Get Popup new target origin when screen edge is encountered - xaml

I have an issue with popup placement and especially the target origin.
I want to apply a Metro UI style to my combobox so there's no border between the textbox and the itemslist.
It works well when the popup is placed at the bottom
Placement="Bottom"
but when it encounters the bottom edge of the screen the target origin becomes the top of the placement target.
I'd like to know when the target origin changes to the top left corner, that way i could change the borderthickness of the control. Unfortunately the placement property is not reset to the new target origin so I'm a bit lost here.

The placement is set to custom here, it's the only workaround i've found to have something that suits me. But if I want metro like comboboxes I need to know where the popup really shows up...

uwp xbox app XYNavigation in Pivot Control

I am an experienced uwp developer but a beginner for uwp xbox platform. I am trying to set the XY Navigation for my app and trying to test it with keyboard (as I don't own a xbox myself).
I am using a Pivot view and I can easily navigate between the pivot items with right and left arrow keys, which makes sense. but when my settings page is selected with pivot option (settings pivot header is focused and settings pivot item is in view) then I try to shift my focus vertically downwards to the first control in the settings page (radio buttons) but I am not able to do it the focus remains on settings header and doesn't shift downward on the page.
So how can I shift the focus downwards from a pivot header to the 1st control within the page on pressing down, and vice versa i.e : when 1st control is focused I should move up to go back to the header of the pivot of that page, because I think that is the traditional navigation with pivot control on uwp xbox right?
Secondly the docs and the xbox app dev videos I watched recommended to set the focus on an element which makes sense, when the app loads, should that be done with this.Focus() method or is there a more efficient way to do it with xaml?

The MSDN has listed several scenarios that XY navigation might not work the way you expect:
The IsTabStop or Visibility property is set wrong.
The control getting focus is actually bigger than you think—XY navigation looks at the total size of the control (ActualWidth and ActualHeight), not just the portion of the control that renders something interesting.
One focusable control is on top of another—XY navigation doesn't support controls that are overlapped.
If XY navigation is still not working the way you expect after fixing these issues, you can manually point to the element that you want to get focus using the method described in Overriding the default navigation.
Please first check these scenarios, after that, if you still could not solve this issue. Please provide a Minimal, Complete, and Verifiable example. I will help you diagnose it on my side.

Apply Parallax effect into GridView

this is microsoft instruction to use the paralax they use the ListView to demo the effect
but my data is stored inside the Grid.View so can anyone show me how to implement into it ?

ParallaxView works with GridView. The Source property of ParallaxView is for setting the element that either is or contains the ScrollViewer that controls the parallax operation. Here in your code snippet it bind the ForegroundElement to Source property but no such an element in. You need to name the GridView as ForegroundElement .

Besides this, the code snippet should work well. If you still cannot see the effects it may be caused by items count is not enough. ScrollViewer inside the GridView or ListView only be shown when the host control's layout space is being constrained smaller than the expanded content size, details please see ScrollViewer in a control template. You could try to add more items to check the effects.

How to change listpicker dropdown ItemTemplate background?

I have a Windows Phone 8 listpicker that I'm trying to change the background color of, however, it only seems to change the item background and not the dropdown box background as you can see in the screen capture. The dropdown box seems to be binded to the WP8 theme. How can I change the background of the entire dropdown box and not just each individual item?

So your issue was that you were attempting to apply an image to an item. When you needed to hit the control itself that the items populate via ItemsPresenter so by pulling out the default style template for the control, and either making a place to pass in your image for an instance, or placing one directly into the template itself. You get your resulting background image for the ListPicker background to fall behind the items populating it.

How to make a Stack Panel Visible based on the Tapped Event of a ListView in Windows Phone 8.1?

In my application, I am having a ListView. ListView lists a set of images.
So when the application is running, and when that page is loaded, a list of images are shown.

As you can see from the code, I have one image & stackpanel inside the listview. And the stackpanel's visibility has been set to collapsed for convenience.
The StackPanel imageTitle resides inside the ListView. Stackpanel contains a TextBlock housing the images name. For now it's dumy text.
On Tapping any image in the list, I am trying to make the stackPanel visible.
The Code Behind:

Since the stackpanel is inside the listview & I am trying to make it visible on the tap event of the listview, I am not able to acheive the needed result. I know my code is wrong.
If I specify the stackpanel outside the listview, I can make it visible using the code I gave inside the ListView_Tapped function. But even in that case, I need to show the stackpanel (name of the image I clicked) inside the listview item (image I clicked).
Any help??
Can this be achieved using only XAML?
Here's a pure xaml way.
Rather than changing the Visibility of the imageTitle (not a great UX), let's change its Opacity to make its appearing more interesting.
First we need to create a storyboard inside this data template. This storyboard will fade in the imageTitle in 400ms.
And then we drag a ControlStoryboard behavior from Expression Blend's Asset panel onto the top level Grid. Basically we want the storyboard to fire off when this Grid is tapped.

It's just another way to change a property - JustinXL's answer will provide nice animation with opacity, which will look much better.
I dunno why you specifically want to handle the scenario using XAML. For the Microsoft's recommended MVVM model you should bind a property to your element field and then you can write a converter for the same to return back "Visible" or "Collapse".

I cant place or set background or border of my user control

I've created a simple user control for my xaml project, but as you can see from my image i cant seem to be able to do certain things.
Ignore the red line, its the size of the control for illustrate its size.
It's placement should be middle of the screen:

As for my third problem, having the events in the canvas causes the Move slider to be interrupted, making me only able to push it a little each time :-/
In case TileMenu is a UserControl you would have to set these properties on the top level container in the UserControl's XAML as this defines the entire visual structure of the control.
You could bind to the appropriate values in the UserControl, however:
