since yesterday I´m getting "document is not under source control" when clicking on a nib file in the navigator. And instead of the graphical presentation I see xml.
I´ve been using the current version 4.3.2 (4E2002) since March 21st 2012. But this error came up first yesterday night. Restarting and cleaning the project didn´t help and restarting the mac didn´t help either. When switching to another project, I don´t have that problem. I´m not aware that I changed any preferences.
Any clues what´s wrong?
Greetings from Switzerland, Ronald Hofmann
Solution
I found what was wrong: 'Show the version editor' was turned on.
When turning it off the error is gone.

Try control-clicking on the nib file in the navigator and then go to "Open-As" and select Interface Builder - iOS. That should clear up your problem with it displaying as XML.
As far as it being under source control, is your project as a whole under source control? If so, what are you using?

This is a follow-up on the problem reported in this question with this same name.
I am having the same issue in Visual Studio 2022 of objects collapsing after a few seconds or when clicking on another object. The answer provided was changing a setting in CodeMaid, but I have not loaded CodeMaid and am having the same issue.
I have tried multiple variations of checking and unchecking Tools/Options/Projects and Solutions/General options "Track Active Item in Solution Explorer" and "Restore Solution Explorer project hierarchy state on solution load" and nothing works. As I code, I will open Controllers to see the list of methods inside or a data model to view the variables for reference while I am working on other aspects of the code. It is very frustrating to have them close after a few seconds, forcing me to reopen them again, over and over, throughout the day. Any help would be appreciated on this matter.
Update: A Microsoft Solution was posted here. They included a fix in Visual Studio version 17.3.5 supposedly. Update your IDE and the issue should hopefully be resolved.
This seems to be a known issue under investigation as reported in the bug tracker for Visual Studio. Using version 17.3.0 Preview 2.0 I too have observed this buggy behavior.
A few other users have mentioned on the same thread they are having the same problem. One user posted steps to reproduce which is similar to what I have tried to reproduce the issue myself:
I expand Blazor project, I expand Pages folder, I lookup and expand a particular .razor file which has a nested .razor.cs file with code, I expand it, see the class node, expand class node, click on a property and usually in this moment, after less than a second or so the branch collapses and the focus in on the razor.cs node.
The ticket says that it "worked-in:Visual Studio 2022 17.0" - perhaps try rolling back to this version if you can. Otherwise, you may have to wait for a fix.
I had the same problem and I think I found the cause and a solution. The problem is the preview tab, which opens automatically on the right side of the tab area when an element is selected in the solution explorer. I unchecked the Preview Tab option under Options->Environment->Tabs and Windows and haven't had any problems since.
greets...
I'm trying to access the project properties but the window appears blank. I've tried web solutions View>Properties Window, f4, right click on project folder>properties, Also tried resetting import/export settings, searching for specific tab
everything results in a blank window.. Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
I ran into this same problem with VS 2022 v17.4.0 Preview 1.0 in a C# Windows forms app. Closing and opening the solution/VS didn't have any effect.
After I closed all the open tabs and reopened a file, the Properties pane was populating correctly.
Does your toolbox items also appear 'greyed out'?
Try Going to your Build Menu and select
Clean Solution
(and perhaps Rebuild afterward - or not)
This happens constantly on my install. I simply minimize the entire VS window, then restore it. Poof! My properties appear. Trivial, but painful.
1 Make sure that your build program is not running (use task manager to end that process if needed) and make sure that you can rebuild your project without errors.
2 Restart Visual Studio as an Administrator.
Good Luck For You All ^_^
I have just encountered this error and it was simply solved by closing the visual studio and reopening it again. it is just gone.
I'm experimenting with VSCode(specifically version 1.17.1),
and I noticed if I change the content of some files programatically, the updated content doesn't appear immediately and I need to close and reopen the file!
Is this a common issue with VSCode, and how to solve it if there is any solution that doesn't involve a refresh command or a key binding like alt+f5.
Thank you in advance.
Recently I was using Aptana to view multiple files side by side. The unfortunate thing is that now I can not remove the editor (side by side) windows that are marked by red arrows. Also, you can obviously see that I have been trying to drag them away which is making the problem worse. I have tried to Google around but have found no solution. I can uninstall and reinstall Aptana, but if there is a fix I would rather know it and not have to go through a reinstallation process each time an issue like this arises.
Also I would like to add that I may be having trouble Googling the solution since I am not 100% sure on the name of the "editor tabs". Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My reputation is too low so here is a image link of my issue:

The answer is extremely simple. If you ever run into the issue as shown in the picture above, simply open new files and drag them into the empty spaces that the extra "editor windows" are located. From there just close (x) out the window and it will remove the extra windows.
I created a script in Outlook 2003 VBA that watches for new appointments, and sets them to tentative and no reminder as I create them. I find that seemingly at random, the VBA editor will open itself. It doesn't happen when I use the new script, but it did happen this morning when I un-hibernated my laptop, for example.
The editor doesn't pop up any runtime errors or highlight any lines in the script, it's just there as if I had pressed Alt-F11 to launch it. Sometimes I close other apps and see that it's been sitting back there for a while.
This behavior has only been occurring since I created this new script. Any ideas why this would occur?
As stated in, Microsoft Support Center:
"This problem occurs only if the Microsoft Visual Basic Editor window
is maximized."
Solution:
Un-Maximize Visual Basic Editor and close it.
And you are done!
If you have previously set breakpoints, it may be that you still have a phantom breakpoint. Try choosing "remove all breakpoints" and see if that clears the problem.
Check also that you have not chosen "Break on all errors" under options, and that your error handler is functioning properly.
Believe it or not, this is a known issue. Check out this MS Support link:

I have the same problem and found it while I was looking for a solution. Since it gives no advice, I kept searching and came across your post. I will come back with an update if I find a solution.
The MS page linked by Jaquez hints at the answer; just make sure you don't run the editor maximized, and the problem should go away. If you restore it to a non-maximized state, then resize it to take up the whole screen, it should remember its position.
It's a pain if you only have a small screen, but on a normal large monitor it works fine, and solved the problem for me.
I have the same problem, except that it only occurs when I've gone in and unlocked the VBA project for editing and haven't restarted Outlook. It seems to open up when I get a new email (that's when my VBA runs) so basically I just have to restart Outlook and lock the project back up.
Sorry I don't know what's really causing it, but locking the VBA project should fix the problem...
My solution was to search for the .otm file of my VBA project. It was stored under data\microsoft\outlook. I closed Outlook and deleted the .otm file. Restarted Outlook and it was solved.
Just wanted to add that I was running into a phantom breakpoint issue with VBA in excel. Clearing all breakpoints did not work for me, but I resolved it as follows: Copy all content from offending module into a text file. Delete module. Re-create module. Copy back in all text. Save. Phantom breakpoint gone.
