System error 85 has occured in SQL Server 2005 - sql

I'm executing a batch file from SQL Server using this code:

and the neywork.bat contains the below commands

Here the z: is mapped to some other path, but in the output it is showing as
network connection could not be found
system error 85 has occured

You are missing a space between the drive letter and the network path:
net use z: \\mlisfile07

The possible reason is that your logged in SQL-SERVER user doesn't have administrative permissions.

We have enabled 'XPCmdShellEnabled' on the database serve and we used command shell script in one of the SP which executes on daily job.
(Our Command shell script basically create the directory, create the file and dump the tem table data to csv file).
Issue: From past few days the daily job filing with the below error, before that it was working fine and nobody changed any configurations on server.
SQL Server blocked access to procedure 'sys.xp_cmdshell' of component 'xp_cmdshell' because this component is turned off as part of the security configuration for this server. A system administrator can enable the use of 'xp_cmdshell' by using sp_configure. For more information about enabling 'xp_cmdshell' search for 'xp_cmdshell' in SQL Server Books Online.
(We have enabled 'XPCmdShellEnabled' = true on 'Surface Area Configuration'.
I have tried again by executing below query, and tried SP.
sp_configure 'show advanced options', '1'

But no luck..

Unable to connect to remote shared path through xp_cmdshell

I am trying to copy a file from a remote path to my local machine using xp_cmdshell in SQL management studio.
The following are the steps i use:
1. Establish a connection
exec xp_cmdshell 'net use L: \\remoteServer\folder /user:domain\username ImPWD'
2. Re-connect
When i execute exec xp_cmdshell 'net use', the status of L is unavailable.
So I ran exec xp_cmdshell 'net use L:'
This doesn't help anyway. It still is unavailable!
3. Copy file
EXEC xp_cmdshell 'COPY L:\Fol1\SubFol2\File.xlsx C:\work\file.xlsx'
This is the error i get:
The system cannot find the file specified.
I have tried the following but nothing seems to work yet:
Found the user credentials that is used by xp_cmdshell and tried connecting to the shared path manually through windows UI and it seems to work. Therefore i concluded that there are no permission issues.EXEC xp_cmdshell 'whoami.exe'
Ran the queries as a normal user and an administrator. Both resulted in the same output.
Here are my questions:
Am I missing some step?
Why is the connection getting unavailable after the first connect?
How to delete connection? i.e When i run exec xp_cmdshell 'net use * /delete' it asks
Do you want to continue this operation? (Y/N) [N]:
I am not sure how to say 'Y' using management studio query.

To delete connection use:
exec xp_cmdshell 'net use * /delete /y'
(yes) will be silently passed
As for other questions: you mentioned in comment that your folders in path have spaces so you could:
rename folders
wrap with ""

Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server

I'm trying to establish a linked server from SQL Server 2008 R2 to an Access database. The Access database is not password protected. As I have seen in other posts (specifically this one), this is usually due to the current user not having access to the Temp folder inside the NetworkService folder. Since we are running this in Windows Server 2008, the directory structure is quite different than what most are eluding to. I have allowed access to every temp folder in the "root:\Documents and Settings\" directory, and to no avail.
This is the procedure I am using to add the linked server:

It creates the linked server with no problem, but I am not able to view the tables/views of the database. Likewise, my ASP.NET application cannot access it either.
I have tried both ACE and JET(64-bit)(by installing the Data Connectivity Components for Office), and they both do not work. I have also tried configuring the ACE provider with "Dynamic Parameter" and "Allow InProcess" to true.
Additionally, I tried upping the memory usage by the MSSQLSERVER services by adding "-g512;" in front of "startup parameters" string in SQL configuration manager to rule out memory issues.
If anyone could shed some light on this that would be fantastic! Thanks!
UPDATE: I logged into SQL using the sa account, and I was able to view the linked server. My current user account has full permissions in SQL server, so I am unsure of what the difference is between the accounts. Maybe I gave permissions to the wrong Temp folder, in which the sa account (being built-in) has access to. If someone could point me in the right direction here, that would be great, and I think it would also help a lot of other people.
I fixed the problem by disabling UAC within the control panel. I am unsure what changes this made, but it might help others!

How do I grant myself admin access to a local SQL Server instance?

I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 to my local machine. But, I can't create a new database because of rights (or lack of).
"CREATE DATABASE PERMISSION DENIED"
So, I tried to assign the admin privileges to my current login
"User does not have permission to perform this action."
I also tried to create a new login that would have admin privileges but with no luck. How do I grant myself admin rights so that I can create a database? I can re-install, but I prefer not to.
Open a command prompt window. If you have a default instance of SQL Server already running, run the following command on the command prompt to stop the SQL Server service:
net stop mssqlserver
Now go to the directory where SQL server is installed. The directory can for instance be one of these:

Yes - it appears you forgot to add yourself to the sysadmin role when installing SQL Server. If you are a local administrator on your machine, this blog post can help you use SQLCMD to get your account into the SQL Server sysadmin group without having to reinstall. It's a bit of a security hole in SQL Server, if you ask me, but it'll help you out in this case.
I adopted a SQL 2012 database where I was not a sysadmin but was an administrator on the machine. I used SSMS with "Run as Administrator", added my NT account as a SQL login and set the server role to sysadmin. No problem.

In short it involves starting up the instance of sqlserver with -m like all the other answers suggest. However Microsoft provides slightly more detailed instructions.
From the Start page, start SQL Server Management Studio. On the View menu, select Registered Servers. (If your server is not already
registered, right-click Local Server Groups, point to Tasks, and then
click Register Local Servers.)
In the Registered Servers area, right-click your server, and then
click SQL Server Configuration Manager. This should ask for permission
to run as administrator, and then open the Configuration Manager
program.
Close Management Studio.
In SQL Server Configuration Manager, in the left pane, select SQL
Server Services. In the right-pane, find your instance of SQL Server.
(The default instance of SQL Server includes (MSSQLSERVER) after the
computer name. Named instances appear in upper case with the same name

The following steps now change SQL Server back to multi-user mode.
Close SSMS.

-m and then click Remove.
Note

Its actually enough to add -m to startup parameters on Sql Server Configuration Manager, restart service, go to ssms an add checkbox sysadmin on your account, then remove -m restart again and use as usual.

-m Starts an instance of SQL Server in single-user mode.
The other answers are lacking in visual screenshots, this is a concisely summarised version of Microsoft's docs,
Open Start Menu, right-click SQL Server Configuration Manager icon and choose Run as administrator.
Right-click the instance of SQL Server, and then select Properties.
Here we will setup SQL server to start in single-user mode.

a) Runs SQL server in single-user mode

b) Runs SQL server in single-user mode + Allow unlimited connections through SSMS.

I highly recommend (b). Without this, you can't even open Object Explorer and open a new query! Because that counts as 2 connections, and isn't allowed as we're running in single-user mode.
By appending the application name after the -m option, we allow unlimited connections through that application.

I removed on purpose my sysadmin permissions from MS SQL Server 2019 as I was testing a bug. I was able to regain them without reinstall using single-user mode and then logging as admin in SSMS. I am admin of this machine, otherwise it would not be possible.
Go to SQL Server 2019 Configuration Manager and stop the service for your SQL instance (node SQL Server Services-> SQL Server (yourinstancename))
From the properties (node SQL Server Services-> SQL Server (yourinstancename)-> Properties -> StartUp Parameters) enter -m, click Add and Apply buttons (You should have a row with these two symbols on it only -m in Existing parameters when you have finished)
Confirm with OK.
Start the stopped previously service.
Start SSMS as admin.
Add sysadmin permissions to my user (Security -> Logins -> New login -> Server roles).
Remove the additional -m startup parameter you added previously.
Restart the SQL Server service.

Simply replace the "USERNAME" with your own username. You don't have to enter the domain, as it will dynamically figure that out using DEFAULT_DOMAIN(). Fun fact: you can also use this to quickly add the same user, over multiple databases on different domains. Run this command using SSMS's "run query on multiple databases" feature.

how can i access a file/folder over network through XP_CMDSHELL in sql server 2008?

I am trying to access a folder/directory using 'EXEC MASTER..XP_CMDSHELL' it works for the local file/folder, how ever it can not access the folder over network.
EXEC MASTER..XP_CMDSHELL 'c:\Images' --Works fine
EXEC MASTER..XP_CMDSHELL '\\IPaddress\Images' -- returns "Access is denied."
Please note that i can access the network location but not using sql server.
Sql server is running under Winodws Authentication mode.
Sql server is using 'nt authority\network service' account to access the remote Folder.

If you run xp_cmdshell 'whoami.exe' it will tell you the account the command is running under. If this account doesn't have permissions on the network, you'll get the error you are seeing.
Check the SQL documentation for changing this account/permissions.
When you have to put file, like BCP result, or a backup in a remote drive, just map this drive into windows don't work, it must be mapped on SQL Server to!, to do this, try some link like this:
