Debug C# Metro app on non-networked machine - windows-8

I'm trying to create my first Metro app, in order to debug it and run it, do I need a developer licence? And if my machine is not connected to the web - what can I do? Nothing?

You can just open Visual Studio 11 Express for Windows 8 or VS 11 Beta and it will get a free license from Microsoft that I believe will be free for a month or so. They have been extending it every month so far. I believe you do need to be online to get it though.

Visual Studio Crashes when trying to connect to SQL Database

I've been developing an application In VB.net for the past few months using Visual Studio 2013 Pro and Azure Cloud Services. Thursday when I went to run / debug the application I got an exception vshost32.exe has stopped working. After hours of research, trial and error I was unable to fix it. I uninstalled VS and re-installed it. No Luck :(
I was then frustrated to the point that I wiped my computer, Formatted the hard drives and Installed a clean version of Windows 7 Ultimate and VS Pro 2013. My application still does the same thing.. any idea what the heck is going on here? I have changed the debugger to x86 followed hundreds of solutions online with no luck.
I have now started another application but when I connect to my Azure Files then try to connect to the DB in SQL Server Explorer within VS it literally just crashes Visual Studio goes into debug mode then restarts. I have tried disabling my Firewall and Virus Protection. Can anyone point me in the right direction, I'm bummed right out as it seems I have an application which was nearing completion that is now unusable...
Thanks in advance to Everyone for your help and replies!
Do you encounter the problem when you debug it? I had the same problem when I was debugging it by pressing F11 key when the debugger point is at the sql statement. If you have the same problem, then try debugging it with F10 key.
I also have the problem to connect remote database a month ago. Each time I connect to the remote database, the application (VisualStudio/SSMS) crashed. After reserching, I found the solution for my case.
The source of my problem are:
Visual Studio 2013 or .NET Framework 4.5.1 installed
Some network anaylyzing / detecting tools installed
I don't know whether you are the same case. You can check the link for details.

Is it possible to build a metro interface app with Vb.net in Visual Studio 2005?

we've been asked to change a webapp we're making to metro interface, the thing is, we have only Visual Studio 2005, what should we do to be able to change our app to Metro?
You will need Visual Studio 2012 as far as I am aware. You can use the free Express Edition of Visual Studio 2012 for building Windows 8 Apps. You will also need to be running Windows 8. You cannot develop Windows 8 Apps on Windows 7, Vista, or any other OS version less than 8.
You can install the Express Edition of 2012 along side Visual Studio 2005 and have them run side-by-side, it doesn't replace 2005, so you can keep using it.
As far as doing it within visual studio 2005 I don't think it's possible. But what you would need is the Windows 8 SDK.
You may be able to get by with the open source IDE Sharp Develop. I haven't used it in a long time so I'm not sure how far you'll get with it.
Requirements for Developing windows 8 Application :-
1 -> Visual Studio 2012
2 -> Windows 8 Latest Version
3 -> Developer License.
Windows Store App Development
Once you are done with this remeber you need to meet certain criteria listed below
App certification and requirements
Now answer to your original question
with visual studio 2005 you wont be able to build the app as 1,2 are the basic requirements, hence forth once you start you can go through the links below to make ur app perfet for the windows store
Note : one bad news . Ull have to code entire thing again as metro is a subset of the win32 api's and it will not even recognize some of them .

Can't see the tile for my Windows 8 Store App after deploying through Visual Studio 2012?

I am developing a Windows 8 Store app. Till sometime back I could see the Tile of the app once I built and ran the Solution from Visual Studio.
However, very recently Visual Studio 2012 seems to have stopped creating the Tile to launch my application in the dev environment. I have to use Application Search to bring up the App shortcut and launch (outside the debugger).
Only recent change in my environment is the Update 1 installation.
Why has Visual Studio stopped creating the Tile or did I mess something up?
Environment:
Windows 8 Pro (x64)
Visual Studio Express 2012 Update 1
If you have un-pinned it from your start screen, it will be in your All Apps, you need to re-pin it. Most likely you just un-pinned rather than un-install.
Same here but I press Uninstall on my app.
Result :
My app is missing from "All apps".
App also cannot create any new/second icons/tiles.
Any new metro app have same problems
I manage to fix it by deleing folder(s) in (this is not good solution. must be another way to restore App):
"C:\Users\UserNameHere\AppData\Local\Packages\"

Windows 8 App Add-on to visual studio 2012 for desktop

The title pretty much says it all. I've downloaded Visual Studio 2012 Express for Desktop but I also want to be able to develop apps for Windows 8.
Rather than having to download another version of Visual studio (Visual Studio 2012 for Windows 8). Isn't there just a way to add add-ons on my current VS to enable developing for Windows 8?
Thanks in advance!
PS - If there's an add-on to develop for Windows PHONE 8 that will also be greatly appreciated!
If you want to develop windows 8 phone, you still can use VS 2012 express, but you must install windows 8 phone SDK, you can download it here http://dev.windowsphone.com/en-us/downloadsdk.
But if you want to develop desktop app with VS 2012 Express, Unfortunately you can't, but IMHO you can still use csharp compiler in command line to do that. but you must references all the library you use in your app. to be honest I never try it, CMIIW.

Error in Visual Studio 11: "could not obtain license due to error 80090317"

I have been playing around with Windows 8 Developer Preview and Visual Studio 11 Express, but I am facing an issue that is a bit annoying. Every 1 or 2 days, I get the following error when I open Visual Studio: "could not obtain license due to error 80090317"
This issue is mentioned here and here, but in both cases it is said that the issue shows up when Windows 8 is installed as an upgrade to Windows 7, which is not my scenario. I did a clean install in an new partition and installed all the updates available. The workaround I have found so far is to put the date of my system a few months in the past, run Visual Studio and acquire a license, then put the current date back. This works for a while until the message shows up again.
Has someone faced this issue?
Has someone a more permanent workaround for this?
A bit more details on my current setup:
Do not use the Developer Preview.
