I'm facing a strange issue. I've add into my VB application a WebBrowser without made any further change on it. And when I run it in order to display a web page like "www.google.com", instead of the white background, I can see the window behind. It's just like the white color is fully transparent. I've try to add a screenshot to this topic but I don't have enough "reputation" yet.
How can I remove this opacity behavior and have the default white background ? Do I need to initialize the webBrowser with white background color ?
Thank you.!
You've most likely accidentally set the TransparencyKey() of the Form to White. Clear that field and see if that fixes the problem.

I’m creating an app and need to make a signup/login page. I added a background using a picture and a zstack and on top I have the text and text fields. The text fields are showing up but not allowing me to add padding as well as there is no title text showing. Please help.my code
Did some more testing to find out that this happens whenever I use a textfield over an image. Not sure if this is a bug or not but it seems to be because as soon as the zstack is removed everything works.
At last ive discovered the issue, the text fields are extending way out of the canvas. Ive fixed the width of the textfield as a temporary solution but still looking for a way to fix this relative to the screen rather than the background as the field extends to the size of the image. Let me know if you can help as im just starting to use xcode!
I think its because the image cause canvas to be much more bigger and you use edgesIgnoringSafearea(.all)
Try to use on the image clipped() method and i think it will fix your issue with the padding.
And also try to add foregroundColor to the test fields
Check this link this is exactly what my problem is..
At Form_Load:
Me.BackgroundImage = My.Resources.black_gradient_background
I even deleted back color property at designer, it reverted to default, but..
still...
But the image is there, I can see it when loading the form, then it disappears, its like in the back. Why is that? I tried to create new form, added that background image, its working fine. What did I do? >.<
UPDATE I tried Restarting VS, did it to another form. look what happened:
The BGimage only appeared on the left groupBox. O_o
Try changing form layout from RtoL to LtoR
As Hans says you are blocking the image with other controls, you need to set the other controls that you want the image to show through as transparent Control.BackColor = Color.Transparent.
First and foremost, please forgive me but my screenshots are in French due to my Windows installation at work. It is still very easy to understand though. I'll include screenshots to make it more visually appealing.
Here's some background information:
Windows 7 64bit
Visual Studio 2010
Default display is 100%
AutoScaleMode: DPI
AutoSize: True
My application is a windows form that was developped in a default (small - 100%) display. Like so:
As you can see, the "Petite" or Small display is the default selection.
Small Display - 100% (default)
Here is how my application looks with this setting. This is the correct display
Medium Display - 125%
The red rectangles point out the unwanted empty space.
I have tried:
Anchoring / Docking my controls such as my split containers, table layout panels, list views on Form_Load and via the UI. This didn't work.
Adding a split container to the form, and all controls respectively separated into it
Adding Table layout panels, where all textboxes and buttons are located in their respective cells
I really thought it was having a scaling problem because of the anchoring and docking. Although that didn't seem to be the problem ... What seems to be having trouble is the Tab Control and Listviews ...
Some users (most) have their settings as the default (100%) but there are a few who have it at a Medium setting, causing this scaling issue. Is there a way to fix this?
I cant see your screenshots or links for some reason so I cannot visualize the problem. If scaling is the problem, try setting AutoScaleMode to None.
I recently had to do this because my winform app was image intensive and it would not render correctly on Medium Settings because I built it using the default Small Settnigs display. Changing scale mode to None worked for me.
I fixed my issue by putting the tab controls and list views in a tablelayoutpanel. Everything that wasn't scaled properly had to be put inside a TableLayoutPanel. I kept my AutoScaleMode to DPI and AutoSize to True
Be sure to dock everything in their parent containers.
Here's the document outline for the more visual (like me):
Just click on the form and go to property pane. Find the Anchor element and click the dropdown. You click on all the lines in the square structure to become grey. Then click enter. Problem resolved.
First Off, I found this extremely useful page on theme brushes:
http://metro.excastle.com/xaml-system-brushes
So Roughly, on startup for WinRT/XAML I am setting my theme brush for a textbox in a stylesheet:
Foreground = TextBoxDisabledForegroundThemeBrush
Background = TextBoxDisabledBackgroundThemeBrush
Which at run time makes the textbox appear as: white border, transparent background and grey text. Which I was hoping it would make it transparent, white border and white text.
On my Tapped event, I change the textbox to:
Foreground = TextBoxButtonPressedForegroundThemeBrush
Background = TextBoxButtonPressedForegroundThemeBrush
Which is supposed to be black background, white text and white border. Which seems right, but the cursor is back and you cannot see it.
First question is, am I doing this right to change my text color? I want to change the textbox so once it is selected it stays a changed color. I think this is correct. But I am not sure if I should be setting Foreground or maybe a Font Style instead?
Unfortunately you can't change caret color so if you want your TextBox editable - you should keep the background white or otherwise light. Otherwise, controlling the look of your control in its various states is best done using VisualStateManager and that is easiest to manipulate using Blend.
We are using a UITextView with a dark background. As such we have made the text white color in order to be easier to read. The problem is the magnify window that pops up when you hold down your finger to move the insertion point uses white for the text color as well. This makes it impossible to see exactly where the insertion point is.
Is it possible to independently control the text color used in the magnify window?
Here is a screen shot illustrating the problem.
I just did a quick test in here and it's working fine.
I tested with firmware 2.2.1, in the simulator and using a device.
This is what I did to test it:
1- Created a new View-Based project
2- edited the nib in the Interface Builder, added a UITextView, setting the text to white and the background to gray, leaving everything else default
Do you have something different?
Hmm, it works correctly in the Notes app. Not only is the background yellow, you also see the lines.
Maybe it depends on whether you set the background color directly on the UITextView or make it transparent and set the background color of its containing view?
I don't think you have any control over that. And I think you should file a bug report with Apple over that. It should be smarter than that.
