Has anyone installed Scrapy under Canopy distro - scrapy

I am new to Canopy. I have some data mining projects that I would like to do using Python. I was wondering if anyone was able to install Scrapy under Canopy? Is it easy to install packages outside of the main repository?

Short answer is to try pip install scrapy from the command line (use the Canopy Command Prompt (Windows) or Canopy Terminal (OSX/Linux) found in the Tools menu; this ensures Canopy's User Python is on the PATH).

Adding Qt Dependencies to spec file in rpmbuild

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and I am updating the rpmbuild spec file of an application that now uses Qt.
The packages that I need are the following:
sudo apt-get build-essential
sudo apt-get install mesa-common-dev -y
sudo apt-get install libglu1-mesa-dev -y
sudo apt-get qt5-default
sudo apt-get qtwebengine5-dev
I know the spec file has "BuildRequires" and "Requires" dependency tags...any help in writing this as well as some examples would be helpful. I have a working spec file I just need to add the dependencies.
I think there is some confusion here. spec files are used to generate rpm files. However Ubuntu uses deb files.
Supposing you really want to create an rpm; then you need to know this:
BuildRequires
these packages are required for building the rpm. Typically you will need build-essential and the '*-dev` packages for building your application
Requires
these packages are required upon installation for your application to work; mostly you don't need your build-tools anymore, but you still need the qt5-default for example.
PS: on a little side note I might be one of the only people in the world building deb packages using spec files with a special conversion script https://bitbucket.org/klaussfreire/spec2deb/src/default/ but I wouldn't really recommend that.

How do I get the man command?

I just installed Windows Subsystem for Linux for the first time and downloaded the Debian distribution from the Windows Store.
The first thing I tried to do was use the "mv" command. The second thing was to run "man mv" because I don't remember how to use it. But I received the error:
-bash: man: command not found
It looks like the package I want is called manpages. But I can't install that:
sudo apt-get install manpages
[sudo] password for pi:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package manpages is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source
E: Package 'manpages' has no installation candidate
How do I get the man command up and running?
apt update to update the local package lists followed by apt install man-db to install the actual package.
I want to add to elken's answer that apparently, the 'man-db' packages doesn't cover all the manpages. For example, I needed documentation for the C stdio library (fopen, fgets, ...), and for that I had to install 'manpages-dev':
sudo apt install manpages-dev

How to install PhantomJS on vps?

I tried to use pip install, but it tells cannot find such package.
I also see someone say we can use brew and nodejs to install. This is what I tried to install brew
/usr/bin/ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"
It returns that ruby doesn't found.
I have no idea about nodejs.
Anyone knows how can I install PhantomJS in the server?
Meet npm!
Npm stands for Node Package Manager.
You can install packages for using them from the CLI or from your nodejs app.
You can install NPM from here.
If node isn't installed yet, you can use NVM, which makes it really easy -
$ curl -o- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/creationix/nvm/v0.33.2/install.sh | bash

You can install it via:
$ npm install phantomjs-prebuilt
And then you should be able to: $ bin/phantomjs [phantom arguments] to run phantomJS from the terminal.
PhantomJS is a standalone application with its own website which has binaries for all major platforms and documentation. You don't really need pip or npm or bundler to install it, just do it manually.
Go to http://phantomjs.org/download.html
Choose the appropriate binary (Linux x32 x64 / OSX / Windows), download archive, extract it and run the binary.
For example you have a x64 Linux distribution.
Log in to your server via ssh.
Go to your home directory:
cd ~
Download PhantomJS binary:
wget https://bitbucket.org/ariya/phantomjs/downloads/phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
Extract archive:
tar xvf phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
A new directory is created: phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64. The PhantomJS binary is phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64/bin/phantomjs. You can run it right now:
~/phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64/bin/phantomjs --version
2.1.1
(If it says "not found " instead that means you chose the wrong distribution, e.g. x64 instead of x32).
But this way of running it is inconvenient. It would be way better to be able to just type phantomjs script.js in any directory. To make it so add a link to a directory where binaries are kept by default:
sudo ln -s ~/phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64/bin/phantomjs /usr/bin/phantomjs
Then you can call PhantomJS from anywhere:
cd /var/www/
phantomjs --version
2.1.1

I want a command to apt-get Tensorflow on robot Nao

I want to install TensorFlow framework in robot NAO , if i do :
ssh nao#192.168.1.3
sudo apt-get install python-pip python-dev
he print an error :
-bash: apt-get: command not found
so How can i install tensorflow framework on robot NAO?
Apparently there is no apt-get tool on your NAO, because NAO has different portage method, although its os is Linux. Generally two approaches you can go with:
if you have NAO simulator, first install the Tensorflow on it, and then copy all files to you NAO robot, so you have apt-get tool on your simulator and no mess on robot.
or you can install packages per pip tool, but NAO's os is Gentoo, so it could be a little twisted.
First search pip
emerge -s pip
Find the name of tools you need, such as dev-python/pip and others python packages, to install it superuser is required.
emerge dev-python/pip
Then you can begin other tasks.
I am not familiar with Tensorflow, however if you can not install it, you can built it from source code.
BTY, you might wanna check emerge command.

I just installed graphite on my mac, but some fonts are huge

I just installed graphite on OSX, and managed to get the web app running this command:
python /opt/graphite/bin/run-graphite-devel-server.py /opt/graphite
I'll eventually move it to ubuntu, but in the mean time, some fonts are enormous:
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
I chased this down to an issue with the newest version of cairo. I removed cairo and installed 1.12.6. I posted the instructions here gist.github.com/relaxdiego/7539911
Its the cairocffi that handles the fonts and other display parameters. Sometimes installing only cairo doesn't work. In the above case you should always troubleshoot by ensuring proper and complete installation of the cairocffi package. By complete I mean all the dependencies for cairocffi.
The frequently required are:
1. libffi-devel (for rpm based operating systems)
sudo yum install libffi-devel
2. libffi-dev (for debian based operating systems)
sudo apt-get install libffi-dev
3. parse_lookup
sudo pip install parse_lookup
