How to play sound from resources using windows media player? - vb.net

I am making a game, so at one point I need to play two sounds at once, so I played the first one using the "My.Computer.Audio.Play()" Method to load from resources.
As for the second, I used Windows Media Player to load the second sound In A SPECIFIC FOLDER, now I know it is possible to extract files to a folder and program it to play from there to avoid trouble, but I don't want them to be extracted.
So I'm trying to get the file path from resources and put it in WMP's URL, but couldn't get any result after searching the internet.
Am I missing something?
And if you know any better alternative, make sure it can:
1- Replay sound (coding with timer is ok),
2- Change Sound Position

You can use the MediaPlayer class in code or MediaElement in XAML for playing audio files in a WPF application. Check out the article WPF Media Player In VB.NET for code samples.

Editing Video Effects panel on VLC for Mac

Ok so this question is actually in two parts.
I coded a video filter for VLC and I would like to add a control to the Video Effects panel on the OS X UI. So far I've been able to link my plugin the the UI by hijacking one of the existing controls, but this isn't ideal.
Now, if I open up the Xcode project (I'm running Xcode 6.3.1) and try to open the VideoEffect.xib file, I get the following error:
I tried to google this but it sounds like the only alternative would be to play archaeologist and dig up an old copy of Xcode 3. Is there any other way to be able to open this file and edit it somehow? I tried to look at the XML code but if I started to change that I'd do more damage than good.
The second thing I'd like to do is sending back values from the effect module to the UI. At the moment (by hijacking one of the existing sliders), all I can do is read a value from the panel with
config_ChainParse(p_filter, FILTER_PREFIX, ppsz_filter_options, p_filter->p_cfg);
p_filter->p_sys->i_factor = var_CreateGetIntegerCommand(p_filter, FILTER_PREFIX "factor");
and then, inside the callback function:
p_sys->i_factor = VLC_CLIP( newval.i_int, 0, 255 );
However, I haven't been able to write back the value. I'd like the filter to set p_sys->i_factor to a random value at start. This works (using var_SetInteger()), but it isn't reflected in the position of the slider in the Video Effect panel. I suspect I need to hack a bit deeper for that. Any ideas?
Regarding your first question with the xib-file. Consider downloading and using our forthcoming 3.0 code from git://git.videolan.org/vlc.git - it allows editing of said file without Xcode 3.
Regarding your second question, why would you want your video filter to interfere with the UI? This is not how the architecture of VLC works and there is no correct way to do it at this point. You would need to edit the core to do another global variable callback to ask the UI to reload the presented filter configuration.
Perhaps, if you give details about what your filter does and what you want to achieve, we find a more supported way :)

Using Audio Unit (Mixer Host) to play from iPod library instead of pre selected sound files.

For a university project i'm working on a DJ mixing app. I'm essentially tackling this project from a 'teach yourself from scratch by googling everything and analysing pre existing source code' type of way so go easy.
I have looked at the Mixer Host sample project from apple found here: http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#samplecode/MixerHost/Introduction/Intro.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/DTS40010210
I can't work out how to replace the pre selected audio files (guitar + beat) with a song URL from the iPod library selected from a media picker, or, in this case - 2 media pickers.
Is it a case of grabbing the URL of the iPod library song selected and putting in place of the URL of the preselected audio file?
If someone could point me in the right direction, tell me how i'm completely going about this the wrong way, or even do the coding for me (joke), it would be greatly appreciated.
You can't actually simply stream from the ipod library; you need to copy the files into the documents directory of the app.
try this: http://www.subfurther.com/blog/2010/12/13/from-ipod-library-to-pcm-samples-in-far-fewer-steps-than-were-previously-necessary/
You can use third party libraries to play a iPod library songs using AudioUnit. The below link is useful to you

Loop wav file seamleassly in the background on windows 8

I have managed to get seamsless looping of wav files using the SharpDX library.
But this does not seem to work while the app is minimised (in the background).
Using the metro players I do not get a seamless loop this is why I use XAudio2 in the SharpDX library.
Hope someone can help with this.
When your app is in the background it no longer has access to the CPU so your audio will stop playing.
The only way around this is with background agents running the audio component. The issue here is that the certification process will be hard on you if you are just playing looping audio. Playing audio in the background is intended for audio player apps (like the inbuilt "Music" app).
If I were a user of your app I would likely be unhappy that it clogs up the audio system when it isn't in the foreground (if, for example, I went to answer a Lync call). If the only way to stop your app playing audio is to go and turn it off manually or exit the app then my opinion is that the user experience isn't great.
Of course, you may have a different opinion, or your app might be doing something I haven't considered.

MPMoviePlayerController mp4 file streaming

I have few links to .mp4 video files like
file1.mp4
file2.mp4
file3.mp4
I need to play them all in player as one file. Actually not necessarily "as one" file, the player must act like it's one file. My best guess is to create custom controls and playback area for MPMoviePlayerController and divide the playback by time slices.
For instance
file1.mp4 file2.mp4 file3.mp4
-----------|------------|------------
Is this a good approach? Can this be done anyhow easier?
Also, the server, from which I'll get the videos is not customizable and I can't convert videos to MPEG-2 and stream them via .m3u8 files.
Thanks in advance
I guess you can use AVQueuePlayer. It supports multi-item playback. Haven't tried that myself (I used AVPlayer for single-item playback). I believe that AVQueuePlayer usage should reduce your overall efforts. ( You will still be responsible for drawing playback controls )
I sticked up to the scenario I described in the question and was able to create the player component.

How to play a video file in a vb.net form

How to play a video file in vb.net ?
I need the video to automatically start playing on form load.
Using google will show many results. Here is one that seemed pretty easy to follow:
