I have been looking into the supported features of UITextView and its accompanying library Core Text. Under MacOSX you have NSTextTable which allows you to add tables to your text only. Sadly enough, this class is not supported under iOS. Now my question is what is the best approach to support this under iOS?
Just want to make a simple table with five columns. If I understood it correctly I might be able to do something by creating custom attributes for NSAttributedString. Only I am not sure what the best approach is? The objective is that I can create a text document with one table which I can export to RTF. For the latter I would need to write my own RTF exporter class that shouldn't be a big problem. As the RTF format is quite well documented on the Internet. My major problem is how to get the table shown in my text view.
Or should I just go for a UIWebView instead?

In short:
I am trying to find information about text styling inside an NSTextView. Bold, italics, indentation, making a word completely uppercase and setting backdrop colors to certain lines.
Any and all info is welcome. I've been looking around the web for docs on the subject and only managed to find a few things that seem to be part of an iphone framework. I'm sure there must be something out there and that I'm just searching for the wrong words.
A few details:
I am not a developer. I am a motion graphics artist and screenwriter. I do know html, php, javascript, css and several scripting languages (all very similar to javascript) used by different graphics apps.
I am not very proficient in objective-c but I've taken up writing a screenwriting app as a bit of a side project. I've been teaching myself objective-c from a book call Cocoa Programming for Mac OSX and using the code I've created from the examples in the book to create my app using Xcode. Styling text was not covered and I am at a loss as to how to approach it.
Screenplays have very specific formats. Using css I could create this format easily so my first thought was to find out if text inside a NSTextview can have css applied to it. I've not found anything that could answer this. Of course I am probably way off with this approach.
Again, any help or anyone who can point me in the right direction would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks!

You can't do this because it only accept one style.
You have to deal with UIWebView Tutorial for this and use your CSS.
Or you can use some code like EGOTextView. I do not test this but I think it will be the easiest way for you.
Currently, I have an RSS Feed Reader in a UITableView within a Navigation Control. I would like to click on the links and Open up a formatted page (containing all of the information from the website formatted for the iOS screen). I'm not sure if I should do this using the RSS data and a UITextView? I'm currently attempting to use UITextView in hopes that I can separate the information (title, author, body) without anything looking promising. I want to be able to move around the data and format it to my liking in the actual application itself. I read around and noted that you can include HTML and custom CSS. Would this be the way to go? I'm not quite sure how to tackle this. I want the page that opens up to be entirely scrollable (Like the IGN application or Slashgear application). Many apps for websites utilize this (and I am a bit new to this). How do they go about this? I also want to note, at some point I will like to cache the data so it may load what is already loaded without being connected to the internet. Does anyone have any ideas?
Edit:
Ok, I believe I found the correct path to go down from playing around and a lot of googling (nothing directly says what a decent way of doing this is). My particular way as of now is the route of a UIScrollView in general. Now the part I don't understand is how to divide up the long text into 'pages' for scrolling (and I am using the paging feature. This situation has led me into this question: How To Separate Strings For UIScrollView/UITextView based on the size of the frame

Together with an illustrator I want to create some screens with lots of animations/transitions (moving sprites). I need the illustrator to do the animation. He knows how to use AfterEffects so best would be some kind of timeline-tool to create the transitions/scalings/alphas etc.
My question is now: Is there some kind of tool out there that could be used to create animations and then export the used parameters to objective-c to import it to xcode?
Thanx!
To my knowledge: No.
We spend some time a couple of months back trying to find something similar to Expression blend, just for iOS, but without luck.
If you however are planing to make your app for MacOS and not iOS you can take a look at quartz composer. For iOS you could also take a look at storyboard (here is a link to fairly good tutorial), but I'm afraid your needs will not be met by the features of storyboard.
I found Flash2Cocos2D and I think this is the best solution available right now.
Also promissing: cocosbuilder!
I've been looking for 2 days for a solution to that problem but didn't found anything yet. I need to create a PDF File with only one page which shows its content in a table (like a timetable). I'd like to fill the cells with string values, that I am getting from a XML file.
PDFKit wasn't usefull so far and Quartz 2D appears not to be a solution because it's quit complicated to draw a table which I can change easily. Are there any librarys or so to just create a one-paged-tableshowing PDF? Thanks
The easiest approach with the greatest flexibility would probably be to generate the table as HTML, use a WebView to display it and render it to PDF using NSView's dataWithPDFInsideRect: method.
I'm currently writing a QuickLook plugin, and I wondering how I can display an image and some information about that image at the same time, similar to http://www.code-line.com/software/sneakpeekphoto/ .
There is only one way to do so: Convert your content to an already supported one. This means either PDF or HTML. There are two options you have:
For static information you create a simple PDF preview by rendering a view into a PDF. (Use -dataWithPDFInsideRect: method of NSView)
For dynamic information create a HTML page with links and so on. QuickLook will then show it. (I think this is also the way your example does it.)
We have not found a way to create complex previews on ur own and had to stick to one of the methods, too. Keynote and Pages do the same -- they convert their presentations to multi-page PDF previews...
