I tried lot of things to delete a locked folder but I was not able to do it. I tried Process Explorer too. But nuthing works? Is there any other way we can delete the locked folder? I also saw various links on the stackoverflow too. That is also not working..
Are you looking to do this programmatically? Or are you just looking for a tool to "unlock" files?
If you are looking for a freeware tool - Unlocker has worked really well for me when something gets screwed up and files/folders can't be deleted/moved.

I'm trying to run code to delete a directory and all sub-directories. I'm just going to free up space with this so I don't need to actually clear the code off the drive. My problem occurs when the user has set up security on the file to prevent deletion. Is there a way to override this? Here's the code I'm using at the moment. (I'm new to VB so please be gentle.)
My.Computer.FileSystem.DeleteDirectory(strProcRoot, DeleteDirectoryOption.DeleteAllContents)
I was working on a solution and under the assumption that I had already checked in my changes, I pulled down a new version of the solution and all the changes disappeared.
One of my colleagues suggested that as I often ran it in debug mode that there might be a dll kicking about that I can reverse engineer but dlls all seem to have overwritten too.
This is about 2 weeks worth of work so any help would be appreciated.
If you didn't shelve or check in the changes before the overwritten, I'am afraid you'll not be able to revert the file.
However when you edit the files in local, the changes will be temporarily saved to the TFS temporary diff files in "C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Temp\TFSTemp". The files all have names like "vctmp38604_939733.cs". You can get the changes from them.
So, you can have a check for the folder, hopefully the diff files still there.
Just a suggestion: please ALWAYS shelve or check in code in time in case missing the changes.
I am using Bohemian Coding Sketch to design websites. All my files are in Dropbox, shared with a team (another designer). Most of the time we are working together with same files — one is editing, another is watching and discussing. I think this is a pretty common scenario these days.
When files are changed by the other, they get changed on my disk by Dropbox. And after that things go worse. Sketch gives this warning:
Any choice I make is bad, because:
Revert changes. It does not mean "revert to a file on disk". It actually means "revert to a file state, that was when you last opened the file".
Save. Means "overwrite with your changes work from other designer".
Cancel. Means "Do nothing"
Since this dialog opens when I close the Sketch, I have no option, but to shoot myself in a foot.
Does someone have a solution? One proposed is to copy files from shared folders to view them, which works but smells funky...
Ok. So this is a workflow issue. Sketch doesn't have or offer the ability of multiple user versioning. So it's a highly bad idea for more than one person to be working on the same file.
You're two choices are...
Have the other artist create a duplicate file. Not only does this insure proper versioning (something you guys should be keeping track of), but it also allows for the lead to then take the best ideas from each and combine them into a new versioned file.
Purchase an asset management system like AlienBrain. It handles a lot of the tedious processes of versioning for multiple artists in a studio. However I'm not aware of its integration with DropBox.
The best way to sum up the issue would be with a screenshot, but unfortunately my screenshots auto-save to downloads and so I can't upload them. What's happening is that when I enter the 'file select' dialog in trying to upload a file, it's automatically in the 'drive' folder and won't move to any other folder. I've tried restarting and resetting my machine, tried the upload process on a bunch of different platforms, tried using the other user account on my machine, tried updating my software, but none of these have made any difference. I can get into my downloads folder and open files from it fine outside of this context, and I can workaround by using the drag-and-drop to upload on platforms which have this feature, but otherwise I'm stuck.
I've googled extensively to see if anyone else is having this issue and have found this thread: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chromebook-central/d7g9EEDsr8w but there's no helpful solution there (recommended a powerwash but the asker has already done this several times). I've also tried to find a solution with the help of my (programmer) employer, but no luck so he recommended asking here. It seems like it wouldn't be a hardware issue when I can still access the folder outside of this specific function, but if it were a problem with the running system it seems it would be happening across the board and therefore show up more in a google? If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful as it's getting quite tiresome having to drag and drop things into Facebook messages to get them uploaded! The machine is less than a year old so if I can't find any solution I'll see about getting it replaced under warranty. Thanks in advance for any help, and please let me know if there's any key info I've left out!

I just deleted a lot of files and folders in Dropbox by mistake, and it had been synchro.
I know how to restore them one by one on the web, but it seems too troublesome. So I wonder how to restore them efficiently.
Thanks!
You can do this via the API if you want. Check out the delta endpoint. There is a nice blog post on this
