In WinRT how do I prevent a click in the Slider tickbar? - windows-8

IN XAML we have a simple slider control. We want to disable clicking in the tick bar, but still allow the user to use the slider thumb grabber thingy. Any ideas?

Try editing the slider template in Blend and set IsHitTestVisible on TopTickBar/BottomTickBar/Both(as applicable) to false.
Should work.

Slider control: border is invisible until I press and drag it

Why can't I see the slider bar in iOS and Android, only the thumb? In the simulator it's visible all the time. I have defined Slider and SliderFull in theme.res under "Unselected", and nowhere else.
I found a workaround: defining the styles in code instead of in the gui builder.

XAML AppBarButton Hover Colors

I'm developing a Universal Windows App in VS2015 (C#, XAML).
I have an AppBarButton on a RelativePanel, The panel's background is black.
When I move the mouse over the button (Hover), it turns black with a darkgray background, which is not visible on a dark background:
Please tell me how to change the colors for the button in all mouse states: hover, mousedown,...etc.
Thank you
You need to create custom style template for button to overwrite the hover effect and behaviour.
Please open the button in Blend by using Edit A copy and then edit its template! you might need to remove some element.
Mostly it shall be a button as the property of changing color is exhibited by a button control

Controlling the AutoScroll behavior on Panel

I have a set of controls inside of a Panel and set the AutoScroll property of the panel to True so I get the Vertical ScrollBar but when I slide the bar is not smooth and if some of the upper controls inside the panel have the focus the bar return to the top.
I read some about and found a solution on
smooth scroll with autoscroll
Which work Ok but uses a lot of resources, I see it on Windows Task Manager, one of the processors goes about 60%, so I think is something wrong with this.
There's another way to met the same goal?
I tried to put my own VerticalScrollBar unsuccessfully. :(

How do I scroll with the scrollbar?

I am currently working on a project in VB.NET and I have a fixed-border form with the AutoScroll property set to True. Under the Load event, I have some loops that add a bunch of controls to the form, so I have AutoScroll create the scrollbar for me automatically.
Now when I open up this form, all the controls load up with no problem, it focuses on my first text box, and the scroll bar shows up. However, the mouse wheel does not do anything whatsoever.
So my question is, how do I, no matter where my focus or mouse is, scroll with the AutoScroll property enabled, in VB.NET?
as far as i know, scrolling is only enabled when focusing the appropriate element. but should be able to trigger scrolling by catching onmouseover() or similar...
this is somthing similar (just for a datagrid) scrolling datagridview without get focus

giving effects to buttons in vb.net

Image shows the buttons on my UI in vb.net
All these buttons are having background images. Now what i want is these buttons be shown as inactive when actions corresponding to them are not available so I am making them cmd.enable = false but still on UI there is no visual effect of this disabling them on these buttons. They keep looking same as in enabled mode. So how to give effect of disabled state to these buttons.
In the same way i want effect to be visible when mouse is hovered over these buttons and buttons are clicked
They don't look like buttons at all, it looks like a row of images. Use a real Button or a ToolStrip with ToolStripButtons, set their Image property. When you set their Enabled property to false then they automatically remove all color from the image, making it look disabled.
