I am trying to import a table from Access to SSMS using the Import Wizard but when I do the resulting table has a lot of empty strings instead of the NULL values that I am expecting.
How do I make sure that any null values in Access come through correctly as NULL values in SSMS?

I am having issues importing the dataset to SQL bc it has null values which are part of the data. It either erases the null and shortens my count which is not what I want. I want to be able to import it with the null values. I am using the schemas to create a table -> name of the table "the" -> using wizard import. Is there a way I can achieve this?
Figure it out, I can use the import wizard to import new data. Instead of using existing data (which is creating a new table and adding its characteristics), I made a new table and imported the null values.
I am using Teradata SQL to import a CSV file. I clicked import to activate the import operation, then typed the following
insert into databasename.tablename values(?,?,?,...)
I made sure to specify the database name as well as what I want the table to be named, and I put 13 commas--the number of columns in my CSV file.
It gives me the following error:
Query contains 13 parameters but Import file contains 1 data values
I have no idea what the issue is.
The default delimiter used by your SQL Assistant doesn't match the one used in the CSV, so it doesn't recognise all the columns.
On SQL Assistant, go to : Tools >> Options >> Export/Import and choose the proper delimiter so it matches the one in your CSV.
I'm trying to import a CSV to a BigQuery table from the user interface. My import job fails with the message:
Too many errors encountered. (error code: invalid)
gs://foo/bar.csv: CSV table references column position 15, but line starting at position:29350998 contains only 15 columns. (error code: invalid)
I'm assuming this means the importer doesn't like null fields in source data without an actual null string. Is there a way to make the UI allow jagged rows on import? Or, if not, what CLI command should I use to import my CSV file to a table this way?
The UI has an Allow jagged rows checkbox that you can select. Did you try that? It's part of the Options for the Create Table wizard.
I want to import csv data in sql server. I searched about and found answers about BULK INSERT ... FROM.
The problem I have is :
I want to select just one column of my results
The table already exists with bad datas and I just want to update these fields
The CSV I had contains towns and its parameters (correct datas)
Town,Id,ZipCode,...
T1,1,12000
T2,2,12100
T3,3,12200
And the table in SQL Server 'town' contains for example
T1,1,30456
T2,2,36327
T3,3,85621
I just want to get ZipCode in CSV and update the ZipCode in the table in function the ID.
Does it exist an easy way to do it ?
I normally prefer bcp over bulk insert because with that you can easily import the files over network and there's less issues with access rights. Otherwise I would just load the data into tempdb and update the original table from there.
I am trying to import numbers (postcodes) into a SQL DB using the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard. The column is text in Excel however when I import the file, the postcode column gets mapped to a float type which is causing NULL results for any values with a leading zero.
I created a new column and used the excel TEXT function to reformat the postcodes.
=TEXT(P2,"0000")
Then I imported the file with the new column and the new postcode column had a default mapping to nvarchar(255).
