Adobe Flex/Flash Builder 4 question. I have a flex app built on AIR version 2.02 and sdk 3.3
now updating to sdk 4.0 and AIR version 3.0
the ApplicationUpdater section does not display anything with AIR version 3.0, but it does with AIR version 2.2
both using sdk 4.0 for the flashbuilder code.
anyone seen this and found an answer?
thanks
Dave

If I build my app deployment target set to 7.0 will it be compatible with iOS versions up to 10 for adhoc testing.
I am developing an application with DirectX11 on Windows 7 environment with DirectX SDK (June 2010). Windows 8 and 8.1 come with Windows SDK (which includes DirectX SDK). I found out that some of the header files from DirectX SDK are not included in Windows SDK. (D3DX11Core.h, D3DX11.h, etc)
My questions are:
Will my application run on Windows 8 & 8.1 environment?
Backward compatibility on Windows 8 and 8.1 for DirectX 11 or DirectX 10
What if my application uses deprecated header file (eg D3DX11.h), will it work on windows 8
This is my current working envrionment
OS = Windows 7
DirectX = DirectX SDK (June 2010)
DirectX 11 with Direct3D 11
Windows Kits (Installed with Visual Studio)
D3DX is deprecated since the inclusion of DirectX in the Windows SDK done first with the Windows kits 8 shipped with VS2012.
An application built with the June 2010 SDK and D3DX will of course work on all windows with the proper redist.
Still, the DirectX June 2010 sdk is deprecated for years, you miss some revised API that are useful to write Windows Apps for the Metro interface and mixing the two will give you conflicts and a strong headache.
Direct3D 11 Win32 desktop applications will run on Windows 8.x assuming you install the required Visual C++ REDIST. If you are using the legacy components in the DirectX SDK such as D3DX, D3DCompiler #43, XAudio 2.7, XInput 1.3, or XACT you need to also run the DirectX End-User Runtime REDIST. Note that there are some known issues with the DirectX REDIST which have been addressed after the DXSDK (June 2010) release. See this blog post.
If you want to build with VS 2012/2013 and the legacy DirectX SDK, you can. You just need to reverse the include/lib paths order per the instructions non MSDN.
Also, if you are using D3DX11 there are lots of options to replacing it without picking up additional DLL dependencies.
I was googling around in this question a bit and found only 8.0 to 8.1 answers. Is this because retargeted projects (8.1) can be downloaded and used in 8.0 windows, or because it is impossible to do?
How can I make a 8.0 version of an app that's project was retargeted to 8.1? Am I to have another project for 8.0 too and create two packages?
No it is not possible , as the app which is re-targeted for 8.1 would not be compatible with the versions below 8.1 . You'll have to create another package for 8.0 but yes that would be compatible with 8.1 :) .
Initially i developed my windows phone app with version 7.1 but later i upgraded it to target the version 8.0 .
Now my doubt is that will my app work in windows phone 7.1 version??
Thank You in Advance!
No it won't. Keep it in 7.1 if you don't make use of any special features available only in 8.0. Or maintain two project version as explained in Nokia Developer Community Wiki if you need some feature in 8.0 platform but want to keep support for 7.1. You can submit two .XAP version -for WP 8.0 and 7.1- for one application in Windows Phone Marketplace.
You cannot convert a windows phone 8 app to Windows Phone 7.1, but you can target both versions. Details on how the whole process works can be found here.
Hy,
if you have upgraded to 8.0 WindowsPhoone you can no longer perform in WindowsPhone downgrade to 7.1, my advice if you want to continue to develop for both operating systems keep 2 copies of the project
I have Flash Buider 4.5 Standard licence, and I would like to know if I can use my serial number with the newest version of FB (4.7)?
Per Adobe Flash Builder product page:
How do I get Flash Builder 4.7 if I already have Flash Builder 4.5?
Existing Flash Builder 4.5 customers will not be prompted to upgrade
automatically. Flash Builder 4.5 customers can download the trial
version of Flash Builder 4.7 and request a Flash Builder 4.7 serial key.
Flash Builder 4.7 is a complimentary update from version 4.5.
Historically premium versions of Flash Builder and AIR for iOS could be installed as a complimentary update. With Creative Suite, awkwardly uninstalling the old version then installing the new product as a trial to enable the Adobe Application Manager to register the license. As a standalone product, I believe Flash Builder 4.6 accepted a Flash Builder 4.5 serial key.
With Flash Builder 4.7, you need to request a serial key.
