I am using the lanterna library for Java to write a basic console based GUI. The library includes a Swing-based Terminal as well as the ability to output to the system's terminal application.
In IDEA, When I try to use the system terminal functionality with this library it outputs to the IDE terminal. Is there a way to make IntelliJ IDEA direct stdout to the system terminal instead?
IntelliJ IDEA doesn't have such feature. You can run the app in the real terminal and use Remote debugging instead.

I've been given SSH access to a "super computer" on which I want to run my program.
I know I could build my program in IntelliJ, copy the jar over to the server, and then run the program, but this is a tedious process. I also wouldn't be able to make use of intellijs debugging / profiling utilities.
Does IntelliJ support the building / execution of a project remotely?
I have a dev *nix box. For most cases I can just ssh into the box and use emacs to develop. However, as I've started doing more Java work with very large codebases, I've realized IntelliJ IDEA is pretty invaluable.
Problem: I would like to use IntelliJ IDEA on OS X, but work with a project located on some other machine. Is there a way to configure IntelliJ IDEA to do this? (over ssh/mosh/or whatever)

I ended up just using IntelliJ locally and pointing it to a mounted server drive.
I assume that by "project" you actually mean the application that is running on a remote box? In IntelliJ IDEA, there's an option for remote server configuration. It is also possible to edit individual files at remote hosts if that's a requirement.
I use JProfiler 8.1.4 and I have it integrated with IntelliJ IDEA 14.1.3.
I have a JProfiler session for profiling JBoss using the standalone_jprofiler.bat script like this:
Now, when I want to go to the source code for some method, JProfiler uses a (minimal) internal file viewer instead of using IntelliJ.
I would assume that the source code linking works fine when the profiling is initiated by the IntelliJ plugin, but in my case I don't know what run configuration to create in IntelliJ for standalone_jprofiler.bat.
So finally, my question is: Is it possible to see the code in IntelliJ when the profiling is initiated from the standalone JProfiler application?
One more piece of information: In this case I want the profiling to be activated immediately on startup.
I apologize in advance if this is too simple or silly. I've used JProfiler for just one day and googling didn't yield any relevant answers.

No, that is not possible, you have to start the profiling session from IDEA to get source code navigation in the IDE.
Another possibility is to save a snapshot in JProfiler and open that snapshot in IDEA (via File->Open File). If the JProfiler plugin is installed in IDEA, the snapshot will then be opened with source code navigation in the IDE.
Lets say I have run-config1 and run-config2 setup for my project in IntelliJ.
I know there are ways of adding custom shell code to be perfomed before/after a build run, but that's not what I want to do.
Is there a way of calling them from the embedded terminal?
As of IntelliJ IDEA 14 there is no such way. You can write a plugin for IntelliJ IDEA that will handle a command like "idea.sh run configuration-name" and start the run configuration in the existing instance, but this is fairly non-trivial.
Im creating a JavaFX application in IntelliJ IDEA, and I am new to IntelliJ.
I would like to be able to compile my JavaFX application on a Raspberry Pi, but my app is quite complex and relies on 3rd party libraries, etc.
I would like to be able to see what exactly is going on in IntelliJ when I run "Make Project"
Is there a command line output screen that Im simply missing? I want the exact command that IntelliJ uses to compile the application.
Essentially, on the Pi, I want to get the code from my repo, run the compilation command and produce an executable JAR on demand.
I have of course read the doco on how to compile a JavaFX application, but if I could see what IntelliJ does, that would be fantastic.
So far I haven't found such an option but the process is most likely some sort of flow based on IntelliJ plugins and the documentation seems to support this theory.
Perhaps you'd consider using a software management and build tool such as maven or ant or something similar. This should give you (almost) unlimited options to configure your desired build sequence and 3rd party dependencies.
