I was looking at the SoundCloud player widget API and trying to resolve an issue I am having with a smaller scale player. Currently the track artist, name and all of the SoundCloud track stats load. I get an ugly overlap due to the size of the player. Is there a way to disable those sound cloud stats using the API?

The name is a bit confusing, but if you add &show_playcount=false to the embed code, they'll be hidden. Example:
https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F2860118&show_playcount=false

I'm looking for a web video player (html, js, php..) that looks like a Picture-in-Picture but working as a standard player.
I would like something which:
can play as PiP but without becoming dark on mouse-over ("back to the tab)
can have layer controls (play/stop..)
can be resized more than 50% of screen (unlike PiP) (*)
I need it to be added in a gis-web-server I made, able to be played over a map, to let user observe both map and video at the same time.
(*) Note: I take advantage to ask here if someone can help me (in absence of a solution) to be able to increase more than 50% the size of PiP in a standard html video player (HTML '<'video'>').
is there a way you can get video thumbnail from another people video or post?
I tried searching in google and stackoverflow and all i found is getting your own video thumbnail which is working fine by using https://graph.facebook.com/v11.0/443055553744880/thumbnails?access_token=my_access_token but it is not working if i change the video_id to other people video_id (443055553744880 is the video_id). I want to get any public video thumbnail regardless of who post it, not just my own video. Is there anyway to do that?
Thanks in advance
No, that is not really possible.
For access to videos on pages you do not have admin access to, you would need the Page Public Content Access feature - only the purpose of that is to “Provide competitive benchmark analysis”, so it is probably unlikely you would get it approved for other purposes such as to show videos on your site.
And for access to any content on user profiles, you would need the individual user’s permission first.
If you just want to show the videos somewhere, then you can use the Embedded Video & Live Video Player for that, or the oEmbed endpoints.
I want to display ads with VAST ad tag and with a HTML5 player. I'm currently trying to use videoJS with Vast Ads Plugin and I'm noticing I can't get the videoJS player to work without having a video content (video element with a src attribute for the video content).
Does anyone know a simple way to use a video player for just ads from VAST, and without video content? Google IMA3 SDK allows that, but I'm now looking for video plugins to cover IE use case (which Google IMA3 SDK does not cover).
Thank you!
There is a dirty way to do this. You can get the ad video url from the plugin that already parsed by it. Then just paste as src to video tag.
If the player you are using support only running pre-roll, that's obviously the best choice. Since that's likely not the case, I would recommend creating a small 1 second long black video MP4 and setting it as the content, with all video controls disabled. This was the lowest friction solution for me, as I didn't need to ask the player anything special of the player. The pre-roll plays, and the user briefly sees black at the end, which may not really be noticed.
On the mac you can use their native 'f-keys' to do things like change volume, brightness, and even pause or play music or video.
I was wondering if there was someway to access to 'now playing' media (music or video) through an API or something?
I know it's possible to get currently playing tracks from iTunes using things like ITLibMediaItem or even from other apps by using Applescript to ask the application what it's header is. But how would you figure out which application is the 'currently playing' one and then get the play pause functionality?
Does Apple have an API for this?
I'm looking for a way to star a song in Spotify without having to go to the app itself.
For instance:
I'm playing a game on fullscreen, or I'm working on something and Spotify is on for music. I hear a great song and I want to star it.
Now instead of going to the app, I want to star the song using a shortcut or a dedicated external button.
Whether it is a shortcut, a USB button, or a button on a remote, I believe this function would be really helpful. I've searched through the Spotify core API, but I couldn't find anything that enables me to "star" a song.
Any ideas?
Since you tagged CocoaLibSpotify in this question, well, CocoaLibSpotify has this functionality built right in - the SPTrack object has the starred property. It'd be fairly simple to write a little app that, when triggered, fetches the currently playing track using the Spotify client's AppleScript bridge and use CocoaLibSpotify to star it.
Alternatively, the Apps API can star a track as well (the Track object has the starred property). You could use the player object to get the current track and star it. However, linking that to an external button will be tricky. One (hacky) way would be to have the button trigger a system URL launch of spotify:app:star-this-track:invocation:1 where the number at the end increments each time you push the button. Then, the application's ARGUMENTSCHANGED event will fire, at which point you can star the track.
