seconds out of date, so you should only try this after your worker has been running at least 5 seconds, which may not be ideal
We run multiple short queries in parallel, and hit the 10 sec limit.
According to the docs, throttling might occur if we hit a limit of 10 API requests per user per project.
We send a "start query job", and then we call the "getGueryResutls()" with timeoutMs of 60,000, however, we get a response after ~ 1 sec, we look for JOB Complete in the JSON response, and since it is not there, we need to send the GetQueryResults() again many times and hit the threshold, that is causing an error, not a slowdown. the sample code is below.
our questions are as such:
1. What is a "user" is it an appengine user, is it a user-id that we can put in the connection string or in the query itslef?
2. Is it really per API project of BigQuery?
3. What is the behavior?we got an error: "Exceeded rate limits: too many user/method api request limit for this user_method", and not a throttling behavior as the doc say and all of our process fails.
4. As seen below in the code, why we get the response after 1 sec & not according to our timeout? are we doing something wrong?

Are you saying that even though you specify timeoutMs=60000, it is returning within 1 second but the job is not yet complete? If so, this is a bug.
The quota limits for getQueryResults are actually currently much higher than 10 requests per second. The reason the docs say only 10 is because we want to have the ability to throttle it down to that amount if someone is hitting us too hard. If you're currently seeing an error on this API, it is likely that you're calling it at a very high rate.
I'll try to reproduce the problem where we don't wait for the timeout ... if that is really what is happening it may be the root of your problems.
