How do I hyperlink from a PDF file to a specific page in a PPT file - pdf

I have a PowerPoint 2010 file saved as a PowerPoint Macro-enabled show (.ppsm) file. I have a hyperlink on a particular page of the PPSM and I've linked it to a PDF file. Great, it all works.
Now I need to put a hyperlink in the PDF file that will jump me back to the specific page in the PPSM, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. The information in another thread says to add "#15" (the page number) to the filename, but the link seems to put the entire file path. I also get an error that this is not a valid file name. I want to be able to just store the files together in the same directory and have them find each other with the file name, not the whole path.
All assistance gratefully accepted.

If you're running the slide show and link to a PDF file, the show is still running and sitting on the slide you linked from.
All you need to add to the PDF is a link that closes the PDF or possibly quits Acrobat/Reader altogether.
Open the PDF in Acrobat, add a link, choose Custom Link, click Next.
In Link Properties dialog box, go to the Actions tab
Select Action: Execute a menu item.
Click Add to get a list of available menu items, choose File, Close
or File, Exit.
If you need to return to some other page than the one you started on in PPT, it gets a bit trickier.

PDF file link question - can I link to a different page within the same file?

This question is about PDF format files, not JS or HTML. Inside a PDF file, I'd like to create a link to another page within the same file. This is useful for Table of Contents type page that needs to link to other pages. But the "Add Link" item in PDF editor in Acrobat doesn't seem to have this as an option -- only the opening of web links, or "documents" (external files, not the current one), etc. Welcome any pointers.
Of course, that's possible.
In the Link tool, you first set the active area (that's where you click to go to the destination.
In a first dialog, Acrobat asks for the properties of the active area. In the Link Action area, select Go to a page view. After clicking on Next, you get a next dialog, directing you to navigate to the target view (page and zoom factor). Confirm, and you have set up your linkā€¦

Print button didn't save the PDF file at a shared path, and no error logged

I have an Excel macro that uses SAP for printing data in pdf format.
Steps:
it access the SAP transaction which provides a table with the necessary information
it press Print button (from the Menu Bar of SAP)
then Print window appears (from here it is selected Microsoft Print To PDF option and then it is pressed OK button)
Save As window appears (complete the path and filename: \S\BC....\outputName)
then Save button it is pressed
then no error happens
But if I access the path folder "\S\BC....", nothing happen, there is no file saved. BUT, if we look in "Date modified" property of the folder, it is modified in accordance with the last saving time.
Also, I mention that if I'm trying to write the pdf file on local folders, not network shared folders (example: a desktop folder: C:\Users\mariah\Test), macro works.
Also, I mention that user can Read&Write at the shared path \S\BC....\
Please help me to find the cause of this issue.
A VBA macro only does what you are allowed to do manually. Can you manually save the file in the shared path without the macro?
Is the common path really \S\BC...\ or \ \S\BC...\ ?

ScriptMan
Solution proposed by the OP in this comment:
IT WORKS if I save the file on "C:\Users\UserName" and then cut it to shared path "S\BC...". So I've implemented code that saves the file in a path and then copy it to another path and then I deleted it from the first path (such that user never knows that I copy the file in other destination than desired destination).

Illustrator/PS images when sending to another computer?

I'm not sure how Photoshop works but when I receive an AI file from another computer I get an error regarding the images:
'Could not find the link file 'exampleimage.jpg'.
So I'm guessing the other person would have to send me the images separately?
Is this how Illustrator works?
I'm sure for Photoshop you don't have to do this?
Any info would be helpful.
Cheers
In Illustrator, if you go to menu File/Place, this will allow you to place other art files directly into your open illustrator document. If someone gives you that illustrator file and they do not give the "placed" files as well, when you open the illustrator document it will give you that error message because it cannot locate those files that were placed.
While using the "place" command in Illustrator, if the "link" check box is selected, anytime a placed file into illustrator gets edited and saved outside of illustrator, the edits made to that placed file will update the changes in Adobe Illustrator.
If the photos in their document are not embedded, you will need the images separately. Once you have the images, when you open the file on the new computer, you may need to manually associate the photos with each placeholder to make sure it renders properly.

Moodle PHP filehandeling

My problem is that we have made an block that opens a page witha a mform on it. And we use the editor element to start the tinyMCE editor, on the page. But when we save the output, the images oploaded to the text field is only viewable to the admin (the person who uploaded it) and in the mdl_files it sets it to be a draft file. I have been through the documentation, and i might have lost the context on the new page, but im not sure.
In Moodle, files uploaded to a form (either to a filemanager element or a text editor) are stored in a temporary 'draft' area while the form is being edited.
This is so that the actual files are not changed until the form is submitted (e.g. if an admin changed the image embedded in some text, deleting the original, you do not want anyone viewing the page during the editing to see a broken image link).
When working with files embedded in a text editor in Moodle, you need to make sure you copy all existing files into the 'draft' area before you show the form, then copy the 'draft' images into the real area, after the form is submitted.
See https://docs.moodle.org/dev/Using_the_File_API_in_Moodle_forms#editor for details about how to do this.
Please also note that your plugin will also need a PLUGINTYPE_PLUGINNAME_pluginfile() function in its lib.php, in order to authenticate any file requests from the user's browser and return the file contents. See any of the core activities for examples of this (e.g. mod/data/lib.php - function data_pluginfile()).

Downloading Files from a Crystal Report

I have a crystal report I am trying to pull images, word docs, and zip files onto the report as a downloadable hyperlink so that whoever prints the report will have the ability to download the "attachment" they choose locally to their desktop.
The files are stored in folders on a database server. The view in the database named "vAttachmentsReport" contains the file path which points to the folders where the images, word docs, and zip files are stored. I have attempted to create a formula:
however, still no luck. I haven't found much information or any articles/examples of anyone else doing this. Has anyone else seen any examples or created something similar?
I'm not sure about doing this in eclipse, but if you open it up in the Crystal Report Editor you can right click > Format Field and go to the Hyperlink tab. This tab gives you several options for linking other files, websites, ect. via Hyperlinks. Since your database field already has the location, I would recommend adding the name of the file from your database as a field in the report and in its Hyperlink tab select the 'A Website on the Internet' radio button. Then click the formula button and enter the name of the database field that contains your file path.
Note: this will only work if you can enter the file path into your Internet Browser's address bar and download the file. If that doesn't work you may need to add a prefix to the formula with the server's name or the website's name. To this up: you need the whole website address like "http://textfiles.com/100/914bbs.txt" as a result of your Hyperlink formula.
