So I've created a graphing calculator style program to display vector lines and their resultant after addition.
My question is: for lines of greater size than the window size I have designated for display, how can I "zoom" in or out of that window with in the page. I have tried doubling the length of each line point, but to no avail.
Never seen a zoom on a single control. I supose you could just change the font size (on the MouseWheel event) of the textbox and that would give the same effect as zooming. If you want it keyboard based, you could use the key events and look for something like [ctrl]+ or [ctrl]-

In the design window, I have my controls formatted one way, but when I run my program, the formatting changes. The window looks larger and the digit button is no longer aligned. I have no clue how to fix this. I am taking an intro level course, so I can't fix this with code. When I wrote my first couple of programs, I didn't have an issue with resizing, but for the last two or three, they never hold their size.
My Program
the above issue please check the anchor tag of each control it should be Top left.
To hold the control position
1 Add panel control to form then dock it to form
2 Add the other
control it will hold the control position as well
I have a UIButton which is created programmatically (it can be customised from Interface Builder, though). It is a circular and it looks like this:
Now I'm working on Internationalization and I need to check it for Double-Length Pseudolanguage. The image above is taken when the app language is set to double-length pseudo, but as you can see, the button only shows one word. Here are the constraints of the button:
The title style of the button is plain, its text is centre-aligned, and the line break is set to "Word Wrap".
How to make the button keep its shape but to increase its size when needed (basically, to increase its width and height for the same amount, so it keeps being a circle), so for example, in this case to show two "Menu" words? If you know how to achieve this I would appreciate your help.
Try setting the content compression resistance on the button to required (1000) for horizontal and vertical. It will also depend on the stackViews above and below allowing for the size change.
i have two richtextboxes of the exact same size located on my form. However, when I run it, one's height reduces. There are other controls around it so it leaves a weird space. What causes that?
Form in the Design tab
Form once I run it
I've tried constraining the control with the "same height" button, I've created a new richtextbox, but it keeps on happening.
It also depends on computers, on screens with unusual resolutions the box is the correct size.
Thank you
Its because scroll bar coming in picture. In order to uniformly set the positions and sizes of RichtextBoxes use DOCKING or Anchoring properly
Wondering if someone could help me....
I have a small .NET application where I have an Edit button on a main form. When the user clicks the Edit button, I want to popup a small form right next to it (on top of the main form) with a speech balloon tail attached on the side of the form pointing to the Edit button. So it gives the effect of a floating form pushed out from the Edit button.
I don't want the appearance of a normal speech bubble, I want it to look like an actual borderless form (with square corners). It could be a custom control or anything (however, I am not yet familiar with creating my own custom controls), but I need to add Text Controls, Pictures, Label Controls, etc. to this floating form.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
UPDATE
I am trying to create something to this affect:
So imagine the ? being the Edit button and the other being a form with custom controls.
Like this?
To get this behavior:
Select an image which will represent your speech bubble. Put a PictureBox on the form, make it use this image. Place two labels, as above, adjust the font.
Pick your transparency key (color). Your image background and form background need to be set to that. I used black for demo purposes, which is a bad choice if you plan to have any black or text in your speech bubble. Set form's TransparencyKey property to this color in designer. More about TransparencyKey on MSDN.
(final step, not shown on the screenshot). Set FormBorderStyle = None.
Also make sure you have other ways to close your bubble, because X will be unavailable.
The final result may look something like the following:
Note: You may notice some drawing artifacts, most images on the internet have smooth borders, and transparency key does not support shades, has to be exact color. If you are fine with these minor artifacts, feel free to leave it at that. Or, edit it to get rough borders. Or find another one that better suits your needs.
I have designed a form in VB.NET. At design time I have placed two buttons on it.
When I run it, the form size looks smaller and the buttons I have placed at the bottom are not visible. Also the alignment of the text and picture box is also different from what I set at design time.
Computer at which I am running the form is using a different resolution.
change the properties (F4) of the buttons: in ANCHOR put Bottom, Right
your buttons will be tied to the bottom and the right of the screen, instead of to the top, left, which is the default.
Grab the screen size at runtime with
Dim screen as System.Windows.Forms.Screen = System.Windows.Forms.Screen.PrimaryScreen
and using a scale factor depending on the current size (in design), scale the window to match. Check the coordinates of the buttons by hand to make sure they are not outside of the visible portion of the window.
You may not have to leave this feature in if you can debug it to the point that you know the exact resolution that you need.
