UIPopoverControllerDelegate delegate methods not being called - objective-c

I have a screen with a button. Clicking the button will display a popover with two buttons. I want to be able to use the following method when the popover is dismissed:

So the OrderViewController - wants to know when SelectedItemsOptionsViewController has been dismissed.
I have the method declared (first block of code) and I am setting the delegate as:
SelectedItemsOptionsViewController *destViewController = (SelectedItemsOptionsViewController *)segue.destinationViewController;
popSegue = (UIStoryboardPopoverSegue *)segue;
[destViewController setDelegate:self];
destViewController.item = toDisplay;
So I am setting the delegate OK as far as i'm aware... the delegate property is #syntheized in th SelectedItemsOptionsViewController.m and well, its driving me a bit crazy.

I could be misunderstanding something here but looks like you're assigning the delegate for a UIViewController class, but where are you assigning the popOver its delegate, in the storyboard?

Obj-C / Using MapKitView and TableView together with delegation

I am a very beginner of objective c and I wanted to create a scene about using 2 child view controller in a master view controller which includes MapKit and TableView. I ve searched it on internet for 1 day and but I couldn't make any of solutions since I failed in different steps of each suggestions. I know that there are a lot of way to pass data between View Controllers and I thought the best way is using delegation logic in this situation. (let me know if I am wrong please). By the way, I can update or move the cursor onto specific location WHEN I set a dummy button on MapKitViewController, so MapKit part is not where I am failing at. I am pretty sure that the problem is about communication between 2 View Controllers which are active at the same time.
Problem:
Updating MapView by clicking a table row of TableView which includes location coordinate detail. Both children view are set on a MasterViewController by 2 container views.
Tried so far:
Created a method "goToLocation:(Location*) location" in MapViewController and sent parameters to this method from TableViewController. =>(Lat and Long parameters received by goToLocation() but MapKitView doesn't get updated)
Tried to create a delegate logic between MapView and TableView.=>(Probably I couldn't create it properly. Please see below)
What I want :
I want to know what part I am doing wrong. Is there a easy or proper way to achieve that ?

Objective-c - control outlet from other class

I just like to play with coding for a hobby, so probably a noob question;
I have a simple storyboard for MacOS with 2 views. Both have there own classes (main class and subclass). How can I control a outlet in the subclass from the main class?
for example
I have a button (IBAction) in the mainclass and a textfield (IBOutlet) in the subclass. I want to set the stringvalue for the textfield with a click on the button in main.
I have searched a lot last days but just don't get it. (or just need a push in the right direction)

I used the control-drag function to open the second window.

Update:
I've attached two screenshots of what it looks like in the storyboard for the first suggestion,
1) Add a view to your ViewController, set the class at the top right to 'YourView', 'YourView' is a just an NSView, add a textfield to it and hook it up.
2) Add YourView as a property to your ViewController, i.e. #property (nonatomic) IBOutlet NSView *yourView; and hook it up.
Let me know if there are any issues.
You just need to put the textfield in the public interface of your subclass, so you can access it in your main class, although it does sound like you're using inheritance and I don't think you need to but that's another topic :D.

Changing views on a window with a button click

what I'm basically trying to make is a very simple program that can switch back and forth between 2 views on a single window.
When the program loads there is a window with a custom view that contains a login button. When clicked, the view changes to a second custom view that contains a label and a logout button. I have this much working.
What I can't figure out is how to get the logout button to bring me back to the first view.
Here is the code for the AppDelegate class where i have the button method to switch the view:

The button method to go back to the login page is where I'm stuck. Even though I've added the header file for AppDelegate into myCustomClass I cannot use the instance of NSWindow. What am I doing wrong here? Am I at least on the right track? any help here is greatly appreciated.
I also tried using #class instead of #import, but still can't use the instance of NSWindow from AppDelegate.

UPDATE: The suggestions from Paul Patterson in his comments were very helpful, but haven't solved my problem. For now what I am doing to get my project to work is putting the buttons in the window instead of the views and then hiding them when i don't need them. This works and I can switch back and forth, however I still can't figure out how to use a button on a custom view itself to load a different view onto the same window.

Objective-C Protocols Not Sending Message

I have read around, and it seems as though delegates would be really useful in my app. Unfortunately, every tutorial about protocols I have tried has failed - the delegate is not receiving the message! It would be great if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I created a really simple test app with two ViewControllers, a FirstViewController and a SecondViewController. I have set them up in container views to see the effect properly.

The purpose of the test app is to change the background colour of the SecondViewController when one of the buttons is pressed in the FirstViewController.

I suspect that there are 2 instances of FirstViewController, one created by your storyboard and another one created in SecondViewController's viewDidLoad method.
When theFirstViewController creates SecondViewController it could set the delegate property or use an Outlet to connect them.
Note: delegate properties should not be retain, they should be assign (or weak with ARC).
You are honestly very close. Container views will call the prepareForSegue: method, so you should be initializing the second view controller's delegate in this method:

This way you know that you are getting the instance of SecondViewController that will be in use. Also, you do not need to redeclare the delegate method in your SecondViewController.h file:

Finally, in storyboard set the title of the container view segue to SecondViewController to whatever title you like and then copy paste that title to where 'TypeContainerViewSegueNameHere' is written above.

That said, you could make your main view controller the delegate of your FirstViewController, which has the two view containers as seen in your screenschot. And then call a delegate method from the main view controller to the second view controller. Although I am curious as to why you have these two view controllers as child view controllers rather than placing a view and two buttons in one view controller.

Like I said, you should think about reducing the complexity of this section of your app and consider putting all of your views in one view controller.

passing data from parent to child

In my app I'm trying to pass data from the parent view to the child view. However, when I run the app the delegate method isn't being called.

Is there anything wrong or missing?
Well, the problem probably (edit: confirmed in the comments) is that self.delegate is nil at that point. So you send a message to nil and nothing happens of course. What you have to do is make sure that you assign a Child instance to delegate property before trying to send the message. Something like this for example:
