I found out how to access some icons:
ISharedImages images = JavaUI.getSharedImages();
Image image = images.getImage(ISharedImages.IMG_WHATEVER);
However, in ISharedImages are constants modifier icons like IMG_FIELD_PUBLIC and IMG_OBJS_PRIVATE etc., but I cannot find any for e.g. the static modifier.
I believe all of the icons in this list should somehow be accessible, but how?

Unfortunatelly the only way I know if you use internal call. Add org.eclipse.jdt.ui as a dependency to your project. Then you will be able to use the JDT internal mechanism:
JavaPluginImages.get(JavaPluginImages.IMG_OBJS_CLASS); // returns an Image
I think with that you can use whichever icon you want.

I would like to style notifications in Vaadin Flow (19+), in Java, exactly as shown here in typescript, by assigning a theme and not setting the color of the elements (as shown in the java example). Apart the fact that setting the color is troublesome (foreground, background...) and fragile (e.g. switching to dark mode), the Java example shows setting a CSS color, I would expect to be allowed to use Lumo color variables (e.g. --lumo-success-color). Is this possible? Can anybody show an example?
You can use the addThemeVariants() method to define the variant you want to use:
Notification notification = new Notification();
notification.addThemeVariants(NotificationVariant.LUMO_PRIMARY);
The Java examples have not been moved over to the new docs site yet, you can find them here https://vaadin.com/components/vaadin-notification/java-examples/theme-variants
Vuetify allows us to change the default themes and presets by using a variables.scss/sass file in our project.
But I am unable to figure out how to change the font-style/font-weight (or any other global properties except the color) for the entire app, dynamically on the fly.
For Example:
We have a vue application running and the global font is currently set to Roboto,
What I want to do is provide a list of available fonts in a v-select and dynamically feed the selected value(suppose Raleway) in the variables.scss file or somehow trigger Vuetify to pick up the updated font-family (even other customizations), and change the default font to Raleway for the entire application.
I don't want to add classes everywhere. It won't be maintainable.
Any ideas on how can this be achieved?
Thanks in advance!
Changing the font app-wide is possible through the variables file as you mention, but this is a build-time decision. If you're wanting the user to swap out the font in the running app, there isn't any mechanism for this as far as I know, because the app is already compiled and running.
I was wondering if there is a way to include controlsfx into the Scene Builder inside JetBrains Intellij. I tried to google it but I did not find anything relevant or updated.
just add the controlsfx jar file to the project libraries. then you can use the controls in it in the built-in scene builder
If you create user control in your project intellij will allow you to use it directly in the built-in scene builder just as you use external controls.
So we're trying to change the default cluster icon using gmaps for rails.
In the wiki
it says
You can customize the pics used by the clusterer by setting the Gmaps.map.customClusterer js function in your code.
Where would we put that function? It says "In the javascript" - but where? Do we straight-up edit the code generated by gmaps4rails? How does gmaps4rails pick up the information?
To do this customization you just need to create js file. Then you can
"require" that js file in your Application.js or otherwise just directly refer in your view file. That's it you need not to do anything else. I have used it and it worked for me. If any questions do let me know.
To understand how it works you can just refer the
gmaps4rails.base.js (see #customClusterer = -> false)
gmaps4rails.googlemaps.js (method - createClusterer)
it is straight forward to understand
I am working on an Eclipse RCP-based application, and we have decided that we do not want any of the menu items to display icons next to the text. The problem we are seeing is that the standard actions like Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste, and so on all display the default icons for the corresponding actions.
Is there any way to tell the action management infrastructure to ignore the icons? My brute force solution to this was to rebuild the SWT so that MenuItem.setImage() was a no-op, and then include our own copy of the SWT in the final product, but it seems like there should be a lighter-weight solution.
This turned out to be easier than I had hoped.
Create a subclass of org.eclipse.ui.application.ActionBarAdvisor. Override the method register like this:
protected void register(IAction action) {
super.register(action);
action.setImageDescriptor(null);
}
Then, create a subclass of org.eclipse.ui.application.WorkbenchWindowAdvisor that overrides createActionBarAdvisor:
public ActionBarAdvisor createActionBarAdvisor(IActionBarConfigurer configurer) {
return new MyActionBarAdvisor(configurer);
}
That's it. All actions will no longer have icons.
I believe you want to further examine going into the manifest and looking into
org.eclipse.ui.views and seeing if there is anything in there for removing icons
What is the reason for not including icons?
A lot of effort went into creating a standard interface, what would be the benefit of deviating from the standard? Do you think their omission increases usability?
Having said all that you could try contributing a fragment with some AspectJ around advice to intercept calls to setImage() and veto them.
You can do this by going to the extension tab in plugin.xml.add the extension org.eclipse.ui.menu (if not present).Right click create a new menu contribution.again right click and create a new menu.here u have the option to change the images with the ones saved in your icon folder in your class path
