test if jms listener is working - testing

i want to test if the JMS listener is working !
to do that i want to test if the Queue size do not change for more than 5 seconds that means that the listener is not working
what should i add to my code please

If the listener is designed, coded and configured correctly it should be working unless there's a problem with the provider. If there is a problem with the provider, the client portion of the provider should detect it and call your ExceptionListener, if it is defined.
So, I would provide an ExceptionListener, by having your class implement the ExceptionListener:

then set the listener on the connection to this class:
connection.setExceptionListener(this);
then provide the recovery code:

WP7: Unable to catch FaultException in asynchronous calls to WCF service

I am currently developing a Windows Phone 7 App that calls a WCF web service which I also control. The service offers an operation that returns the current user's account information when given a user's login name and password:

Of course, there is always the possibility of an authentication failure and I want to convey that information to the WP7 app. I could simply return null in that case, but I would like to convey the reason why the authentication failed (i.e. login unknown, wrong password, account blocked, ...).
This is my implementation of the above operation (for testing purposes, all it does is throwing an exception):

Now, I would love to catch the exception in my code, but I am never given the chance, since my Completed handler is never reached.
Based on similar questions on this site, I have already tried the following:
Re-add the service reference --> no change
Re-create a really simple WCF service from scratch --> same problem
Start the app without the debugger to keep the app from breaking into the debugger --> well, it doesn't break, but the exception is not caught either, the app simply exits
Tell VS 2010 not to break on FaultExceptions (Debug > Options) --> does not have any effect
wrap every line in my app in try { ... } catch (FaultException) {} or even catch (Exception) --> never called.

The framework seems to read your WsAccountInfo.Result property.
This rethrows the exception on client side.
But you should be the first to read this property.
I don't know your AuthenticationFault class, does it have a DataContractAttribute and is it a known type like the example in
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.servicemodel.faultcontractattribute.aspx ?
I believe I had the same problem. I resolved it by extending the proxy class and calling the private Begin.../End... methods within the Client object rather than using the public auto-generated methods on the Client object.

WCF Proxy Client taking time to create, any cache or singleton solution for it

we have more than dozon of wcf services and being called using TCP binding. There are a lots of calls to same wcf service at various places in code.

Yes, this is possible. You can make the proxy object visible to the entire application, or wrap it in a singleton class for neatness (my preferred option). However, if you are going to reuse a proxy for a service, you will have to handle channel faults.
First create your singleton class / cache / global variable that holds an instance of the proxy (or proxies) that you want to reuse.
When you create the proxy, you need to subscribe to the Faulted event on the inner channel
proxyInstance.InnerChannel.Faulted += new EventHandler(ProxyFaulted);
and then put some reconnect code inside the ProxyFaulted event handler. The Faulted event will fire if the service drops, or the connection times out because it was idle. The faulted event will only fire if you have reliableSession enabled on your binding in the config file (if unspecified this defaults to enabled on the netTcpBinding).
Edit: If you don't want to keep your proxy channel open all the time, you will have to test the state of the channel before every time you use it, and recreate the proxy if it is faulted. Once the channel has faulted there is no option but to create a new one.
Edit2: The only real difference in load between keeping the channel open and closing it every time is a keep-alive packet being sent to the service and acknowledged every so often (which is what is behind your channel fault event). With 100 users I don't think this will be a problem.
The other option is to put your proxy creation inside a using block where it will be closed / disposed at the end of the block (which is considered bad practice). Closing the channel after a call may result in your application hanging because the service is not yet finished processing. In fact, even if your call to the service was async or the service contract for the method was one-way, the channel close code will block until the service is finished.
Here is a simple singleton class that should have the bare bones of what you need:

In my experience, creating/closing the channel on a per call basis adds very little overhead. Take a look at this Stackoverflow question. It's not a Singleton question per se, but related to your issue. Typically you don't want to leave the channel open once you're finished with it.
I would encourage you to use a reusable ChannelFactory implementation if you're not already and see if you still are having performance problems.

Monotouch: UIAlertView and WCF services, debugger.StackTrace

I'm currently using WCF in monotouch to call an existing service and a custom UIAlertView.
The problem is that if I create an UIAlertView as class instance and the I do the following:

the first time the code run, but now alert is shown. The second time the simulator can't startup. Couldn't register "com.yourcompany.wcftest" with the bootstrap server. Error: unknown error code. This generally means that another instance of this process was already running or is hung in the debugger.StackTrace. In this case I have to reboot the machine.

Why? Maybe I didn't understand, but in the first snippet of code do something() works in the UI thread!! Isn't true?
You have 2 seperate problems here.
1: _alertView.Hide () is not running on the UI thread (this is what causes the fences error)
2: In your second example you're disposing the UIAlertVeiw immediately after creating it, but you have a instance delegate dangled off it. This crashes the runtime in a hard way, and then when you run it again since the old crashed process is still running the simulator wont let you start a second instance.
Use case #1 but do _alterView.InvokeOnMainThread (delegate { _alertView.Hide (); });

NserviceBus. How to start several buses in different AppDomains?

I want to have several buses in one process. I googled about this and found that it is possible only if having several AppDomains. But I cannot make it work.

I need several buses to solve the following problem :
I have my target application, and several plugins with it. We decided to make our plugins according to service bus pattern.
Each plugin can have several profiles.
So, target application(it is web app.) is publishing message, that something has changed in it. Each plugin which is subscribed to this message, need to do some action for each profile. But plugin knows nothing about its profiles (customers are writing plugins). Plugin should only have profile injected in it, when message handling started.
We decided to have some RecepientList (pattern is described in "Enterprise Integration Patterns"), which knows about plugin profiles, iterates through them and re-send messages with profiles injected.(So if plugin has several profiles, several messages will be sent to it).
But I don't want to have each plugin invoked in a new process. Perfectly I want to dynamically configure buses for each plugin during start. All in one process. But it seems I need to do it in separate AppDomains. So I have a problem described above:-).

I'm unclear as to why each plugin needs to have its own bus. Could they all not sit on the same bus? Each plugin developer would write their message handlers as before, and the subscriptions would happen automatically by the bus.
Then, also, you wouldn't need to specify to load each of the NServiceBus DLLs.
BTW, loading an assembly by name tends to cause problems - try using this to specify assemblies:

WCF Callback channel faulted

I'm trying to implement a reconnect logic for a wcf client. I'm aware that you have to create a new channel after the current channel entered the faulted state. I did this in a channel faulted event handler:

But in my unit test I still get a "The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state" exception.
Is it possible that the callback channel is still faulted and if yes how can I replace the callback channel?
so far I have experienced that a WCF connection needs to be recreated on fault - there doesn't seem to be a way to recover it otherwise. As for when a fault occurs, the method seems to fire fine, but often it fires and cleans up the WCF connection (establishing a new one, etc) as the current request is going through - causing this to fail - especially true on timeouts.
A couple of suggestions:
- If it is timeout related, keep track of the last time a call was made and a constant containing the timeout value. If the WCF connection will have been dropped due to inactivity, drop it and recreate it before you send the request over the wire.
- The other thing, it looks like you are not re-adding the fault handler, which means the first fault will get handled, but the second time it faults it will fall over without a handler cause no new one has been attached.

Have you tried to reset the communications channel by calling mServiceClient.Abort in the Faulted event handler?

I see that you do not reinitialize the mCallback object in your recovery code. You may need to assign it to a new instance.
