I want to get just schema of arbitrary sql query in SQL server.
For example-
Create Table Tabl1(Ta1bID int ,col1 varchar(10))
Create Table Tabl2(Tab1ID int ,col2 varchar(20))
SQL Query -
SELECT col1, col2
FROM Tab1
INNER JOIN Tab2 ON Tab1ID = Tab2ID
Here result will have this schema-
Col1 varchar(10), Col2 varchar(20)
I want to know what will be schema of result.
PS : I have just read access on the server where I am executing this query.

The schema, you mean to say datatype right? For resulted datatype will you always know when you operate on table(s). In your case both column is varchar datatype, so it will give character datatype, that you may convert into any character datatype like varchar, nvarchar, char, ntext etc.
Basic thing is, table designing was/is done by, so that time we know why we define datatype, now when you execute query below , you always know what will come with datatype of each column.
SELECT col1, col2
FROM Tab1
INNER JOIN Tab2 ON Tab1ID = Tab2ID
This though will issue when you use dynamic query, where you run time add column as per your requirement and you then execute which may or may not give error, due to mismatch of wrong datatype.

I had similar problem before, but I had to create tables (70+) of each query one by one.
If there is a pattern, write a tool to generate create table
statement.
If not and it's one time job, just create them manually.
If it's not one time job, you might be thinking, why would store temp
date in table instead of temp table.

This may be a very basic question, but I have been struggling with this.
I have a SSMS query that I'll be using multiple times for a large set of client Ids. Its quite cumbersome to have to amend the parameters in all the where clauses every time I want to run it.
For simplicity, I want to convert a query like the one below:

to a query of the format below so that I only need to change my variable field once and it can be applied across my query:

The most appropriate solution would be to use a table variable:

The most appropriate way is to create a table type because it is possible to pass this type as parameters.
1) Creating the table type with the ID column.

how can we convert the result set of a procedure into an XML without creating a temporary table since the result set may vary in their structure based on the inputs ? the scenario must work in both on premise and azure hosted SQL server databases.

There's no way in TSQL to do that. TSQL can only convert to XML using a SELECT, not an EXECUTE. You could do this with a loopback linked server or CLR, but those are hacks, and not available in Azure SQL DB. You'll have to find another way. EG

I want to create a stored procedure in which I will pass an id and I want to select a column on basis of it.

Whenever you feel the need to set a number to a column's name (like Tel1, Tel2 or Theme1, Theme2) this is a very strong hint for a bad design...
If possible try something like
CREATE TABLE Theme(ThemeID INT IDENTITY, ForeignID INT, ThemeRank INT, ThemeName VARCHAR(100));
SELECT *
FROM YourTable AS yt
INNER JOIN Theme AS th ON yt.ForeignID=th.ForeignID AND ThemeRank=#passedInValue;
To answer your question: The only way to do this is dynamically created SQL and I would really not recommend it! This is a very bad approach...
UPDATE Just to be complete:

This will create a SQL command dynamically and execute it. The problems are

I got the error where my data type is varchar, then I want to insert value/input in textboxt = 'smh85670s'.
It appear to be error. As far as I know varchar can accept characters and numbers, but why does it keep throwing this error?
If I insert value '123456' the table can accept that value.

Assuming that you are using Stored procedures (which have an insert query) or directly firing an insert query into DB, you must be sending all data as parameters like say #param1, #param2,...
Your insert query will be like
INSERT INTO Sometable ( Amount, textbox,... )
SELECT #param1, #param2 ,...
Just add a cast in this query to make it work
INSERT INTO Sometable ( Amount, textbox,... )
SELECT #param1, CAST(#param2 as varchar),...
I need to execute a search query in SQL Server where I need to filter out data based upon an user input textfield.
The problem is, this query needs to be executed on several tables (so I only know the tablecolumns at runtime).
This is the query I have:

Now the problem is I need to do the Like function on every column (I only know the columnname at runtime) in the table. I am calling this query from an ASP.NET website. The user selects a table from a dropdownlist and can then enter the search field.
This is what I really want to accomplish:
SELECT * FROM [BTcegeka.C2M].[dbo].[Lookup_Country] WHERE * LIke '%test%'
Obviously 'Where * Like' Fails. How can I accomplish this?
You can query all columns in a table like:
select name from sys.columns where object_id = object_id('YourTable')
Then you can construct a query that does a like for each column.
Another approach is to create a calculated column called SearchField that contains a concatenation of all strings you'd like to search for. Then you can search like:

SearchField as col1 + '|' + col2 persisted)
insert #tmp (col1, col2) values

Try using your SQL query like this.
SELECT * FROM [BTcegeka.C2M].[dbo].[Lookup_Country]
WHERE
COL1 LIke '%test%'
OR COL2 LIke '%test%'
OR COL3 LIke '%test%'
You may use AND instead of OR if your requirement needs that.
If you know the column names at run time, then you should build you query in .NET before passing it to sql. You can build it with the correct column name. This way you can account also for the type of the column you search in.
Careful though this path you chose is prone to SQL injection so before sending a query to the SQL you should check it.
If you really need to do this you can search in sqlserver meta tables and find the description of selected user table. Make a good use of this data is easy and you can make any sql you want with this information, but performance may not the that good
you have to use dynamic sql for implementing this. Your column name needs to be passed as parameter to this stored procedure or if you dont want to create stored procedure just declare one paramter and assign the value selected from the drop down list to it and use that in the query.
