missing line breaks - api

I'm trying to include a fb feed on a website using the graph api
ie. https://graph.facebook.com/xxx?fields=feed
This works fine but I noticed when looping through the objects that the actual content is missing layout formatting, especially line breaks. This makes the content of the returned strings rather unusefull for me right now.
Is there another way of retrieving the formatted text, or am I missing something here?
thx!

This works fine but I noticed when looping through the objects that the actual content is missing layout formatting, especially line breaks.
And how are you doing this “looping through”, or rather more important, how are you checking that there are no line breaks?
or am I missing something here?
Well, you wouldn’t be the first one to forget that HTML does just display any whitespace condensed to one space character under normal circumstances …

Content in meta tag

Like the first image, the meta tag is displayed correctly in inspect elements mode but incorrectly displayed in view page source mode as in the second image. Thank you for suggesting a solution to this problem.
I understood the answer:
Because, by default, the HTML encoding engine will only safelist the basic latin alphabet (because browsers have bugs. So we're trying to protect against unknown problems). The &XXX values you see still render as correctly as you can see in your screen shots, so there's no real harm, aside from the increased page size.
If the increased page size bothers you then you can customise the encoder to safe list your own character pages (not language, Unicode doesn't think in terms on language)
To widen the characters treated as safe by the encoder you would insert the following line into the ConfigureServices() method in startup.cs;
services.AddSingleton<HtmlEncoder>(
HtmlEncoder.Create(allowedRanges: new[] { UnicodeRanges.BasicLatin,
UnicodeRanges.Arabic }));
Arabic has quite a few blocks in Unicode, so you may need to add more blocks to get the full range you need.

How to add line breaks to Redmine markdown in code highlighting?

The Redmine textile formatting guide directs us to use code highlighting like so:
<pre><code class="ruby">
Place your code here.
</code></pre>
And while line breaks are preserved within <pre> tags, once I add the <code class="python">, it removes all line breaks and places all the text on a single line. And of course, hacks like (which answered this question) or html tags don't work because it's still wrapped inside <pre>.
I've tried wrapping each individual line with <code></code> all within one <pre></pre>, but that didn't work. I've tried adding double spaces to the end of each line, and additional new lines in between but to no avail.
And while the Redmine guide above says code highlighting relies on Rouge, my version of Redmine uses CodeRay, whose website examples handle line breaks perfectly.
Thanks in advance!
Things are working ok for me. See my screenshots. Perhaps your theme is affecting that.
I'm using Abacus office 1.3.4 theme on Redmine v3.2.
Could any plugins that you have installed be causing that?

Gridster add_widget is slow

I want use Gridster for my web site, but i need to add lot of widgets with "add_widget" command. I do a test and i think there is a problem with "add_widget" function : grid is more and more slow and there are memory leak.
You can see that in this video : grister problem video
However, as you can see on the video, if i add widget at beginning (not with add_widget function) there is no problem. Can you help me ? Something wrong with my code ?
Thanks in advance !
In my own experience, the main culprit was using the autogenerate_stylesheet setting. The problem is that it regenerates the css on every call to add_widget(), and this just absolutely kills browsers. Additionally, gridster has/had a bug where stylesheets get duplicated, filling the <head> with tons of duplicate style rules, making it tough on the browser(this bug was supposedly fixed, but my experience was that the fix only worked in specific scenarios, definitely not in mine).
When I used gridster, my widgets were always the same size. So, in my case, I was able to generate the stylesheet once, never needing to regenerate it.
I don't think its part of the public api, but you can just call generate_stylesheet() method once manually.
var gridster = $(".gridster ul").gridster({
autogenerate_stylesheet: false,
widget_base_dimensions: [140, 140],
//other options...
}).data('gridster');
gridster.generate_stylesheet({rows: 30; cols: 8});
//freely call gridster.add_widget(...); as many times as you like
Since you're only going to generate the stylesheet once, you need to make sure gridster will generate style rules for enough rows and columns to accommodate all your widgets, otherwise once you exceed the range, you'll experience broken layouts. Just supply an upper bound on rows and cols when calling generate_stylesheet(opts). If you don't, it seems like it defaults to whatever value your gridster instance is using for max_rows and max_cols.
The nice thing is by manually generating the stylesheet, is that you completely avoid the duplicate style bug too.
The exponential slowdown will be gone. Happy gridstering.
I know I'm a bit late on this but I had the same problem and none of the above solutions worked.
However, I found that I was generating the size and coordinates of the widgets as a string rather than an integer on the back-end.
By making sure they were integers I managed to speed things up loads.
The best way to fix it, is not to disable the autogenerated stylesheet, but to edit the fn.generate_stylesheet function in jquery.gridster.js
At the end of the function, just before these lines:
return this.add_style_tag(styles);
};
add this line:
this.remove_style_tags();
The final result would look like this:
this.remove_style_tags();
return this.add_style_tag(styles);
};
With this, each time a stylesheet is generated, the previous one is removed, so there no duplication problem!

When using pdfpages in LaTeX, how to avoid page breaks before the first page ?

I am creating a large LaTeX document, and my appendix has reproductions of several booklets that I have as PDFs. I am trying to create a section header and then include the pages at a slightly lower scale. For example:
\section{Booklet about Yada Yada Yada}
\includepdf[pages={-}, frame=true, scale=0.8]{booklet_yadayada.pdf}
However, pdfpagex does two annoying things. First, it devotes one output document page for included document page. I can live with that as I am using 80% scale. The main problem, however, is that the first page is also a new page, so I have a page with just a section title, and then a separate page with the booklet.
Is there some way to get pdfpages to be a little smarter here?
\includepdf uses \includegraphics internally, so something like
\section{Foo}
\fbox{\includegraphics[page=1,scale=0.8]{foo.pdf}}
would include the page without starting a new one, although it only does one page at a time.
For me the following worked just fine:
\includepdf[pages=1,pagecommand=\section{Section Heading}]{testpdf}
\includepdf[pages=2-,pagecommand={}]{testpdf}
I tried this solution too, but \includepdf keeps the advantage of outputting the file over the margin (the output is centered from the edges of the page).
So I openned pdfpages.sty, and I searched for \newpage command. I deleted the first occurance (line 326), just to try, and after saving then compiling again, there were no page break anymore.
Use the minipage environement :
\chapter*{Sujet du stage}
%\fbox{
\begin{minipage}{\textwidth}
\includepdf[scale=0.8]{../sujet-stage/main.pdf}
\end{minipage}
It doesn't add any extra page and it works with includepdf.
Thanks for all the answers - I couldn't for the life of me figure out what logic \includepdf uses to insert blank pages; the trick with including the first page via \includegraphics solved most (but not all) of those problems; so here are some notes:
First, out of curiosity, I have also tried to use only \includepdf, but split in two parts:
\includepdf[pages=1]{MYINCLDOC.pdf}
\includepdf[pages=2-last]{MYINCLDOC.pdf}
... unfortunately, this has the same problem as the question in OP.
Since #WASE's answer, there are now multiple \newpages in the source (pdfpages.sty). I tried reading the source, but I found it quite difficult; so I tried temporarily setting \newpage to \relax only for \includepdf - and that puts all pages in the document on top of each other; so probably not a good idea to get rid of \newpage blindly.
Just \includegraphics[page=1,scale=0.8]{foo.pdf} works - but (as #WASE also note) it is aligned at the top-left corner of the page body, which is to say inside the margins; for a full page we'd want the pdf inclusion overlaid over the whole page, margins included.
This page: graphics - How do I add an image in the upper, left-hand corner using TikZ and graphicx - TeX - LaTeX points to several possibilities for positioning on page over the margins; but for me, the best solution for a full page PDF inclusion is to use package tikz to center it to the page:
\begin{tikzpicture}[remember picture,overlay]
\node at (current page.center) {\includegraphics[page=1]{MYINCLDOC.pdf}};
\end{tikzpicture}
\includepdf[pages=2-last]{MYINCLDOC.pdf}
After this is done, as a bonus, I have also experienced:
Proper targets of PDF bookmarks (going to the right page when clicked)
If you use package pax, the data seems to be included also for the \includegraphics standalone first page, so no difference there
If you have a twoside document - pdfpages, with the above split of the first page in \includegraphics, will now (seemingly) correctly insert the equivalent of \cleardoublepages between pdfs that are included back to back (so I don't have to insert such a command manually).
Hope this helps someone,
Cheers!
I'm a little late, but the following solution worked for me:
\includepdf[pages={-},angle=90, scale=0.7]{lorem-ipsum.pdf}
All pages are imported, scaled and rotated by 90 degrees.
Works with Texmaker 5.0.4

Dojo - Some of my form.dijit's seem to be dead/inactive on one page

I was started to work on my first sample of the dijit.Tree control.
When it didn't work, I added a couple of dijit.form.Textbox'es to the screen, and they didn't work either, even though I have them working fine on a similar form.
Interesting enough, when I killed FireFox and restarted it, I was got a clear message in FireBug console on what was wrong with my tree control, and got it fixed.
But now I'm rather puzzled while the simple dijits like NumberTextBox that I added are not working.
My Samples:
1) http://3wcloud-com-provisioning-qa.appspot.com/testDijitDate - this works great
(except the initial date value not showing - I have a separate question open on that)
2) http://3wcloud-com-provisioning-qa.appspot.com/testDijitTree
I've done several "diff"s on the two files, and I kind find the difference that would cause one to work and one not to work.
Thanks,
Neal
You should put your dojo.require statements immediately in a script block, not wrapped in the onload callback. Also, your input tags should be HTML style without the XHTML style slash (you didn't declare XHTML in your document) though I doubt that's the problem. See if either of those things help.
