RadiusNetworks iBeacon virtual machine - virtual-machine

Has anyone tried RadiusNetworks iBeacon virtual machine? When I am asked to fill in the login and password I use the ones that are used to access their developers area, but it says the password is wrong.
When running the virtual machine for the first time there was a prompt warning about a wifi interface problem... may it be the cause of this? Or am I just writing a wrong user/password?

Sorry for the confusion. I work for Radius Networks, and use the iBeacon Virtual Machine regularly. Here is a link to some more detailed instructions:
https://github.com/RadiusNetworks/android-ibeacon-service/wiki/Virtual-iBeacon
I would need to see the exact wording of the "wifi interface problem" you mention. But the virtual machine has no need for a WiFi connection (it just needs a Bluetooth LE dongle.) So the warning may be harmless.

How is browsing from a virtual machine/virtual box preventing fingerprinting or tracking?

is it increasing your internet security in terms of privacy/tracking/fingerprinting, if you are surfing with your web browser in a virtual machine enviroinment (virtual box + vpn)? Instead of surfing from your normal windows operating system...
Or is a virtual machine not helping you in fingerprinting cases? I just want to understand if you can use a virtual machine as a additional privacy tool and if yes, on what aspects would it have an impact (ip address, virus infections, fingerprinting, etc.)?
Thanks
When you're hosting a VM on your local machine, it may share the same IP as your host, as far as the outside world is concerned. Most hypervisors allow you to change how it obtains an IP address, but in typical configs it will only change on your local network, which is probably NATed behind a single address provided by your ISP. A VPN is a good way to change that, and you can configure that either inside or outside the VM, though ideally you'd no want to be sharing an IP with your host system.
Using a VM can help against fingerprinting because you can be running a different browser in a different OS in your VM than on your host system - but that instance itself can be tracked/fingerprinted, so it may be a good idea to rotate through a series of different configurations (or use a browser plugin that randomises some settings, such as reported browser version, OS, installed fonts, etc), and to throw away changes in your VM each time you use it, which will eliminate even the hardest of "supercookies" that might try to track you.
Unless your hypervisor is compromised (this has happened in the past, but it's rare), the VM itself will provide good protection from malware - for example Windows malware will have no effect on a Linux VM, and vice versa - and any malware that does infect your VM is contained by the sandbox that the VM provides - and you can simply reset it to return to a known-clean state, or throw it away and start again.

Is it possible to forward host USB devices to EDK2's NT32 emulation platform?

I'm a bit new in UEFI driver development.
I have an UEFI application-bootloader that checks all USB tokens that are currently present in system. It works ok on hardware and Vmware VM, but I would like to test in NT32 emulator from EDK2 to be able to use source-level debugging.
Vmware has required feature for forwarding any removable device from host to VM. I try to do the same for NT32.
Have anyone worked on this issue before? Is it possible to forward USB token? Or maybe this token can be emulated somehow?
Continuous searching haven't gave me much information.
I suspect that it can be done with some tricky settings in package file Nt32Pkg/Nt32Pkg.dsc.
Possibly gEfiNt32PkgTokenSpaceGuid.PcdWinNtPhysicalDisk or gEfiNt32PkgTokenSpaceGuid.PcdWinNtVirtualDisk parameters can be useful, but I'm not sure.
Thanks everyone in advance for your efforts.

Virtual Machine - Mouse/Keyboard events on Virtual Machine integrate with main machine

sorry for bad English. I have a virtual machine and there i installed a software that make some events.
But this events only happens on virtual machine.
Exist any possibility to this events works in my main machine? I mean, an integration between virtual machine and main machine, so when for example my software on virtual machine press "A" keyboard key, on MAIN machine also will happen a "A" press keyboard key?
Thanks
Depending on what you are using VMware, VirtualBox, etc , you will need to install the appropriate software on the guest, so you can enable features like, bi-directional copy paste etc.
Once you have this set up you can look up in internet the exact configuration for your hypervisor.
For example here is a working solution for VirtualBox.
VMWare have notoriously bad documentation, also I couldn't find similar feature for the VMPlayer or the workstation. Here is a link to get you started
Hope the links are helpful .

Cannot remote into raspberry pi via hostname

Let me start by saying that I have no experience with Linux and this is my first attempt at getting into the IoT with a raspberry pi3. My question is why can I connect via ssh to my pi when I use the ip address but not the hostname?
After getting everything set up at home, I tried to remote in via PuTTY from my laptop. (The laptop is less than 6 months old and if I need to provide the specs on it, I can. It is running windows 10 if that matters). It worked when I entered the ip address of the pi, but when I tried again with the host name (which is clearly defined in the raspberry pi configuration) it said host does not exist. I used hostname.local and still failed.
Today, I brought the whole setup to work to try a few more scenarios. From my work desktop, which is running windows 7 and not wireless, I could remote in via hostname.local. I then tried again on a different laptop running windows 7 and it worked too. Next attempt was on another new (less than 3 months old) laptop running windows 10 and it failed to remote in via the hostname.
This would tell me that there is nothing wrong with my home network or the network at work, and it also makes me think that this has nothing to do with the pi, since other computers can resolve the hostname to the ip address and successfully login. What the hell am I doing wrong or missing?
I spent 2 nights googling and browsing forums trying to find an answer for this but cant, so instead of bashing this post, please poke me for more information you think might be helpful for a solution.
EDIT I gave my computer and PI to my cousin to fix. He installed Samba, though I don't know what it does differently. After doing more research, it sounds like the problem I was having was a DNS issue. I don't know how it was resolved by downloading samba on the pi, but I can now connect via the hostname.
So if I understand correctly it would appear that there is some particular settings on that laptop preventing you from using SSH if that is the only thing you are changing? I think this is likely to be something to do with the security settings on the laptop but Windows isn't my thing sorry.

How to push/show notifications from the guest OS to the host OS in VMware player

I am wondering if there is any way to get VMware Player to blink or show a message in the window title or perform some similar notifying action whenever there is some activity inside the guest operating system.
I run a Windows VM on a Linux box. If I am working on the host OS and an email or IM or any notification appears on a window inside the Windows VM, there is no way for me to be notified of that in the host OS. I am wondering if there is any practical solution to this or if this is an intrinsic limitation of virtualization. Any thoughts? Thanks.
This is an intrinsic limitation of type 2 virtualization, if you're able to get out the virtual machine it means something went wrong in terms of security.
BUT, you can still solve your problem. Both the host and the VM are connected to the Internet (and sometimes connected on the same internal network). You have a common resource, so they can communicate. The easiest solution in your example is to use an external notification service like pushbullet (if you don't mind it to be hosted elsewhere) or pushjet (if you want to self host).
