I have a SSIS package that was running fine on SQL2008R2 using Environmental Variables pointing to a configuration file for connection strings. Using VS2010 Shell, I upgraded the package for our SQL Server 2012 database. The package is still in package deployment model. The ProtectionLevel of the package is set to DontSaveSensitive. Run64BitRuntime = False. When I try and execute the package in VS, I am getting the following errors:
[OLE DB Destination [2]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "DB_Connection" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed.**
[SSIS.Pipeline] Error: OLE DB Destination failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC020801C.**
With full logging on, I see the first failure here:
Diagnostic,[ComputerName],OFFICE\username,DB_Connection,{5AD75239-D546-4AAF-963E-E195FC2F0C1E},{9EC48106-DDBD-40E9-8FBB-942BCF025EEE},3/26/2013 10:35:21 AM,3/26/2013 10:35:21 AM,0,(null),ExternalRequest_post: 'ITransactionJoin::JoinTransaction failed'. The external request has completed.**
The part that is really throwing me is that earlier in the package, the same "DB_Connection" manager is used successfully in a number of Execute SQL Tasks. So, it seems the connection strings are being read from the configurations correctly.
I have tried deleting\recreating the Connection Manager. I have verified that DTC is configured properly on both my local and the server. I have other packages connecting to the same SQL2012 DB using the same configuration method using Data Flow Tasks without a problem.
Any help anyone can give to point me in the right direction will be much appreciated. I would prefer to not have to move to a project deployment model at this time if I do not have to.
I was able to get my package to run locally. While I had checked the TransactionOption on my tasks to make sure they were set to Supported, it turned out that one of my sequence containers was set to Required. Not sure why this worked in SQL2008R2, but not in SQL2012. I changed my container to Supported and the package runs now.

I am trying to set up replication between databases. I followed this tutorials:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/replication/tutorial-preparing-the-server-for-replication?view=sql-server-ver15
and after:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/replication/tutorial-replicating-data-between-continuously-connected-servers?view=sql-server-ver15
I went through first without any problems. Almost completed the second, but I stuck on step View the status of snapshot generation
When I try to strat snapshot agent, I get error:
Exception Message: An unspecified error had occurred in the native SQL Server connection component.
I tried to search on the internet MSSQL_REPL55012 (that's error code I get), but didn't succeed.
I tried to look in SQL Profiler, Jobs history, Replication Monitor, even ran failing job step from PowerShell, but couldn't get any more info on that.
What might be the issue? Anybody else stumbled upon that?
I am using:
SSMS version 15.0.18206.0
SQL Server engine 15.0.2000.5
I finally got it resolved. The issue was missing OLE DB driver.
I just downloaded latest driver. Then I got msoledbsqlr.rll driver in directory C:\Windows\SysWOW64\1033. Then I copied to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\150\COM directory, so it can be found by snapshot.exe, which is executable run by Snapshot Agent.
Alternatvely, one can define environmental variable to point to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\1033 direcotry, so it will be found there.
Another issue might be that 64-bit SQL tries to use 32-bit drivers (msoledbsql.dll, msoledbsqlr.rll), but it wasn't issue in my case.
I know this question was answered but for future reference ,updating SQL server 2019 to latest CU solved for me.
I am using SQL Server 2014 and I have created an SSIS package in SSMS using the Import Data Wizard.
The package imports a table from the database of a linked server and creates a copy on the main database. The SSMS wizard executed all the steps correctly and during one of the steps, I saved the settings as an SSIS package in the File System.
I then created a SQL Server Agent job to execute the package on a daily basis. The job failed to execute with the following error message:

I tried to open the package in SSDT, but it failed giving me the same error messages as mentioned above.
What might be causing this error?
You can have a look at the value of Run64BitRuntime debug parameter and try different value True or False.
Depending of your environment, some DLL of third party software can be in conflict.
Also, if your SQL Server instance is on an other server than the computer on wich you want to run the job, you may not be able to execute the package with features you have not installed on this machine.
SSDT, Connector to each remote database / file etc..
Have a look at your SSDT version, if the package is generated via SSMS, it can have a version wich is not recognize by your local machine.
Thank you for looking into this. I am fairly new to SSIS and got stuck. I have googled a lot of resources but dont see anybody else having the same issue.
I have created an SSIS package which downloads a 'abc.zip' file from a website. I am unzipping the file using 'Execute Process Task', the unzipped file is in 'abc.DBF' format. I am importing the data from the 'abc.dbf' into sql server 2008R2. The package runs fine and exactly as intended when I run it in BIDS without config file, but when I create a config file for the package it fails at the Connection at 'DBF Source' in the Data Flow Task with the errors mentioned below:
[DBF Source 1] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "DBF Connection" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed.

I have configured the 'DBF Connection' as suggested in http://www.midnightdba.com/Jen/2010/08/tip-connect-to-dbase-files-in-ssis/ and works find without config.
I have not changed anything but just created a config file and I am using it on the same machine, with the same settings. Any help is appreciated. Thanks again.
Apologize for not being able to answer this earlier and thank each and everyone of you for taking time to look into this issue. I was able to finally get the package working by using the UNC path in my package. I saw that my package was working fine when run in the test environment but was failing when I created a configuration file. So I decided not to change anything in my Config file and the only way I thought I could do this was to use a UNC path (for the connection strings) which would allow me run the package with configuration file but without modifying anything in configuration file in production.
I have a 2008 SSIS package that have a lot of steps, one of the steps is a script task that runs a stored procedure. It is not an option for now to change it from a script task, as it would require a lot of extra developing. The procedure runs fine in the production environment, but I need to be able to test it from VS.
The reason for the failure I have found is that the connection to the target database is not working, it is giving error "Login failed for user 'user'".
The SSIS package is built on a SSIS framework, and it has a "Initialize Connections" task as an Event in the "Initialize" part of the package. I do not know much about what this does. I want to just run the Data Flow (With "Execute task" option inside the Data Flow).
In the ProtectionLevel for the package I have tried both DontSaveSensitive and EncryptSensitiveWithPassword without any luck. I manually insert the password in the Connection Manager.
I read some about the need to use a connection manager/XML file, but I'm unsure of how this can be done. (Not done much SSIS before).
Please explain how this debugging in VS should be done.
I'm trying to deploy a package with WebDeploy V3.
The installation process is to sync between a source folder to a destination folder on the remote computer and run a certain powershell script after the sync is done.
The command being executed is:
'"C:\Program Files\IIS\Microsoft Web Deploy V3\msdeploy.exe" -verb:sync -source:dirPath='C:\source' -dest:dirPath='D:\destination',computerName=XXX -postSync:runcommand='powershell -inputformat none D:\destination\Install.ps1',successReturnCodes=0'
This yields the following error:

Searching the net for this error, I didn't see anybody who encountered it when using runcommand provider. If anybody encountered a similar issue and has ideas or suggestions I would be most thankful..
From what I've seen, using runCommand to execute an arbitrary command line might be a bit buggy. Try moving the commandline into a bat or cmd file and providing a (full?) path to that. The file will be uploaded and executed, as long as you don't try to pass in any arguments to it.
For future viewers of this post: I encountered this same specific error (Error: The entry type 'Unknown' was not expected at this time. The serialization stream may be corrupted) after adding runCommand provider usage to my MyProject.wpp.targets file for the Web Publishing Pipeline MSBuild process. The path was direct cmd shell input used in order to clear readonly flags with attrib -R.
In my case, my build server was configured with WebDeploy 3.0, while the server targeted by the deployment package was configured with Webdeploy 2.0. After upgrading the target server to Webdeploy 3.0 this particular problem was resolved.
However due to other errors surrounding runCommand (providing the correct path to the destination executable at package runtime) my solution still doesn't work entirely so take this all with a grain of salt.
