How to get select box options from GetCustomFields() method of jira - api

I was curious if anyone else had an idea how to get a select box options of the custom field in JIRA using soap api, if you have have custom field id.

You can reference select list values by their id. To get id go to Custom Field configuration -> Edit Options. Hover over the option's 'Edit' operation (or click on Edit) and check link address. It will be something like 'secure/admin/EditCustomFieldOptions!edit.jspa?fieldConfigId=10480&selectedValue=10030'
selectedValue is the id of select list option.

Karate UI automation, is it possible to make locators dynamic

Thanks Peter for API,Perf karate framework.
Now I am trying UI automation and it looks perfect as of now.
I have below question:
I have a menu bar with 15 items in it. they are named as following:
-Home
-Account
-groups
-settings
etc etc.
Locator for each one is like this "a[name=Home]" , "a[name=Account]", "a[name=groups]" . So ony the part after name= is something that is dynamic in nature. So my question is that is it possible to somehow make this dynamic locator?
I have written a called feature in which i have written steps to login and select a menu item. and I want to pass the menu item from calling feature in json like below:
if I want to click on Account menu
* call read(menuItem.feature) {menuItem: Account}
menuItem.feature looks something like below:
Given url 'xyz'
And input (username, userID)
And input (password, password)
And click("button[name=login]")
And click("a[name=Home]")
Here I want to make Home as dynamic in last click step on menuItem.feature so that I can pass other menu items and reuse all above steps/feature file to login everytime with different menu items passed from calling feature file in json{.
Again its just a query. I have currently written multiple scenarios to click on menu item and then in calling feature I call the called feature with tags like #Home,#account etc. and this works perfectly fine.
Also if there is any other better way to achieve this then please suggest
Yes. Let me put it this way, the things you see such as input('foo', 'bar') is pure JS behind the scenes. So normal programming-language rules apply. For example:
* def dynamic = 'foo'
* def locator = 'a[name=' + dynamic + ']'
* input(locator, 'some value')

How to Identify Elements in Salesforce Lightning for Selenium

I am trying to automate Salesforce lightning using Selenium, but getting issues with identifying elements. Reason, its having dynamic IDs , and other attributes are either very long , or they are not unique.
For eg ,
<a id="170:1968;a" class="textUnderline outputLookupLink slds-truncate forceOutputLookup"
data-refid="recordId"
data-recordid="0059E000001aOCSQA2"
data-special-link="true"
href="#/sObject/0059E000001aOCSQA2/view"
target="_blank" rel="noreferrer"
title="" data-aura-rendered-by="170:1968;a" data-aura-class="forceOutputLookup"/>
In above code , ID is dynamic , Class is not unique, and all the Lookup elements are associated with it. Also the absolute path is not much trusted , and hence I am trying to find any concrete option to handle these elements. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Here, you could try using the contains method if at least a part of the id attribute value is static.
From your code, you could try
//a[contains(#id,"a")]/ //--extended xpath--
From the given html code, the 'a' in the id attribute of the a tag looks static, while the rest changes.
You can ask the developers to provide an id to the lightning component using aura:id
Then the dynamic id won't be generated.
You can try with field labels and fetch its parent node(s), and then fetching childs or brother nodes to locate related texts/text boxes etc.
Eg. You are in Account Edit/New page, and you want to fill in a value to the text box for Account Name field. So you can firstly try with //*[text()='Account Name']/parent::* to find an element that covers BOTH the field label and the text box.
And then you can check if the text box is a 'brother' or a 'child'. If it's a 'child' then try with //*[text()='Account Name']/parent::*(/parent::*)//*[attributes for the text box];
If it's 'brothers' then try with //*[text()='Account Name']/parent::*(/parent::*)/following-sibling::*[attributes for the text box]
You can use this logic to locate all type of fields in all standard lightning pages.

selenium (phpunit) click on drop down link

I want be able click on link from drop down using selenium with phpunit. I don't have any idea how make it happens, can anyone show me example or relevant tutorial, post or anything that can help me figure out.
when I try click on the element without put mouse over the drop down I got this error:
Element is not currently visible and so may not be interact with command ....
Thanks.
EDIT:
when I said "drop down" I don't mean regular select. it more like popup
you can see the example here:
http://investing.com
look how they build the menu I want be able click on 'Technical' -> 'Fibonacci Calculator' for example.
Check this post out:
Selenium: How to select an option from a select menu?
You can find more info about this here
select(selectLocator, optionLocator)
Arguments:
selectLocator - an element locator identifying a drop-down menu
optionLocator - an option locator (a label by default)
Select an option from a drop-down using an option locator.
Option locators provide different ways of specifying options of an HTML Select element (e.g. for selecting a specific option, or for asserting that the selected option satisfies a specification). There are several forms of Select Option Locator.
label=labelPattern: matches options based on their labels, i.e. the visible text. (This is the default.)
label=regexp:^[Oo]ther
value=valuePattern: matches options based on their values.
value=other
id=id: matches options based on their ids.
id=option1
index=index: matches an option based on its index (offset from zero).
index=2
If no option locator prefix is provided, the default behaviour is to match on label.

What I use:
$search13 = $this->webDriver->findElement(WebDriverBy::id('id_of_dropdown_field'));
$search13->click(); // Clicking on the dropdownfield
$this->webDriver->getKeyboard()->pressKey('ARROW_DOWN'); // Will go down in your dropdown selection )
sleep(1);
$this->webDriver->getKeyboard()->pressKey('ENTER'); // Enter for submitting your selection
EDIT:
http://www.anitpatel.net/2012/02/25/selenium-webdriver-how-to-click-on-a-hidden-link-or-menu/
This one explains it in java but basically what he does is a mouse over/hover and wait.
Then he clicks on the element.
I'm not a java genius but it's an example how to work with it.
You can use the:
string mouseOver(string $locator)
This simulates a user hovering a mouse over the specified element.
http://docs.tadiavo.com/phpunit/www.phpunit.de/pocket_guide/3.1/en/selenium.html
Check if the element is visible using the xpath of the required option value.
$this->isElementPresent($xpath);
$this->click($xpath);
If it is true, then click() method selects the specified option.

OpenErp: Update form fields

I would like to update form fields "on-fly" after button press that triggers python function.
Something like onchange that allows to return field values, but I need to do it after button press.
The situation is, to create module, that will allow to search for company information in public company register based on entered company registration ID.
The best would be, to show up some popup window with updated fields list and user has to confirm, wether to update fields values or not.
Thank you.
You can create a wizard (osv.osv_memory class) to simulate a dynamic popup window.
To populate this wizard, you can use the returned action descriptor of your python function, like this :
return {'res_model':'your.osv.memory',
'view_mode':'form',
'view_type':'form',
'target':'new',
'context':{...},
}
Thanks to your algorythm that get public company information, you just have to put you're fields values on the context, like you would do in a write() method.
Override your default_get() method of your osv_memory, which receives your context, and populate your wizard like you want.
I think a simple text fields on your wizard will be efficient to display fields updated values, and 2 buttons : cancel and OK (which will call the write method to apply fields values, always using your context).

How to create Struts Drop down List?

I m new to struts.
I Want to add drop down in web page.That drop down should contain four values. The default and first value will be (Select).
I want to persist the selected value, when that form is opened again and while submitting, if user doesn't select any value from drop down (meaning the default value is present) I want to give an alert to the user and then not to allow a submit until till the user selects an option from the dropdown.
There is one action.java, form.java, javascript file and jsp file. In action.java, I m suppose to use ArrayList to hold different drop down values. How this can be done. please help me.
<s:select list="#{'':'Select', 'key1':'Value 1', 'key2':'Value 2'}" key="selectedValue"></s:select>
or you have a list object(id, value)
<s:select key="selectedValue" list="yourlists" headerKey="" headerValue="Select" listKey="id" listValue="value"/>
Firstly, you need to show your code here. If you are interested in tutorials then I'd suggest - VaanNila, a great place to learn struts framework. (Here is a link of select tag.)
