Windows 8 metro apps offline download - windows-8

Is their any sites available to download windows 8 metro apps for offline installation. Alternative to windows store.Because i don't have internet connection in home.
Please tell me any sites ?

You have to be connected to install Windows 8 Store apps. You cannot sideload an app that has been downloaded from the Windows Store.
Alternatively, you can get your app directly from the developer without involving the Store, in which case, installation can be offline. Apps that aren't signed by Windows Store can only be installed on sideloading-enabled devices.

Actually you can install Windows apps offline, I did it by capturing the URL windows store referring to, it was a file with .appx or .appxbundle extension. However, the URL contained some security information referring to the Windows Store session and user id. It means you cannot multi-part-download it or resume it if disconnected, very disappointing in case of games with 2 Gb or more data. After that, I installed these packages with PowerShell command
Add-AppxPackage [Disk:\File Location\File name.appx]
without brackets. It installed and worked correctly.
Waiting for a dedicated side-software (Like Cydia or smith.) that does it in one-click.

It is only a few days for Windows app store to be live and unfortunately in your case, NO option to it for now.

How to install Windows Phone app for beta testing without purchasing a certificate

I have a Windows Phone individual developer account and need to do a beta testing internally. I used Appaloosa and HockeyApp for this purpose. But, when I try to download the app and install it on my Windows Phone, it shows a message "Can't install company app" on both Appaloosa and HockeyApp.
I heard that one needs to have a Symantec certificate and an .aetx file in order to install Windows Phone app which costs $299.00.
I need to know if there is any other option so that I can install my developed app freely on some Windows Phone devices which are intended for testing. I might need to email my .xap file to the testers and let them download and install for testing purpose.
You can install your developed app on some Windows Phone devices from Windows Store. If you have development account, you can publish your app with limited access. You will get link on your app. Your app will access only for people, who have this link. Another people will not find your app in Windows Store.

Can I download and install apps that previously published for wp8.1 with a Windows 10 phone?

I have read many articles about the "forward compatibility" of WP apps stating an app targeting 8.0 can run on an 8.1 phone. But I have not verified this on WP Store.
I have published a universal app for WP 8.1 and some users have installed this app. Now I am investigating the various upgrading scenarios happen when Windows 10 Mobile comes out later this year.
Scenario 1: Can a user download and install the 8.1 app with a newly purchased Windows 10 phone? Will it show up in the new, unified Windows Store?
Scenario 2: Can a user who has already installed this app continue to receive updates to this app after he upgrade his phone to Windows 10 Mobile? I have no plan for a Win 10 release at this stage and I will update the 8.1 release in the months to come.
It will be helpful if you can provide me some links about the policies of the new, unified Windows Store.
Yes to both. Existing apps will show up and can be installed from the store. As with the existing stores, users will get the most relevant app for their device. Your existing Windows Phone 8.1 apps will run on and be available for Windows 10 mobile devices. You can update it and expect your users to receive the updates.
This is discussed in the store sessions from Build:

Windows application server communication issue

I recently developed a windows phone application using phonegap(HTML5, CSS) in visual studio and generated the deployable XAP file. When I registered my device with my developer account I was able to install my application locally and was able to do server communication as well. But when I submit the same XAP file to store and then download from store, the server communication is failing. As this issue is observed only at store I am not able to debug the issue.
My question is how can the same application show different behaviours when deployed locally & downloaded from store.
Note: I am doing ajax requests for server communication.
Please let me know if some permissions need to be given while submitting to store or any work around needed from me to fix this issue. Requesting a response soon.

ClickOnce application to launch a Windows 8 application

Is it possible to develop a Windows 8 application which can be used as a ClickOnce application - that is, a user will just hit a URL, then the Windows 8 application will get downloaded, installed and then will start running. I don't want the application to be a Windows Store application. The application will have some simple functionality for internal company usage.
It depends on the version of Windows 8 you are talking about. You can't run a ClickOnce app on Windows 8 RT. You can run it on Windows 8. You need to be aware of the issue with the Smart Screen Filter. You have to sign the executable now, which you can do with a pre-publish or post-build directive. If you do not have a signing certificate from a CA, you will have to educate your users to click "more info" when the installation is interrupted by the Smart Screen Filter. For VSTO applications, you must have a valid certificate; it won't work at all on Windows 8 if it is not signed, or is signed with a self-created certificate.
This is explained initially in this article and clarified more in this article.

Windows-8 browse url,local storage

I have searched around a lot but have not found much of anything in regards to local storage for Windows 8, Windows RT, and Windows Phone apps.
I want to display the browser on a page surf and search webpages. When I find the specified webpage, I want to store the url on a local storage of the device.
On another page, I want to display the URLs in a list for fast select and direct surf to the url. I am developing with visual studio 2012 and vb.net.
Local storage options for Windows Store apps is pretty well covered in the dev center topic Accessing app data with the Windows Runtime
In Windows 8 (Windows Store apps), you could use app settings (registry based), local application data (file-based and sandboxed) as well as the roaming versions thereof.
Since you mentioned Windows Phone 8, I'll add that while the same Windows Storage APIs are surfaced for Windows Phone, only local application data will work directly. In Windows Phone 8, local application data is another way of handling isolated storage; however, there is no built-in roaming data option. Additionally, app settings as implemented in Windows 8 is not available in Windows Phone, but you can use isolated storage settings which is semantically equivalent.
I have gone through the web browser terms and conditions, and there it is clearly mentioned that you cannot use the web browser for general browsing, and if you are doing the same, your app would be rejected by the microsoft app store
