I have been searching for this but i can't start coding or change configuration because i can't quite understand the concept. Can you help me know where to start?
i have a tinymce editor with different fonts. When i saved it the the text(with its font) was saved in html format. I am converting the html format to pdf by using html2pdf plug in but there was an "TCDPF Error: can not include ''". I have tested all the fonts in my tinymce editor but only Arial works with the html2pdf. I know that you can set the font in html2pdf by using
$html2pdf->pdf->setFont('calibri');
but this means the text will be saved in one font only. Here comes my problem because in my text each word has different fonts. What should i do? i appreciate any help. :) please understand, i am just a novice
I would use some other tool to create a pdf, what about a ghostscript solution?

I am trying to save a pdf from illustrator and I have never had this issue, the font looks fine in illustrator, but when I save the pdf and open the pdf in a pdf viewer the "i" character now has a box beneath the text but the dot of the i stays there.

I know that when the square shows up it means the font you are trying to use isn't there however the other characters appear fine, it just seems to be the I which is odd. The font passed verification (for reference it is Playfair Display
Does anyone know how to fix this or why this could be occurring? Am I exporting wrong(I've never had this issue before with exporting)?

Update: I solved my question while writing it. The font that was installed was a variable font type (I downloaded it from Google), for some reason it doesn't seem to want to play nicely in a pdf (maybe I'm saving it incorrectly?). I deleted the variable font and installed the static versions of the font and now the issue has gone away.
I don't know too much about variable fonts but it seems like they are maybe a bit finicky?

Using the following code to generate thumbnails from PDFs (ColdFusion 8):

Sometimes it works great and generates a beautiful PNG representation of the first page. However, many times, it ends up creating a PNG with none of the text that's in the PDF, or with the text mangled or background images out of arrangement.
Is there any way to prevent this? I'm open to using a non-commercial java library, if necessary.
Without looking into this too deep, I would think you are having a font problem.
Try to run that bit of code with this parameter nofonts = "true" (which removes font styling) and see if you get your text (not styled).
If that works then you may need to register your fonts in Coldfusion (so Coldfusion has access to the fonts library). If you are not sure what fonts your PDF uses then you can check file, properties and click the font tab to see the fonts your PDF uses.

Again, I am not sure about your server and font set up because it wasn't mentioned in your post, so this is my best guess for you...

I'm trying to understand how it works yet, but my first problem is about how to apply bold on some line of my document.
I've already downloaded the PDF REFERENCES GUIDE, but I've not found nothing about it.
Any idea?
PDF is not like HTML where you can apply formatting tags for emphasis. As you've read in the PDF reference, all that you do in PDF is to setup a graphics environment (colours used, fonts used, etc) and then put text on the page.
If you want to have something show in bold, use a font that is bold. If you want to have something show in italic, use a font that is italic.
Older software used dirty tricks to create "bold-alike" text, but the good (and easy) way to do it is to make sure you select the correct font before you start drawing text.
I am converting Marathi data from PDF to excel or word but it is not getting proper format.
I have copied some data from PDF and pasted in word document but it was not getting proper format.

but when i copied and pasted in word it has been getting

what should i do for this?

There seem to be problems in the way PDF stores unicode devnagri text. Try this alternative route: convert your PDF to an image. Can use an online tool or downloaded, or if on linux use this command in terminal:
for f in *.pdf; do convert -density 200 "$f" "${f}_200dpi.jpg"; done
change the density from 200 to other as per need. Each page from your document should be converted into an image file. For a windows tool, try https://www.pdfill.com/pdf_tools_free.html
Then, go to http://www.i2ocr.com/free-online-hindi-ocr, upload the image and convert. That uses OCR (optical character recognition).
check the font in your PDF and try making it available to the word document.
I think you dont have perticular fonts which are used in PDF
In Adobe Reader -- -- File menu > Properties > Fonts tab gives you a list of all fonts used in the document.
right now i am working on one ipad application where i am giving facility of opening the pdf file and also to customize it,now i want to add one functionality like i want to convert that pdf file in .doc format.
I researched but did not get any way around. Can anybody help me out?

I wrote an article on PDF to text conversion issues. If you look at some of the existing PDF to Word conversion tools (ie BCL) you will see what is realistically possible with a lot of work.
It’s not possible to convert a generic PDF back into a text format. I guess you could render the PDF into images and create a DOC from those, but that doesn’t sound very useful.
