upgrading a weblogic config.xml version 8.1.6.0 to10.3.5 - weblogic

I have been given a weblogic assignment for my internship, but i have never worked with weblogic before. I have been told that the config.xml needs to be updated. are there any samples or suggestions as to how to go about updating an 8.1 config to a 10.3?
i have been reading through a few oracle pages, but i am still confused. can a config.xml be upgraded using workshop?
thank you for your time.

Upgrading from Glassfish 2.1.1 to Glassfish 4.1

Can someone please enlighten me. I'm trying to upgrade my Glassfish 2.1.1 to Glassfish 4.1. I've decided to do a side by side install as indicated here: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26576_01/doc.312/e24942/upgrading-legacy-installation.htm#GSUPG00039
Question are:
(1) What is "as-install"? There's no such directory as-install\bin in my extracted glassfish4 so I assumed it is the installation directory? Is it glassfish4\bin or glassfish4\glassfish\bin?
(2) I can't see the asupgrade.bat file in my glassfish 4.1 so I'm not able to proceed with the steps on the above link. I'm not sure if the version is related since the document specifically says "upgrade to GlassFish Server 3.1". I can see a pkg directory, and there's also an updatetool.bat. I can't run the upgrade tool though since I'm in a closed environment (no internet).
(3) Is it okay to just delete the Sun folder (for Sun Glassfish Enterprise Server v2.1.1) and replace it with the glassfish4 folder (for Glassfish4.1)? Then I will just run my updated installer that supports the new server. Fresh install works, however we also want to try upgrade.
(4) Assuming #3 is not possible, are there any other way?
Sorry to ask this here since I'm not familiar to any Oracle/Sun community. Google search' top results doesn't specifically answer these questions.
UPDATE: Apparently, I found a similar unanswered thread here: Where is the Glassfish 4 upgrade tool . Same issue, upgradetool is no where to be found. Also, tried to connecting to internet and I still can't update it via updatetool.bat.
UPDATE2: Apparently, updatetool.bat doesn't work for Glassfish4.1. I tried running it/installing it so that the upgradetool might be visible but it seems it can't download the application packages.

Jruby 1.7.x compatibility with Warbler gemjar

I have an application using JRuby 1.6.7, Ruby 1.9.2, Rails 3.1.3 and Warbler 1.4.0.beta2
For a while now, I have been trying to update the application to use JRuby 1.7.x. Every time I tried (with versions 1.7.3, 1.7.4, and most recently 1.7.6) I would get the following error:
org.jruby.rack.RackInitializationException: No such file or directory - /home/production/var/tmp/Jetty_0_0_.war/webapp/WEB-INF/lib/gems.jar!/gems/activesupport-3.1.3/lib/active_support/locale/en.yml
After some help from this question here: Warble not including active support locale files, pin pointed that that issue was with the warbler configuration in my application. We had enabled the following configuration:
config.features = %w(gemjar executable compiled)
Specifically, the gemjar feature was the one causing the issue. With that feature disabled, everything works fine (the WAR deploys perfectly)
I am wondering, if anyone else has run into this, or if anyone knows what the issue might be?
And then more specifically, what are the disadvantages to disabling the gemjar feature of Warbler? From what I can tell, there shouldn't theoretically be anything devastating by disabling it... but I may be overlooking something.
(I do also wonder if the full warbler 1.4.0 release might fix this... but I can't find anything about when a release might be coming out)
there are none - actually running a .war with gemjar might have issues on some servers (esp. if they do not expand the deployed .war, since then it's quite hard to reference files/resources packaged in a .war while still inside a .jar). on the other hand it should roll fine if things are expanded (even with gemjar) ...
you should definitely report this with Warbler's repository (if not reported already).
it should not be hard to fix - likely a one liner, I know a PR would be most welcome :)
NOTE: on the other hand if it worked in a previous JRuby and updating 1.7.x is the issue, than it might be a "regression" on JRuby's side and they might actually fix this if they knew about it ...

Weblogic could not find class in WEB-INF->classes directory

I have a very weird problem. That my web project deployed to the Weblogic 10.0,Monday afternoon, and every thing works fine. But the next day morning, i checked the application, it reported could not find class that i write myself below the WEB-INF->classes directory.
I also use ant to build my project,But the same war file works on Weblogic10.3 and Tomcat5.5.So it may be the Weblogic 10.0's issue. But i also test it in another environment which have Weblogic 10.0, and it could not work too.
So could anyone can help with it ? I work a whole day yesterday to figure this out.
Even change the JDK to recompile the code and war file.
Please Help or leave something that helps, Thanks!
i finally figure the issue out. That cause the jdk version matters.
The annotation "#override" in jdk1.5 was not supported as in jdk1.6.
And the Weblogic10.0 still use the jdk1.5, so it matters.

Xwiki - Error with Apostrophe in Space Title or Page Title

I have installed a fresh install of XWiki on a Windows platform.
The XWiki instance was installed using hsql for data storage.
The XWiki instance is hosted on Apache Tomcat.
Some of my users entered an apostrophe into the title of a page as well as the page content.
I received the following error:
http://jira.xwiki.org/jira/browse/XE-767
What is my next step to fix my broken XWiki instance?
Is there a way to upgrade a XWiki instance to a version that works? How do I save my existing content?
From reviewing the developers comments, it appears that issue has been corrected.
I, however, do not have enough background in Java or XWiki to know how I can move forward.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Indeed, the best solution is to upgrade to a newer version. Don't worry, upgrades are not that difficult.
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/AdminGuide/Installation#HUpgradinganXWikiInstallation
There are two parts in an upgrade: the platform, meaning all the files on the filesystem, and the wiki content, since quite often things change in the default wiki documents. Your specific bug can be fixed by upgrading the platform part, so if you're not too confident about upgrading the wiki content, you can just leave the old content in place.
In order not to lose your current database, be sure to leave the old "database" folder in place, and just replace the "webapps\xwiki" part.
From the error report the versions that fix the issue are
2.7 - http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise27
2.6.1 - http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise261
You can upgrade to one of them or to any following version, like XE
3.0 - http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWikiEnterprise30
All versions can be downloaded from http://forge.ow2.org/project/showfiles.php?group_id=170
In a project that has such a rapid development cycle is very good to upgrade often in order to benefit from the latest features and bug fixes.

Any luck with mod_libpq under Apache 2.2 and/or win32?

Has anyone had luck compiling mod_libpq for Apache 2? I know there were some fairly major changes so the source might have to be updated, but has it been done already by someone?
Also, has it been compiled for win32 (either version of Apache, or another web server altogether?)
I've written an updated version for Apache2.2 which can be downloaded from
http://asmith.id.au/source/mod_libpq2.c
However, it is my first attempt at writing a module for Apache2 and it is not debugged yet.
Previously I had no use for it as I was still using Apache1.3 but since I am now faced with retiring that old server I guess I'll have to finish off the new version.
