Strange error here, while compiling a report using Stimulsoft I'm getting this error, but it has nothing to do with my connection string which is like this:
Data Source=server\instance;Initial Catalog=mydb;Integrated Security=True
There is no username ever in that connection so I really have no idea why this is happening, any ideas?
Please check your data source used for the report. It might happened that connection string is hard coded somewhere in the code or data source.

Simply trying to find out the correct syntax for my connection string. Before anyone asks, yes I did look at other SO answers, and no they did not work for me. Here a couple of attempts I made from looking at other SO questions like the one I am asking
Server=(local);Database=SalesOrdersExample;Integrated Security= true
Data Source=(local);Database=SalesOrdersExample;Integrated Security=SSPI
Server=.\\SQLEXPRESS;Database=SalesOrdersExampleDataSet;Integrated Security=true
None of them worked (I have a Console.WriteLine("test"); thrown in there and it works up until I try conn.Open() (opening the connection to database) so I'm assuming that it must be my connection string since nothing gets written after conn.Open())
Console.WriteLine("test"); // works
SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("Server=.\\SQLEXPRESS;Database=SalesOrdersExampleDataSet;Integrated Security=true");
Console.WriteLine("test"); // works
conn.Open();
Console.WriteLine("test"); // does not work
So some information about the database is that it's local under my 'Data Connections' in my Server Explorer. I also have the .xsd file in my project so I have linked the Data Set to the current project I am on. Here is a picture representation to confirm that I have both the Data Connection and the Data Set.
EDIT: SO does not allow me to post pictures until I have 10 rep so here is direct link to picture:

Any help is appreciated thank you.
Visual Studio comes with LocalDB database, which is not exactly SQL Server Express database.
Try something like this:
Server=(localdb)\v11.0;Integrated Security=true;
or
Data Source=(LocalDB)\v11.0; AttachDbFileName=|DataDirectory|\DatabaseFileName.mdf; InitialCatalog=DatabaseName;Integrated Security=True;MultipleActiveResultSets=True
If using in c# code, you can use # to avoid problems with backslash characters:
SqlConnection conn =
new SqlConnection(#"Server=(localdb)\v11.0;Integrated Security=true;");
This is the error message
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

This is my Ute.ASP code
Dim sDSN
sDSN = "Data Source=MYSERV0000\PSAPP01; Initial Catalog=LibraryDB; User Id=admsa; password=sa"
P.S: I am able to use the same string within my web.config, with .net 4.0
Side comment ... don't use .inc files. Very bad practice ... if you have an error on the page it may provide the name of your .inc that has your database connection. Since the .inc page is not an .asp, if someone types in the URL for that .inc it will just come back as plain text. WHAM ... visitor now has your connection string. Convert it to an .asp and your problems are over.
As far as the Connection String, there's too many possibilities to answer precisely so I'll just point you in the direction of http://connectionstrings.com/ Follow the right links and it should give you a template of what your connection string should be.
sDSN = "Provider=SQLNCLI;Server=SERVER\INSTANCE;Database=exampleDB;Uid=admsa; Pwd=sa;" makes it work
This the scenario have. There's an SSRS server that has a report where the datasource is of type XML and it uses windows authentication, nothing else to it. Inside the report there's a dataset that uses that data source with this for a query "=Code.ReportUser.GetListOfItems()". This calls a method in the custom assembly that connects to the database and returns data in a string formated like this (angle brackets changed to curly for read
"<Query><XmlData><Items>" + xmlDocument.DocumentElement.InnerXml + "</Items></XmlData></Query>"
where sql datatable is written into the xmlDocument. If I go to the reporting server through an IE and run the report everything works as it should. The Problem occures when add this link to Zangle application which runs it as "IEHOST.app 'report's url'". I believe its a foxpro app that opens a browser object and report fails on the dataset that uses my xml data source. There's no question about url or reports correctness because it functions in a different environment.
This is the server error i get:

I'm not sure what this means exactly. Any thoughts? it looks like a permission issue but i don't understand where. I did try to change xml data source authentication from windows to none and then add my AD account as an execution user on the reporting server. This didnt' change anything still working from browser but from Zangle browser object. One more thing, server requires authentication and all the report regardless of the environment promt for login and successfully authenticate so my credentials seems to pass to the server and only my xml data source is throwing an error when launched from with Zangle. Please share your ideas. I'm a programmer but I'm not too server stuff savy and I'm new to SSRS. Thank you.
Resolved. Turns out that foxpro app lowercases everything and the name of the sql server passed to the assembly doesn't match the name stored in the assembly. Silly :) So we'll be lowercase comparing everything from now on.
I'm using an application called Logi info. it requires a connection string to my oracle database. the connection works fine but in order to configure the connection to recive ref cursors from the database, I apparently need to add PLSQLRSet=1 to the end of the string. when I do that I recieve an error "invalid connection string"
Here is my connection string without plsqlrset=1
Data Source=SID; User Id=username; Password=password;
My concern is that PLSQLRSet=1 might be .NET paramater only. Can anyone shed some light on the issue.
Thanks
It appears that the PLSQLRset option is a feature of the OraOLEDB provider (per http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/win.920/a95498/using.htm).
Therefore I would guess that you have to add Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle to the connect string -- as shown in the screenshot on the page you linked to -- in order to use this option.
we've got a real confusing problem. We're trying to test an SQL Bulk Load using a little app we've written that passes in the datafile XML, the schema, and the SQL database connection string.
It's a very straight-forward app, here's the main part of the code:
SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.SQLXMLBulkLoad4Class objBL = new SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.SQLXMLBulkLoad4Class();
objBL.ConnectionString = "provider=sqloledb;Data Source=SERVER\\SERVER; Database=Main;User Id=Username;Password=password;";
objBL.BulkLoad = true;
objBL.CheckConstraints = true;
objBL.ErrorLogFile = "error.xml";
objBL.KeepIdentity = false;
objBL.Execute("schema.xml", "data.xml");
As you can see, it's very simple but we're getting the following error from the library we're passing this stuff to: Interop.SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.dll.
The message reads:
Failure: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory has been corrupted
We have no idea what's causing it or what it even means.
Before this we first had an error because SQLXML4.0 wasn't installed, so that was easy to fix. Then there was an error because it couldn't connect to the database (wrong connection string) - fixed. Now there's this and we are just baffled.
Thanks for any help. We're really scratching our heads!
I am not familiar with this particular utility (Interop.SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.dll), but have you checked that your XML validates to its schema .xsd file? Perhaps the dll could have issues with loading the xml data file into memory structures if it is invalid?
I try to understand your problem ,but i have more doubt in that,
If u have time try access the below link ,i think it will definitely useful for you

I know I did something that raised this error message once, but (as often happens) the problem ended up having nothing to do with the error message. Not much help, alas.
Some troubleshooting ideas: try to determine the actual SQL command being generated and submitted by the application to SQL Server (SQL Profiler should help here), and run it as "close" to the database as possible--from within SSMS, using SQLCMD, direct BCP call, whatever is appropriate. Detailing all tests you make and the results you get may help.
