I added an addon domain to my account in cPanel and go this error message:
"The addon domain has been created"
but it also said
"Error detected with pure-quotacheck for addondomainname [/home/username/public_html/addondomainname.com]: Unable to update the quota file(.ftpquota): [Permission denied]"
After all this I went inside the file manager to add a simple empty folder inside the addon domain folder and I get
"Could not create folder ...., permission denied".
This is a dedicated server and I have access to cPanel and WHM but I'm not that experienced so I need your help. Can anybody help me with some advice on how to fix this problem so that I can create my website inside that addon domain folder? Right now I can't do anything inside it? Thanks. I tried a few things but didn't succeed and I'm getting same messages.
Please check the ownership of the domain.com folder inside the public_html directory. It should point to the ftp user name.

I'm new to WHM, cPanel, and CentOS.
I install WHM then create an account for domain app.example.com and user peter
I point the domain name to right IP address but when I run my website app.example.com I got HTTP ERROR 500
Via SSH I log into the server and I find my previous uploaded code into
/home/peter/public_html
Then I run command sudo chown -R peter:peter /home/peter/public_html
and when I look at folders permission and owner they looks like:
I think my HTTP ERROR 500 is about user permission.
Can please help me to add right privileges to a user or what I need to do to my public_html folder be visible to the world (at browser).
What I need to do?
The best thing to know if it's a permissions problem, a bug in the programming of the web application or to see what really happens, is that you look at the log file of the web server (apache, nginx, the one you use). The log will give you more clues. Could you copy the log output when the error occurs?
It seems some required extensions were not activate or had been removed from your VPS. You should check and install/activate them. Then you can test your website again.
P.S: Sorry for my bad english
I am getting 500 Internal server.I have uploaded files to the server using Filezila .and when i am browsing it.Its showing internal server error.
Whats is the permission of your files and directory's which you have uploaded in your account. Also check your .htaccess file code.
There may be several reasons , let me list few which i think might be the reason.
1) Check the folder and file permissions on the hosting . Folder permission should be 755 and the file permission should be 644 by default to work on
2) If there is any .htaccess file try to remove that file and check again reloading (Note : if you are using cPanel try selecting show hidden files in file manager to view the .htaccess file )
3) whether your db is been properly configured in the configuration file of your MVC site ( however if it is the reason the page will will throw some db connectivity error . just in case if it is i am asking you to check )
If that helps, update me . If not, Kindly post the error log which can be taken in cPanel or if you are using different solution ask your hosting provider on how to view error log.
The best and universal approach if you have root access on the server would be to look for more information in the web server log:
/usr/local/apache/logs/error_log
If you do not have root access, you can check the Error log in cPanel -> Errors, it will provide you with more details on what the problem is.
I had a shared hosting package with 1and1 and I just moved over to their VPS hosting that uses Plesk. I already had the domains moved over the VPS server and I already uploaded all of the files via FTP.
I talked to an agent yesterday and he helped me setup the main page on the website so that it would go to the appropriate root directory. The main website is working properly whenever I go the main domain name, however, whenever I go to website.com/blank or website.com/stuff, I receive a 404 error.
The strange part is that I see the files in Plesk file manager, I just don't know why they are not displaying properly. I didn't change anything in the migration process.
I did not change the code on any of the pages and I have contacted their customer support team a number of times, but they have been unable to resolve the issue.
Can anyone tell me what I should do to make sure that the files are associated with the correct pages?
Have you checked the permission for the files and folder under your domain, this seems to be an issue with either your ownership or permission of the files. And if thats not the problem it could even be your .htaccess file.. make sure you have transferred your .htaccess file as well from old shared hosting to new VPS.
I am trying to deploy a folder using 'Deploy to FTP Server' option in cloud9 IDE. Folder got deployed correctly on the remote location. But when I tried to access the files in folder I encountered error 403 Forbidden. You do not have permission to access this document. When checked through console, permissions got changed. It is not feasible to change the folder permissions each time. What should I do?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
I made virtualhost like: here. My directory is in my home folder. When I try to enter my new domain or anywhere I get 403 error:/
What happened?
You can give the details of the error in the log file
/var/log/apache2/error_log
apache probably need read access to the following documents:
/home/.htaccess
/home/user/.htacces
[...]
/home/user/path/to/project/.htaccess
I answer this question in the case you are still stuck.
I presume that you have set the permissions the correct way. The next step is to check if your home folder is encrypted? If so this might be your problem. Put you files in an folder outside of the home folder and give the permissions needed to access the folder.
