phpDesigner 8 font rendering bug - ide

phpDesigner 8 seems to have an error rendering text. I'm comparing it to Sublime Text 2.
Using these values:
in both programs, I get these different results:
Seems like phpDesigner 8 is expanding the font, but I can't find any configuration which allows me to stop that behavior.
How can I remove the horizontal font extra space?

Not sure if you had this problem resolved. You can change this in Tools > Preferences > Editor > Syntax Highlighters, choose PHP from the drop down list and for each attribute, uncheck the Bold checkbox.

How to set tab indentation with GNAT GPS

I installed GNAT GPS 2017 and I would like it to indent my code with tabs using the same width as 4 space characters. I've gone into Edit->Preferences->Editor->Ada and tried all sorts of options (Use tabulations, default indentation 4, etc) but nothing seems to make it work:
Opening existing file with tabs causes GPS to display tabs with 8 spaces wide instead of 4.
Adding new code causes GPS to indent with 4 spaces but it inserts space characters instead of a single tab character.
Any ideas?
I think that GPS is working as-designed; unfortunately, that isn’t the way you want it to work.
The Preferences > Editor > Ada > Default indentation setting (and the four settings following it) say what screen appearance is required (assuming a monospace font, of course) if you hit the TAB key in a line.
The Preferences > Editor > Ada > Use tabulations setting says whether the editor should use 8-column-width tabs when possible to achieve the above.
#Jean-François Fabre suggested that "Their code parser doesn't support tabulations properly" - I think this may be that Jean-François compiles with -gnaty (style checks), and one of the default style checks is that the file isn’t indented with tabs.

IntelliJ IDEA: how to fix broken font display?

Unable to read the language. How to set it to english ?
The issue is not with the language, but with some broken font mapping on your system. The workaround is to change IDE font. Press Ctrl+Alt+S to access the Settings dialog, open the second entry from the top and set some font here:
Had same issue with IntelliJ Community Edition, version 2019 2.
Initially the only way I could get the "normal" IntelliJ charset mapping to persist after closing and reopening is go to Settings > Appearance & Behaviours > Appearance and then to UNCHECK Use Custom Font and allow the built-in defaults to be applied.
Later I discovered that I could use all custom fonts except my favorite, Open Sans.
Somehow selecting and applying this font only worked for the remainder of the IntelliJ session. If IntelliJ was closed and reopened, the character mapping was altered in both the Settings page and in the IDE. Each character was represented by the next character alphabetically, e.g. Open Sans ==> Pqdo Tbot
Notice that the first letter of the menus (which has a separate formatting as it's underlined) remains the same while the remainder of the menu title is ampped to the next letter in the alphabet.
The question thus arises: why is Open Sans showing this change of character mapping while other fonts do not ?

How to modify the font of PhpStorm findbox

How to modify the font of PhpStorm findbox (find text field)? Fonts are windows default simsun! No change options in settings.
Update: this feature is available starting from IntelliJ IDEA 2018.3.1. To make the search/replace fields use the editor font you can add -Dide.find.use.editor.font=true in Help | Edit Custom VM Options and restart the IDE.
Original answer:
At the moment the font used in the text field is hardcoded and you can't change it, please vote for this request and follow it for updates:

IntelliJ IDEA - Choosing specific font width within family

I'm on OS X El Capitan running IntelliJ IDEA 15.0.3.
I've been trying to change the font in my IntelliJ IDEA editor, but when I go to select which font to select, the dropdown list only gives me a list of font families, and doesn't allow me to choose individual weights, as I wanted to use the Book font, while IntelliJ uses the Medium font by default. Is there any way to prioritize which weight I want to use?
I found an indirect way by disabling the Medium font file through Font Book, but that kind of bothers me because that disables it for all programs rather than simply IntelliJ.
Thanks in advance.
This should be possible now. I just checked by going to Settings > Editor > Font and different font weights show up correctly in the dropdown:
If you still have this problem, you should file an issue with JetBrains.

Chinese characters in IntelliJ IDEA 12 overlapped

I use IntelliJ IDEA to develop my Android project. I've encountered this issue when editing the string XML resource file today. The Chinese characters do show but just overlapped one by one. So basically all you see is a bunch of Chinese characters filled in and overlapped at single character space. Interestingly, when you try to delete those Chinese characters, you just delete the following XML closing tag but not the Chinese character itself...
Have tried copy/paste, same result. I am using the Windows 32bit version.
Can anybody help to fix this issue?
Please check this issue and linked issues for the problem background.
Right now when IDEA doesn't find the glyph to display in the current editor font that you have set in File | Settings | Editor | Colors & Fonts, Font, it starts to search for the first font that has this glyph and finds some font with incorrect metrics that displays overlapping glyphs.
When this request is implemented, you'll be able to specify the order of fall back fonts so that some properly working font is tried first.
At the moment the solution is to change the editor font to the one that has all the required glyphs and proper font metrics (or to find and uninstall the font that is tried first and is displayed incorrectly, note that when running under JDK 1.7 IDEA will also try .otf fonts, not just .ttf, that is why the behavior is different in IDEA 11 defaulting to JDK 1.6 and IDEA 12 that runs under JDK 1.7).
