I have virtual keyboard which should be hidden and i want to show it only when textbox get focus. I'm using mvvm so i dont want to write any code on code behind, so i want to make some trigger if it's possible which can watch all texboxes and set visibility on my virtual keyboard.
Or i can do it in controller but i cant find the way how to get current focused control
<DockPanel FocusManager.FocusedElement="{Binding FocusedElement, Mode=TwoWay}"
doesnt work
unfortunately didn't found solution to use triggers but atleast i can get IsFocused value using extension, got it from here Set focus on textbox in WPF from view model (C#)

I am using Xamarin.Forms, with my view created fully in XAML. I am also using Xamarin.Forms.Labs.
I have bound an EntryCell to a property like so:
<EntryCell Label="Name:" Text="{Binding Name, Mode=TwoWay}" />
The page has a 'Save' ToolBarItem which saves the property to a database.
The issue I have is that the Name property is only updated when the entry cell loses focus after the user changes the text. Clicking the ToolBarItem does not change focus and therefore the property is not updated before being saved.
I would like the property to be updated with every key press from the user. I know of 'UpdateSourceTrigger' for Silverlight, but I can't find an equivalent way to do this in Xamarin Forms?
There is no equivalent for UpdateSourceTrigger in Xamarin.Forms
There doesn't seem to be a xamarin equivalent to UpdateSourceTrigger. I have had success by removing the SetProperty call from the bound property so that the property changed does not fire, and then using EntryUnfocused to trigger an explicit PropertyChanged event.
I want to write an AutomationPeer for my custom control in WPF.
Now, I want to show textBlocks \ TextBoxex that are not actually visible on my control.
I know how to override the method GetChildrenCore().
My problem is that when i run the playback (coded ui record) - it's trying to find a control not vissible on the window. Have you got any ideas?
You can set the SearchConfiguration VisibleOnly on the Coded UI control. Also, the UITestControl.FindMatchingControls method can let you know if the search properties are too ambiguous. Coded UI stops looking for a control after the first instance of a matching control is found.
inspect.exe can shed light on a form and how Coded UI may be seeing the control.
Try opening the Designer.cs and see the hierarchy and what Coded UI is trying to find.
I am creating a windows 8 store application using vs2012.
I am tying to switch to another xaml form by click of a button but cannot do it.
I want the code to close or hide the current form and to switch over to new form .

If you are looking to wholesale replace the content then you can use the Frame.Navigate() method.
Frame rootFrame = Window.Current.Content as Frame;
rootFrame.Navigate(typeof(YourPageClass));
or simply
this.Frame.Navigate(typeof(YourPageClass));
remember that not every elemet has property hide or something like that. If you want to hide a grid with form or do a simillar thing you need to know the property that is responsible for visibility (in most cases it is Visibility and it is a bool).
The second thing is that you can be a newbie but if you want help make some effort and give us what you want
The third thing. If you want to change a page after click use Marc`s solution
I am developing desktop application using vb.net and vs2008.
I have a DropDownList that I don't want it interact with use when the info is locked.
But if I disable it, it is greyed out and the text is not easy to read.
Is there any way to make radiobutton like readonly textbox?
I want text of the DropDownList looks black and itself is not clickable.
The above shows a disabled DropDownList with greyed out text and a readonly textbox
Try this:
Enable="false"
Place it within your <asp:DropDownList> tag.
I recently encountered a similar issue. My solution was to remove all other values of the DropDownList except the one that is selected. This will keep the text as black as opposed to grey. Users will be able see the existing value and click it but will not be able to change it.
Hope this helps.
No, you can't use CSS in a desktop app. When you disable the dropdownlist by setting Disabled=true; or Enabled=false (whatever the case is), you can also change the Font properties to make it easier to read. You can set other properties such as Border, BorderStyle, etc, etc.
Keep the control enabled. In the GOTFOCUS event, use SENDKEYS to send a {tab} to the form. the user will not be able to change it! By the way, workt for ALL controls, that a user can focus.
I cant seem to get VB to focus on a textbox correctly at the moment I did
TextBox.focus()
in the load event but still a button keeps grabbing focus anyway. Does anyone know why this would happen?
Try changing the tabindex property.
in webforms, see http://www.w3schools.com/aspnet/prop_webcontrol_standard_tabindex.asp
in winforms View -> Tab Order when the desing view is open
if that doesnt work, try calling the Select() method on your TextBox.
