Failed to find or load the registered .Net Framework Data Provider - asp.net-mvc-4

I got the following error: "Failed to find or load the registered .Net Framework Data Provider." It only occur in AppHarbor server, not my local
I use .Net mvc4 and mysql
I have added MySql.Data, MySql.Data.Entity, MySql.Web to reference and set Copy Local = true. I also push bin folder to AppHarbor

Any help is really really appreciated. Thank in advance

Have you tried using the NuGet packages?
http://nuget.org/packages/MySql.Data
http://nuget.org/packages/MySQL.Data.Entities
... they should make sure that right bits go where they are needed. You can use NuGet package restore to avoid pushing the package contents to AppHarbor.

I just saw that the reason of this exception in my case were the differt versions between dll and the configuration entry.
So, sometimes the dll you actually have (either installed by nuget or other way) differs from the entry in the node of the app.config.
This section, if not in app.config, can be also found under
Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Config\machine.config
and nearby folders.
Changing version in the entry to version of the dll solved the issue.

For me, my nuget doesnt add the necessary Dlls in the my project/bin. So copy pasting the all the missing DLLs from the package folder to bin folder solves this problem.

Thanks, I think the db provider factories in the web.config is the fix

</DbProviderFactories>

Viewbag, model, and Actionlink do not exist in current context

An existing mvc4 project was working just fine. Then I had to repair it because of the mvc.dll update microsoft did. After this I updated my nuget packages. Now I'm getting red squiggly lines in my razor files, and reports of an error. My project compiles and runs fine... but the intellisense doesn't work.
Error 49 'System.Web.WebPages.Html.HtmlHelper' does not contain a definition for 'ActionLink' and no extension method 'ActionLink' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Web.WebPages.Html.HtmlHelper' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
From what I'm reading, it has to do with the web.config, but I haven't found anything to be a solution. I'm stuck using mvc4, upgrading to mvc5 is not an option.
Everything in the configuration files were auto generated. The bindings were added by vs (I clicked on the error message and it added the bindings for me). I only added the kendo part as per the kendo docs.
Heres my views/web.config:

Not what you want to hear, I'm sure, but this happened to me once before. I tried everything under the sun - every "solution" I could possibly find online, and nothing worked. I eventually resolved it by creating a new project and adding back all the files from the old one: models, controllers, etc. Then, I reinstalled all the Nuget packages until everything resolved. Huge pain in the posterior region, but it worked. Wish I had better news for you.
I have the same problem in 1 partial view. I resolve the problem by deleting and adding the file

If you could post your web.config (remove any credential type stuff), that would help.
But the message looks pretty clear. You have a duplicate entity framework section.
The lines it showed you in the error message are the relevant lines it's talking about.
If you go into your web.config, you will probably see two sections that look something like
<section name="entityFramework" type="System.Data.Entity.Internal.ConfigFile.EntityFrameworkSection, EntityFramework, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" requirePermission="false" />
Just remove one of them and try again.

Could not load type 'PayPal.Manager.SDKConfigHandler' from assembly 'PayPal_Merchant_SDK'

I am trying to integrate paypal mobile checkout into a mobile web app, developed using mvc4, for some reason, when I try to use the function SetMobileExpressCheckout(xxx), I am getting the above error.
I have added the web.config entry across from the sdk example, and have added the reference to the 2 dlls that come with the SDK, but it still crashes, the full error message is below :
{"An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for paypal: Could not load type 'PayPal.Manager.SDKConfigHandler' from assembly 'PayPal_Merchant_SDK'. (C:\Projects\Mobile Development\Print Management\Print Management\web.config line 8)"}
so looking at this, it is pointing to the entry in the web config file, which is added below, I have also created a new project with an empty site, added a page, and all the web.config entries etc, and it works fine.
Could it be something to do with mvc4 ??
I know the web.config entry is large, but I thought I would put it all in there incase it is something else in there causing the problem.
any help would be much appreciated, as I am very close to having this finished, but I just cant seem to find what the issue is here

Had the same issue, and could resolve it by exchanging
PayPal_Merchant_SDK
to
PayPal_Core_SDK
in the configSections part.
The assembly name is wrong in the paypal doc and samples. The config section should reference the assembly name. So "PayPal_Core_SDK" should really be "PayPalCoreSDK"
well, after trying to get it working late into the evening yesterday, I decided to create a new mvc4 mobile web app, and only put in the paypal references etc, and low and behold, it worked, now I am not sure what is wrong with the other app, but I think it will probably be quicker to just transfer my code a cross section by section.
I just thought I would let people know, and if I get chance, I will look at the code again, as I don't like been beat :-)

Roles.GetRolesForUser(); does not seem to work in MVC 4

I'm trying to create a new MVC 4 internet site using the internet template provided in VS2012. I am able to register users for the site and successfully log in and log out. I can see that the SimpleMembership has created 5 tables (UserProfile, webpages_Membership, webpages_OAuthMembership, webpages_Roles, webpages_UsersInRoles) and the logins that I created through the site have been put into the correct places (correct as I expect them anyway!)
What I am having trouble with is roles of users. Firstly I don't seem to be able to use the old ASP.NET configuration page - it takes forever to load and then when it finally does it gives this error when you click the security link:
There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.
The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Unable to connect to SQL Server database.
and this error when you try to do the provider configuration
Could not establish a connection to the database.
If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider.
I tried running aspnet_regsql which created the old style membership tables along side the newer ones that the site had already created when I registered my first user.
so to get around that problem as far as creating roles was concerned I put a role into the database myself and put a user in the role. Now running the site I cannot use Roles.GetRolesForUser() either as it also says "Unable to connect to SQL Server database" while debugging (and the YOD gives a null ref exception).
I notice in web.config that there is no longer a section about membership/roles providers etc that used to be there (eg if you make an MVC 3 internet application)
I have been searching for answers for days can anyone shed some light on what I might be doing wrong?
Here is my web.config (with a connection string removed)

When trying to add authentication I am getting the following error:
The connection name 'ApplicationServices' was not found in the applications configuration or the connection string is empty.
I would love the authentication and application settings to be stored in the existing DB. how do I fix this?
The connectionStringName property of the provider entries are set to "ApplicationServices" which is not a named connection string in your web.config. Your connection string is named "LaundryDBContext".
Change the connnectionStringName property to "LaundryDBContext" and the provider will use that connection string to talk to your database.
You should read one of the many walkthroughs on configuring membership to understand how that works in more detail.
In brief...
open the visual studio command prompt and type aspnet_regsql
Follow the wizard in the dialog that opens to add the aspnet membership schema to your database.
