I am working on app. It has normal 3 views. On third view, I have a table view. If I select any row, I want a view which contains UITabController. I have created a simple UITabController app, but unable to do this. How to do this ?

IMHO, your question is perhaps ill conceived.
A tab bar controller controls view controllers which in turn control views. Your suggestion that a view contains a controller of controller simply does not make sense.
Maybe what you really want on selecting a row in your table view is to present a new view controller and then make the (existing) tab bar visible.
You usually want a UITabBar to be THE navigation for your application and not show it later on one view.
But if you want to do so you should show, as Mundi said, a new UITabBarViewController when you select your UITableViewCell.
I don't know your exact usecase, but if you work with a UITableView I would use a UINavigationController to push a new View when you tap one UITableViewCell. Then it may be better (If you have 2-3 Elements) to use a UISegmentedControl in the UINavigationBar. This would look like this.

I have one UIViewController with two UIViews on it. In the Navigation bar, when one button is pushed one of the UIViews is displayed and when the other button is pushed the other UIView is displayed. I want to put a UITableView on one of the views. However, the UITableView requires the UIViewController to use the UITableViewDelegate and UITableViewDataSource. Having implemented this for my UIView (subview) containing the UTTableView, when I click on the button for the other view, which does not contain a table, I get errors and the application croaks.
I am assuming (possibly incorrectly) that my issue is that I am trying to use the same UIViewController for both subviews, but only one contains a table.
Question 1) Is it possible to do what I described above? Meaning, if I had a problem then something was not connected up correctly.
So, I went down a path of creating two separate UIViewControllers; one for each view. Not sure this is the smart approach. Now I am just looking for advice on the best way to do this. Thank you in advance for your help.
To be more clear about what I am trying to do. I want the blue view to be put where the pink view is when the first button on the bar is clicked and I want the yellow view to be put where the pink view is when the second button is clicked. Essentially the pink view will never be displayed and may not even need to be on the UtilityViewController.

I have a concept question, that i am having real issues with.
I have a Master/Detail application that i would like to add a Tab Bar to, but only to filter core data, basically just changing the predicate for the Fetch Request.
Now, i could add a Tab Bar, add my Navigation Controller to it, modify some code and make it work. But i would then need to create multiple screens/fetch controllers e.t.c for each view i wish to display. Whereas what i would like to do is just re-filter the results on a change in the Tab Bar.
Please excuse me if this is a stupid question, i am coming from an OSX background, and on that it is very straightforward!

UITabBar is a type of view, so you can add it as a subview of one of your existing views and set yourself as the delegate. Then you can update your fetch request in the tabBar:didSelectItem: method. You don't need to use UITabBarController.
It seems easiest to just create multiple instances of your view, each with an appropriate filter property set and then add all of those instances to your Tabbar controller array.
Sometimes IB simply doesn't allow you to add a view as a subview to a UIViewController as illustrated here
If I drag a UIViewController from the object library and try to embed it within Mailbox View Controller.. it doesn't highlight, however it would work fine if I try to add it to the generic View Controller at the bottom (can the fact that Mailbox View Controller have a Customer Class MailboxViewController have anything to do with it?)
I'm pretty sure I can do this programmatically (which is what I'll try next) but I was wondering if there was a reason for this (and if there was a way around it).

this is what i'm trying to accomplish: I was following the steps here to implement a segmented view controller below search bar like in the iphone mail app.. however I kept on getting an error saying that a view can only belong to one view controller at a time.. So what I'm trying to do is basically create a separate viewcontroller, reference it from MailboxViewController as an outlet, make the containing view of my search area the view of this new view controller (this is where i'm getting stuck) and finally make the searchContentsController property of UISearchDisplayController refer to the view of this new view controller. (if this sounds confusing, which I know it does, please refer to this answer)
From your screenshot, the view property of your mailbox view controller is a table view.
A table view in interface builder won't support the dropping of arbitrary views onto it as subviews - where would it put them at runtime? In IB the table has no content, it just has that visual representation of cells to let you know what it is.
You haven't said what you are trying to set up so I can't offer any additional help. Adding a subview programmatically to a table view probably won't give you the effect you're after either - a table view is a UIScrollView subclass, so your new view will either move off screen or get covered up by the table view adding cells.
I want to use the same TableView for 3 of my tabs instead of using 3 identical TableViews. I created three navigation controllers (one for each of the tabs) and linked them to the same Table View Controller But if I run the app with the storyboard like the picture below, it works for the first one of the sharing tabs, but for the other two I get a black screen where the tableView should be. So I want to know if it is even possible to make it work with this setup?
I'm trying this, so I don't have to make a litte change in the tableview 3 times.. The 3 tabs are populated with the same data too, just filtered differently, so just filter the array depending on which parent navigation controller would be simple I suppose.. But I need to know if this is a possible way of sharing view or not.
I would suggest a different approach. Just have three different table views. But since the question is not about being the right approach, I would say that the best way to do it is to do it by code, removing the tableview from the super view (The view controller's view) and moving it to a new view controller when the delegate from the tabbarcontroller is called. Keep in mind that you will also have to assign the delegate and datasource for each view controller.
i'm looking three20 and I wish make this thing: use a TTWebController but implement the feature that is shown on the 'Table with drag refresh', drag to the bottom and the webpage will be loaded, showing on the top the arrow like twitter, like many apps... it's possible to do this?

Pull to refresh is implemented as a Table View Delegate and the TTWebController is a simple controller with a uiwebview in it.
One way around it would be to create a new TableViewController with the TTTableViewDragRefreshDelegate as the table delegate. You would then create another cell with the web view.
A problem with that solution is that the web view has it's own scroll view and that will take precedence over the tableview scrollview. so you would actually need to make sure you drag the table and not the webview.
All in all I suggest you not do it :) and use a button for the refresh.
