My requirement : Post message automatically to user's activity log without showing any dialogue.
I am using FB.api for this. You can view the code that I used in https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/javascript/FB.api/
Now, currently UserA is logged in to Facebook through my application. when I call FB.api now then 'me' gets replaced to Facebook user_id of UserA(currently logged in user).
My issue :
Can I post message to UserB's profile when UserA is logged in to Facebook through my application. If yes, tell me how?
For this issue, In the above code I have tried by replacing UserB's Facebook user_id in place of 'me', but it doesn't work. However When I use FB.ui method for this issue, it works. Suggest me reasons.
Thanks.
Can I post message to UserB's profile when UserA is logged in to Facebook through my application. If yes, tell me how?
You can, by just using UserB’s user id or user name instead of me.
But: This feature will be removed soon (beginning of February 2013, see https://developers.facebook.com/roadmap/), so it’s not worth developing something like that any more.
The only way to post to another user’s wall from then on will be to use the Feed dialog, and have the user (UserA) trigger the post himself actively.

I have an app in sandbox mode and I have a sandbox user that is pending. (It has also been at least a day since the user was added). The user can successfully use my app and has given authorization; however, the user's likes returns an empty response (I know they can only access liked media from other authorized sandbox users, but the user has liked media from my account that is set as the admin). The Instagram API documentation states that the user may go to their developer site and accept/decline sandbox invites from the Sandbox Invites tab except my user is shown the developer register page instead. Does anyone know what is going on/how to fix this?
Instagram made sweeping changes to it's API and the way it is accessed recently. As a result of the lockdown the Sandbox Invite process is glitchy at best. I myself just ran into this issue of invites not showing up.
It seems, for the moment, the only way to access the invite is to fill out the developer form(I just used a http://localhost:8000 URL and a random phone number that is not likely to exist, although try without one as it might not be necessary). That should automatically forward you to the invite page where the invited user can then accept or decline a Sandbox Invite.
It's a bit of a mess and the lack of documentation / indication to indicate that this step is mandatory doesn't help matters. Hope this helps save some time and headaches!
I'm trying to resolve an issue regarding Google+ and authorizing users for an app using Google OAuth-2. More specifically, I find the authorization is successful when the user presses Accept on the consent screen; using the oauth playground and the auth/games scope, that looks like: http://retrofist.com/temp/Auth_01.png
However, if I then check my app privileges at plus.google.com/apps, I see the playground listed as visible to 'Only You': http://retrofist.com/temp/Auth_02.png - even though 'Anyone on the web' was selected on the consent screen. As I'm using Google Play Games for leaderboards, the result is that no one can see any leaderboard entries until they have manually corrected this to 'Public' visibility.
Can anyone explain a reason or workaround for this? Many thanks.
I observed similar issues, my scores was not published publicly to the leaderboard of the game. I then realized that, this is only for users whose email is defined as tester email. I could see the scores as publicly posted after deleting those emails from tester list.
It has been almost a month and I couldn't figure this out.
I am developing a social network application and I want the users to be able to log in via their Twitter and Facebook account Like the screenshot below:
The Facebook is done, and I am stock with the twitter, Note that these pictures are actually set as a buttons.
What I want exactly is:
The user can be able to login (sign up) on the application using their Twitter and I will retrieve the basic information from Twitter API "Name,Username,Profile picture" in my application and store them in my database.
Note: I am using Parse and I already have a table call user.
Please help me :'(
It sounds like you haven't tried anything with Twitter yet.
If this were my code, I'd probably use the Twitter API to login, which they introduce you to here.
Or you can use one of the handy Objective-C libraries they've listed here
I am planning to use facebook authentication for my application. I thought of using facebook account creation date to identify fake accounts. After extensive searching I retired without a solution.
So decided to read user posts to check if the user account existed for sometime, but using read_stream I could only get a user's feed, I would like to know by someway can I get only the user's post.
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/api/user/ see statuses connection.
Calling the Facebook API is a (relatively) slow operation; especially if you have to call it multiple times. So, when possible, it is a good idea to get the information you need, without making API calls.
You can take a look at http://metadatascience.com/2013/03/11/inferring-facebook-account-creation-date-from-facebook-user-id/. It explains how to figure out the creation date of a Facebook account without having to call the Facebook API, just based on the user’s Facebook UID.
Is it possible to post onto Twitter using the sharing URL, for example:
http://twitter.com/home?status=My Status Update
But, instead of creating a link for a user to click, I want to have an input box that will post the content of the input box as the status. So, whatever the user types into the input box would replace My Status Update.
I'm thinking there should be a way to use the form to post onto this URL hxxp://twitter.com/home?status=XXXX where XXXX is the input value. Is this possible?
UPDATE: I realize I described this wrong - it doesn't have to ACTUALLY POST the status, it can take them to Twitter, ask them to logged in (if not, skip), and then put the status update inside the Tweet Box and require the user to press Tweet to send it
Thanks!
No, Twitter require the status to be sent from it's interface.
You can provide the user an option to send status from your site only with twitter application and only after the user authorized your application to sends twits in his account.
Sadly, the solution to this may be more complicated then you think.
Twitter recently switched to full OAuth authentication to interact with their api and to post status updates etc.
In short, to do what you suggest above will require your visitors to log in.
To simplify this, on my websites I use the Official Twitter Tweet Button because I feel that my visitors will trust it the most and will enter in their username/pass without worry.
The Official Twitter Tweet Button page has a builder where you can select various options to change the look and content of the tweet itself.
Be sure to checkout the full documentation for the advanced usage examples and the full reference of properties that can be used with the javascript tweet button
p.s.
On my site I registered for an app so I could include the following js file:
<script src="http://platform.twitter.com/anywhere.js?id=MY-APP-ID&v=1"></script>
And my links look something like this:
