I am using SSRS in Visual Studio 2008 and need to create a report that displays names on a calendar based on the dates pulled from the database. I would like the calendar to display a month at a time My query pulls data that looks like the following:
Name StartDate EndDate NumDays (Shows difference between Start and EndDate)
Tim 1/1/2000 1/1/2000 1
Bill 1/4/2000 1/6/2000 3
Tim 1/10/2000 1/11/2000 2
For my report, I would need a Calendar that displays "Tim" on 1/1, 1/10, and 1/11 and display "Bill" on 1/4, 1/5, 1/6.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced!
To do this effectively you will need a table of dates (either in your database or generate one in your SQL query). You can then left join from that table in your query which will ensure you have a row for each day. The table of dates should also identify which dates belong to the same week. (One way would be to use the DATEPART(WK,Datecolumn) function.)
Next create a tablix in your report which groups by day for the columns and by the week identifier for the rows. You'll probably need to pull in the last few days of the previous month in order to get it to align to a Sunday start date (or whatever the first day of your calendar row is).
Each cell in the tablix will now be a box on your calendar.

First off its been a long week and I'm having a moment e.g. I just can't figure this out but I know its straight forward.
I have a CTE with a query for a GL Detail and one for Budget which are bought together to display all the details needed for a report.
For example the GL detail bring back the actual amount from a date range such as 2019-01-01 and 2019-04-01
and the budget part brings back the budget for each month so the date range is 2019-01-01 and 2019-12-01 as I need to sum up the total budget in a report.
Using an iif expression in SSRS the report shows the actuals up to the month a user select (there is on a to_date parameter)such as April then the report shows actual from Jan and then budget from May to Dec. I need to show the total of budget for the 12 month which is straight forward as I have bought each month amount back.
My question is I need to sum the GL actual amount for the months selected in by the user Jan to April and the remaining budget amounts May to Dec. For some reason I just can't work it out in my head.
Edit - I'm using
postgresql
SSRS - Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
columns are in GL is gldetail.amount and for Budget budget.amount_budget - I have a column in both gldetail and budget queries which is called post_date.
Worked it out -
,case
when src.post_date <= src._to_date then src.amount
when src.post_date > src._to_date then src.amount_budget
end as actual_budget_total
Then in the report sum the actual_budget_total
I have a table with more than 20000 rows, In one of column i have month from jan 2014 to Dec 2014, and in another column i have a loan number. Most of the loan Numbers are reapeting every months, now i need to get only the loan Number which are apperead in all three monthy consecutively. For eg if i am getting data for current months i also wanted get data which are common in two months before the current months. The database that i m using is Access DB. Any adivice will be more than a help, Thanks in Advance.
SELECT Loans.LoanID, Sum(IIf([period]=[month],1,0)) AS CM, Sum(IIf([period]=[month]-1,1,0)) AS [m-1], Sum(IIf([period]=[month]-2,1,0)) AS [m-2]
FROM Loans
GROUP BY Loans.LoanID
HAVING (((Sum(IIf([period]=[month],1,0)))>1) AND ((Sum(IIf([period]=[month]-1,1,0)))>1) AND ((Sum(IIf([period]=[month]-2,1,0)))>1));
I used month as an integer, and didn't make any adjustment for months 1 and 2 to loop back and look at prior year - you should be able to modify this based on the actual format you are using for the month.
I would like to begin by saying I'm quite new to sql.
That said, here is my question/problem:
I have a view that has two date columns, a variable column and a text column (for comments).
I need to be able to split up all rows where the two dates are not in the same week. And I need to be able to split the variable value as well, so that it gets evenly distributed, based on how many days were in each week. The comment must be copied as well, so to be shown in each row.
My dataset looks like this:
DateIn DateOut Amount Comment
2014-11-01 2014-11-08 600 Good
And what I want is this:
DateIn DateOut Amount Comment
2014-11-01 2014-11-07 525 Good
2014-11-08 2014-11-08 75 Good
And if the time period spreads over more weeks, I would need it to split up to equivalent number of rows.
I would be very greatful if somebody could take the time to tell me how to achive my goal, using an sql-query.
As this is my first post on the forum, I apologize for any format errors in my post.
First, you need a weeks table. I mean physical table or view, where exists one row for every week possible. (We have dates table here, +/- 30 years from now - allows easily create weeks view and similar).
Then you need link your data to weeks table with left join; join condition should check date ranges overlap with week date range (probably you have to have both week start and week end fields in your weeks table - makes comparisons easier).
Then you need to divide amounts between weeks. Because you know date range length, week length and overlapping date range length, this should be trivial :)
I want to summarize sql query result week wise and month wise at the same time in a grid view. Is this even possible or I am just dreaming?
Requirement:
Show last one month data and next two month's data week wise in the grid.
Example-
If the current month is September then I want to show data from 1st August to 31st October categorized in weeks.
Show the data after the next month of current month in month wise view in the same grid.
Example-
data for month November and December will be shown categorized in month not in weeks.
grid or result should look something like below -
Please suggest something to achieve this
If you want a maintainable solution, use two independent queries, one for weekly aggregation other for monthly. Depending on the input run corresponding query.
I think you must work with group by or group by ... cube
SELECT x , y from <tabel> GROUP BY date_feld( to_char( 'MM' ))
but i don't now your DBMS so i can't give you a exact example for the date handling.
I have a yearly chart that it broken down into the 12 months Jan - Dec. The report contains various parameters including a yearly dropdown that changes the chart and report.
This all works fine within the first report.
The problem is that I have set up an action on the chart to go to a second report with a monthly breakdown, so my question is how can I pass the monthly value from the first report to the second?
The monthly report has an additional date from and date to parameter, so for the month of January it would need the values: Date From: 01/01/2010 and Date To: 31/01/2010 for example.
Thanks in advance.
Since you have the year and month integer values, you can construct the start and end dates to pass to your other report using expressions.
The start of the month will be:
=DateSerial(Fields!Year.Value, Fields!Month.Value, 1)
Where Year and Month are the integer values from the Chart/Dataset.
The end date is a bit more complicated; since the day part can be 30/31, etc, but we can just add one month to the above expression to get the first of the next month, then go back a day:
=DateAdd(DateInterval.Day
, -1
, DateAdd(DateInterval.Month, 1, DateSerial(Fields!Year.Value, Fields!Month.Value, 1)))
This way your drillthrough report can get its date based parameters and you don't need any changes to your dataset/parent report.
