I'm trying to make a tableview with customized cells.
I've created 2 files .m and .h that refer to my class CustomCell.
Here is the code :
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#interface CustomCell : UITableViewCell
{
IBOutlet UIImageView *miniLogo;
IBOutlet UILabel *cellText;
IBOutlet UIButton *deleteButton;
}
#property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *miniLogo;
#property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UILabel *cellText;
#property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIButton *deleteButton;
#end
-------------------------------------------------------------
#import "CustomCell.h"
#implementation CustomCell
#synthesize miniLogo,cellText, deleteButton;
- (id)initWithStyle:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier
{
self = [super initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier];
if (self) {
// Initialization code
}
return self;
}
-(void)layoutSubviews{
[super layoutSubviews];
}
/*
- (void)setSelected:(BOOL)selected animated:(BOOL)animated
{
[super setSelected:selected animated:animated];
// Configure the view for the selected state
}*/
#end
With a .xib file, i've designed my cell, and connected the IBOutlets and set the Identifier for the cell.
In the table with my customized cells, I call the cells in the method tableView:cellForRowAtOndexPath: like this :
CustomCell *cell = (CustomCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellsIdentifier ];
if (cell == nil){
UIViewController *tempVC = [[UIViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"CustomCell" bundle:nil];
cell = (CustomCell *)tempVC.view;
}
When I launch my app, the labels display the texts set, and the image views show the right images. But the buttons don't appear. In fact, when setting break points, I seen that address for my buttons are always 0x00000000 (means that my buttons aren't initiated).
Can someone help me to solve this problem please.
I've found the problem.
In he viewDidLoad I was doing :
UINib *cellNib = [UINib nibWithNibName:#"myCells" bundle:nil];
[self.tableView registerNib:cellNib forCellReuseIdentifier:CellsIdentifier];
But because I have changed my .xib name, I wasn't loading the right interface.
What is strange is that I don't have any nib named "myCells".
Maybe I should have perform a "clean" on my project...

I am a very beginner of objective c and I wanted to create a scene about using 2 child view controller in a master view controller which includes MapKit and TableView. I ve searched it on internet for 1 day and but I couldn't make any of solutions since I failed in different steps of each suggestions. I know that there are a lot of way to pass data between View Controllers and I thought the best way is using delegation logic in this situation. (let me know if I am wrong please). By the way, I can update or move the cursor onto specific location WHEN I set a dummy button on MapKitViewController, so MapKit part is not where I am failing at. I am pretty sure that the problem is about communication between 2 View Controllers which are active at the same time.
Problem:
Updating MapView by clicking a table row of TableView which includes location coordinate detail. Both children view are set on a MasterViewController by 2 container views.
Tried so far:
Created a method "goToLocation:(Location*) location" in MapViewController and sent parameters to this method from TableViewController. =>(Lat and Long parameters received by goToLocation() but MapKitView doesn't get updated)
Tried to create a delegate logic between MapView and TableView.=>(Probably I couldn't create it properly. Please see below)
What I want :
I want to know what part I am doing wrong. Is there a easy or proper way to achieve that ?
TableViewController.h
#class TableViewController; //define class
#protocol TableViewDelegate <NSObject> //define delegate protocol
//define delegate method to be implemented within another class
- (void) locationSelected: (TableViewController *) sender object:(Location *) location;
#end
#property (nonatomic, weak) id <TableViewDelegate> delegate; //define TableViewVCDelegate as delegate
TableViewController.m
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
[self notifyNow:[_locations objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]];
}
- (void) notifyNow:(Location *) location {
//this will call the method implemented in your other class
[self.delegate locationSelected:self object:(Location *) location];
NSLog(#"Selected: %#",[location name]);
}
MapViewController.h
//make it a delegate for TableViewVCDelegate
#interface MapViewController : UIViewController <TableViewDelegate>
MapViewController.m
- (void)viewDidLoad {
_tableViewController = [[TableViewController alloc]init];
_tableViewController.delegate = self; //set its delegate to self somewhere
}
!!_ This Method Doesn't Get Triggered _!!
- (void)locationSelected:(TableViewController *)sender object:(Location *)location {
NSLog(#"%# is great!", [location name]);
}
MainViewController.m (Master/Root View Controller)
#import "MainViewController.h"
#import "MapViewController.h"
#import "TableViewController.h"
#interface MainViewController ()
#property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIView *topCont;
#property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIView *bottomCont;
#property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIView *safeArea;
#end
#implementation MainViewController
MapViewController *mapViewVC;
TableViewController *tableViewVC;
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[super viewDidLoad];
// Do any additional setup after loading the view.
[self.navigationController setNavigationBarHidden:YES animated:YES];
tableViewVC = [self.storyboard instantiateViewControllerWithIdentifier:#"TableViewController"];
mapViewVC = [self.storyboard instantiateViewControllerWithIdentifier:#"TopChildVC"];
[self addChildViewController:tableViewVC];
[tableViewVC.view setFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f,
0.0f,
self.safeArea.frame.size.width,
self.safeArea.frame.size.height/2)];
[self.bottomCont addSubview:tableViewVC.view];
[tableViewVC didMoveToParentViewController:self];
[self addChildViewController:mapViewVC];
[mapViewVC.view setFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f,
0.0f,
self.safeArea.frame.size.width,
self.safeArea.frame.size.height/2)];
[self.topCont addSubview:mapViewVC.view];
[mapViewVC didMoveToParentViewController:self];
}
#end
CONFIGURATION:
-UIviewController embedded in Navigationcontroller.
-UIviewController has a UIscrollview as subview
-UIscrollview has some views where charts are created: each view containing a chart has its own .h and .m file and from this file I want trigger a segue to a tableview controller.
-A Tableviewcontroller was added in xcode and a segue from the UIviewController to the TableViewcontroller was created as well (Xcode)
-created a protocol in the UIView to have the segue pushed from there.
PROBLEM:
delegate always nil, segue method will never be called
UIVIEW .h file
#protocol UItoUIvcDelegate <NSObject>
-(void)triggerSegue;
#end
#interface CFfirstGraph : UIView <CPTPlotDataSource , CPTPieChartDelegate,UIActionSheetDelegate>
#property(weak, nonatomic) id <UItoUIvcDelegate> delegate;
#end
UIVIEW .m file (snippet)
-(void)pieChart:(CPTPieChart *)pieChart sliceWasSelectedAtRecordIndex:(NSUInteger)index
{
if (self.delegate == nil)
{
NSLog(#"nil");
}
[self.delegate triggerSegue];
}
UIVIEWCONTROLLER .h file
#import "CFfirstGraph.h"
#interface CFMainViewController : UIViewController <UItoUIvcDelegate, UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource>
#end
UIVIEWCONTROLLER .m file (snippet)
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
self.scrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(320, 1000);
[self.view addSubview:self.scrollView];
CFfirstGraph *click =[[CFfirstGraph alloc]init];
click.delegate = self ;
}
-(void)triggerSegue
{
[self performSegueWithIdentifier:#"detailedData" sender:self];
NSLog(#"estoy aqui");
}
What am I doing wrong ? why the delegate is always nil ? I tried to add the method setDelegate but still no luck.
Thanks,
dom
Make CFfirstGraph as a strong property.
#property (strong, nonatomic) CFfirstGraph * click;
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
self.click =[[CFfirstGraph alloc]init];
self.click.delegate = self ;
self.scrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(320, 1000);
[self.view addSubview:self.scrollView];
}
ok, after many hours of sweat I found the issue.
First...delegate = nil was not the main problem.
The real issue was the protocol method triggering the segue was never called.
If i create and initialize a CFfirstGraph object (or even property) it won't be related to the view created already in x-code, and this is the main issue.
On the other hand...if I "CTRL-drag" an outlet from the UIview to the CFMainViewController i will have a property that is exactly the one i need:
#interface CFMainViewController () <UIScrollViewDelegate>
#property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet CFfirstGraph *FirstGraph;
Then i assign the delegate to self (CFMainViewController) in the viewDidLoad:
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
self.FirstGraph.delegate = self ;
}
and the delegate method "triggerSegue" will be executed being called from the UIVIEW.
Best Regards,
dom
I'm trying to use a UICollectionView and it's viewCell. I have that going fine. But on the viewcell form I have a button that I intend to have go to a settings view. I'm trying to "push it onto the stack". Xcode complains of "no visible interface for the selector". Some code and the error message are below.
// TryColViewCell.h
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#import "TryColViewContViewController.h"
#interface TryColViewCell : UICollectionViewCell
#property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UILabel *outletNameLBL;
#property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UILabel *outletCellLabel;
#property (readwrite) NSInteger intTest;
#property (readwrite) TryColViewContViewController *theHost;
- (IBAction)actionPlus1:(id)sender;
- (IBAction)actionMinus1:(id)sender;
- (IBAction)actionNameEdit:(id)sender;
// TryColViewCell.m
#import "TryColViewCell.h"
#import "SettingsViewController.h"
#implementation TryColViewCell {
#public int intCellNumber; //TODO: get this to track the row/cell #
}
- (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame
{
self = [super initWithFrame:frame];
if (self) {
// Initialization code
}
return self;
}
/*
// Only override drawRect: if you perform custom drawing.
// An empty implementation adversely affects performance during animation.
- (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect
{
// Drawing code
}
*/
- (IBAction)actionPlus1:(id)sender {
}
- (IBAction)actionMinus1:(id)sender {
}
- (IBAction)actionNameEdit:(id)sender {
NSLog(#"Name Edit");
SettingsViewController *viewControllerB =
[[SettingsViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"SettingsViewController" bundle:nil];
viewControllerB.propName = _outletNameLBL.text;
[self pushViewController:viewControllerB animated:YES];
[self.theHost pushViewController:viewControllerB animated:YES];
}
#end
// Error message on PushVIewController line
TryColViewCell.m:83:11: No visible #interface for 'TryColViewCell'
declares the selector 'pushViewController:animated:'
Push the new view controller from the view controller that contains the collection view, not the cell. Only a subclass of UIViewController has the method pushViewController:animated. to override.
In your table view controller, do something like this, assuming you are using storyboard:
-(UITableViewCell*)tableView:(UITableView*)tableView
cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath*)indexPath {
static NSString* identifier = #"Cell";
CellSubClass *cell =
(CellSubClass*) [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:identifier];
[cell.upButton addTarget:self selector:#selector(actionPlus1:)
forControlEvent:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[cell.downButton addTarget:self selector:#selector(actionMinus1:)
forControlEvent:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
...
}
I'm trying to create a custom UITableViewCell.
From XCode 4.6 interface builder, I've set the Style property of the cell to Custom. And added controls to the cell using drag and drop. 2 UILables and a UIButton. It looks like this.
I created a separate class deriving from UITableViewCell to assign the properties of the 3 UI elements and make the changes there. I've set the cell's custom class as DashboardCell from the Identity Inspector as well.
DashboardCell.h
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#interface DashboardCell : UITableViewCell
#property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UILabel *numberOfMails;
#property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UILabel *mailType;
#property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIButton *numberOfOverdueMails;
#end
DashboardCell.m
#import "DashboardCell.h"
#implementation DashboardCell
- (id)initWithStyle:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier
{
self = [super initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier];
if (self) {
[self.numberOfOverdueMails setBackgroundColor:[UIColor colorWithRed:244/255.0f green:119/255.0f blue:125/255.0f alpha:1.0f]];
[self.numberOfOverdueMails setTitle:#"lol" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
}
return self;
}
- (void)setSelected:(BOOL)selected animated:(BOOL)animated
{
[super setSelected:selected animated:animated];
// Configure the view for the selected state
}
#end
In the TableViewController, I have modified the following method to return my custom cell.
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
DashboardCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier forIndexPath:indexPath];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[DashboardCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
}
return cell;
}
My problem is even though the custom button shows up, the changes I've done (changing the background color of the button, changing the title of one UILabel) aren't showing up. What seems to be the mistake here?
The method initWithStyle:reuseIdentifier: will not be called because you're using interface builder to create a cell.
You can set the background color and title by overriding the method awakeFromNib.
You can also set these in the method tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath:
If you get your cell from a xib or storyboard, dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:forIndexPath: will always return a cell -- if one exists it will reuse it, if not it will create one from the template in IB. Therefore, your if(cell ==nil) clause will never be satisfied, and in fact is no longer needed. If you want to use an init method, then use initWithCoder:
I have an UITableVIew. Now I made my own UITableViewCell. But if my table appears nothing is shown. However the cells are still selectable and open the DetailView. Which command have I forgotten?
//Customize the appearance of table view cells.
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView: (UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"MainTableCell";
MainTableCell *cell = (MainTableCell*)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:Cel lIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[[MainTableCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDef ault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease];
}
// Configure the cell.
VerwaltungInformation *selectedFormel = [listOfFormularies objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
cell.FormelNameLabel.text = selectedFormel.nameFormel;
return cell;
}
Do I have to add special things? If somebody needs more code - please tell me.
Here is my MainTableCell.h:
import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#interface MainTableCell : UITableViewCell {
UILabel *FormelNameLabel;
UILabel *ErklaerungVerfuegbarLabel;
UILabel *BeispielVerfuegbarLabel;
UILabel *RechnerVerfuegbarLabel;
}
#property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *FormelNameLabel;
#property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *ErklaerungVerfuegbarLabel;
#property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *BeispielVerfuegbarLabel;
#property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *RechnerVerfuegbarLabel;`
#end
And here is my MainTableCell.m:
#import "MainTableCell.h"
#implementation MainTableCell
#synthesize FormelNameLabel;`
#synthesize ErklaerungVerfuegbarLabel;
#synthesize BeispielVerfuegbarLabel;
#synthesize RechnerVerfuegbarLabel;`
- (void)dealloc {
[FormelNameLabel release];
[ErklaerungVerfuegbarLabel release];
[BeispielVerfuegbarLabel release];
[RechnerVerfuegbarLabel release];
[super dealloc];
}
#end
you have commented this line
cell. VerwaltungInformation *selectedFormel = [listOfFormularies objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
and also check wthr
selectedFormel.nameFormel
contains any value.
ok, I'll try to answer.
1.try to NSLog this value selectedFormel.nameFormel before setting it to the label.text.
NSLog(#"selectedFormel.nameFormel:%#", selectedFormel.nameFormel);
2.Have you configured your cell properly? are you sure that for example FormelNameLabel's frame is not zero?
NSLog(#"cellFrame:%#", NSStringFromCGRect(cell.frame));
Are you sure that you have added a label to the cell as subview?
If all these things are done and it still shows nothing provide a code from your cell!
