Metro JS/HTML5 app and Table Storage - windows-8

I'm trying to find out if it is possible to create a Metro style app on Win 8 using JS/HTML5 that stores its data in an Windows Azure table storage.
Couldn't find any sample of that. The only thing I saw is to have push notifications in my Metro style app but not storing data on a table storage.
Is it possible? and where can I find a sample of that?
Thanks a lot.

Yes, it's possible. Check out the Windows Azure Toolkit for Windows 8 Consumer Prv. There is a Windows 8 cloud app in there:
Immediately, out of the box, the client and server projects integrate to enable push notifications with the Windows Push Notification Service (WNS). In addition, the Windows Azure project demonstrates how to use the Windows Push Notifications Recipe and how to leverage Windows Azure blob and table storage.
There are also tons of Azure samples.

First of all you still need two main things to run Windows Azure Application on Windows 8:
Windows Azure Toolkit for Windows 8
Windows Azure SDK 1.6 (Latest available)
Once you have that you can still use Azure SDK 1.6 to connect to Windows Azure Table Storage and once you have data you can render using JQuery/JS and or any other UI specific language.

Check if a tablet is connected to a power supply from a windows 8 store app

Is it possible from a Windows 8.1 store application to tell if the tablet has it's power supply connected.
Basically I poll a service every 15 minutes to check for new data but I'd like this to be every minute if the power is connected.
I did ask this question a while back and was told it wasn't possible but I was wondering if the windows 8.1 update has added any extra functionality.
I'm using Visual Studio 2013 and the application is a Windows 8.1 application.
Many thanks

Windows Phone 8 access to SQL remote Database

I'm trying to develop a WP8 app, and I have a free online sql server (not windows azure).
How can I Access the Database from the phone app?
I tried a local WPF sevice and it worked, but it won't help if I'd like to upload the app to the store.
Thanks for the help!
As far as i'm aware, you can't access the database directly, you need a proxy web service for this, i recommend you to look at OData, REST APIs and also to JSON or XML to transfer your data from the database to your app.

How To Query A Remote Index From Windows 8

I have a machine running Windows 2008 Server using the built-in Windows Indexing functionality. I have a separate machine running Windows 8. I need to query the Windows 2008 index from the Windows 8 machine. I used to be able to do this using the MSIDXS provider but this is no longer in option in Windows 8.
Is there a new way to deal with this scenario? My internet searches haven't turned up much.
Windows Store apps use contracts and extensions to enable communications between apps and between an app and Windows. More info on the subject here. I haven't worked with MSIDXS provider, but from what you described, you will not be able to access the data residing on a server directly as you would before.
One option is to expose the index data as a service to your Windows Store app. This is probably not optimized for your case, but it is a general approach to consider when you need to communicate with resources outside of your Windows Store app.

Is side-loading apps onto a Windows RT device allowed?

Is it possible to side-load a Windows 8 app (WinRT) onto a Windows RT device like the new Microsoft Surface RT? For example, if I have an internal, line of business application can I give a Microsoft Surface RT to my executives and load up my corporate apps without delivering them through the Windows Store?
Yes. Side-loading is natively supported on:
Windows RT
Windows 8 Pro
Windows 8 Enterprise
And, side-loading is enabled with Visual Studio on:
Windows 8 Core
Enterprises can deploy apps using Microsoft Configuration Manager just like they deploy desktop apps today. Enterprises can also uses Microsoft Intune and its Windows 8 Self-Service Portal (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/04/19/managing-quot-byo-quot-pcs-in-the-enterprise-including-woa.aspx) app to securely deliver apps to devices, too.
Considering this? Here's an interesting article about W8 tablet security: http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Windows-8-Tablets-Secure-enough-Enterprise.html
