I want to buy a Seagate Backup Plus external HDD. It comes with an adaptor which is really useful as you can get the adapter down and just put in like an internal Sata HDD, and with the adapter on you can connect it via USB.
Now, my question is if I could use the adapter on any internal hdd so that I will be able to acces it via USB?
From what I've seen this should be possible as it has just the standard Sata and alimentation cable slots but I'm not that good with hardware and would like a second opinion from others who are willing to help before I buy it.
Thanks a lot.
EDIT: We are talking about the portable edition.

I'm not sure you could use that cable on any internal HDD.
With that said you could however get something similar to this which will in fact allow you to use most internal HDD via USB:

Yes, that should work with any SATA HDD and even with SSD if required.
If it is a laptop drive it should be also fine: https://superuser.com/questions/226481/connect-a-2-5-laptop-hard-disk-sata-hard-disk-to-desktop-pc

I have an Nvidia Quadro 600 card in my workstation and was curious if there was any way I could use three monitors with the card without using external graphics hardware (Matrox display2go et al.). It has 1 Dual Link DVI-I port and 1 DisplayPort port. I'm using two monitors, one with each port but I would like to have a third one.
Is that possible somehow?
Thanks
You can. I have seen some thin client concept which connects through an ethernet cord. Monitor gets a power adapter, just like for mobile. I have seen this setup with a D-link manufacturer.. But it in fact works for any machine.
This is the solution to connect the third monitor: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-External-Video-Monitor-Adapter/dp/B0086359SG/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1388206061&sr=1-2&keywords=usb+3.0+to+dvi
I have plenty of USB 3.0 so that is the best option.
Thank you anyway

is it possible to set 2 separate ip addresses on a laptop by adding a USB network adaptor?
And if so, which one would you recommend?
Thanks!
You can have as more as network interfaces you want, I don't understand which one would you recommend part, but if I understood correctly I mean, if I suggest USB network adapter at all or not.
USB network adapters are restricted to USB speed, so if you have high speed internet and you want to use it with USB network adapter, it's not possible. I'm talking about 1GB, I think maximum speed you can get from USB network adapter is 300 MBits.

I am anticipating multiple projects in Linux in the near future. I believe I am going buy a new, fast development laptop and was thinking about running Linux natively on the box for speed reasons (I usually run Linux in a VM on a Windows box).
However, I have been juggling with the idea of continuing to work with Linux in virtual environments, one VM per project. It seems to have the upside of environment isolation as well as strong portability. The downsides seem to be speed (since I am not running the OS natively) and isolation of some resources I would like to be common (let's say Pidgin, where I want to access common logs or something).
Are people doing this? What else is there to consider? Any insight would be great. Thanks.
Going with Preet's answer: As I always say..... unless you have a issue - don't optimise, and then first throw more hardware at it....In other words - why not try it. A linux host is likely to be very fast host for virtual machines. – Preet Sangha

We have a need to have a datastore of some form that has the following properties.
Relocatable, local or remote systems.
Capable of multiple readers/writers, new queries should contain updates.
De-centralized, no server would be required.
Capable of holding at least 16 Mb of data.
SQL CE seems capable, but I'm not sure I'd understand what technologies would go into integrating such a solution as I don't really have an SQL background.
Is there anyone that has tackled a problem like this? what solutions have worked for you?
For point #1, do you want to be able to access the SQL CE database remotely on a share? If so I do not believe you want to do this as CE is not targetted for this. See this link for some details. I think it would be fine for the other 3 items if I am understanding you properly.

How do you connect these to your computer? Which one would be easier to burn?
The information you seek can be found by comparing the data sheets: AT89C51, AT89S51, however you will see in this first link that it states:
Not recommended for new designs. Use AT89S51.
So that probably makes your last question irrelevant, you should use the AT89S51 regardless.
With regard to your second question (which I interpret as "connecting to a development host"), I suggest that you use an off-the-shelf development board unless you have the means and skill to produce your own. In-system programming can be achieved through the UART (there's an app. note in the link above), so you'll need a PC with an RS-232 serial interface and a NULL-Modem cable (the latter may come with the board). If you do not have a serial port on your PC, get a USB serial port adapter.
Obviously you need the development tools; at leas a compiler, and for debugging you'd benefit from an emulator; again the link above has references to tools.
Overall; read the manufacturer's documentation is the answer to all your questions! ;-)
