How do you dynamically change the navGrid toolbar icons in jqgrid? - dynamic

I currently have a a pretty standard jqgrid that I would like to change the navGrid icons dynamically. The grid shows some standard data with limited navGrid icons (like search) but if you log in to the site it will allow you do add, edit, etc. So I would like to turn on/off certain icons under certain situations. I have not been able to find any way to do this.

Look at the demo which I made for the answer. Another demo from the answer shows one how to disable/enable buttons from the navigator bar instead of show/hide there. I think it's what you can do.

One custom toolbar for multiple layouts in FileMaker Pro

I have a complex Filemaker database with multiple tables and layouts. What I would like to do is to add a toolbar to each layout. This, of course in view of maintainability of my database solution.
Of course, I could create a nice row of buttons (for example in the header of the layout) and copy past this to each separate layout. However, this is not really a great solution from a maintenance pont of view (if you want to change something you need to do so multiple times).
So... is there another way?
I am looking for something similar to e.g., include in php:
<?php
include 'header.php';
?>
Is there such a thing?
Not really. It could be achieved, mostly, with a bit of extra work. There is nothing out of the box, although you might find some samples on the web.
The closest thing in FileMaker is button bar with styles. Even this will not auto-update by default across different layouts.
You can use a webviewer based on a global field.
Another solution for older versionsis to use a portal with records creating buttons and a script which will do staff depending in which row button is clicked.
I am using a Navigation Window which may be recalled by either a push button which should be on each layout (you have not to change it because it only recall the Navigation Window) and/or a Script (I use to put it at the first place, as CMD-1).
Of course, you need to manage that the Navigation Window has to be closed before the navigation and execution of the Script managed by your Toolbar while, at the other side, you may add every other navigation need ;-)

How do I create expandable lists on Appcelerator Titanium?

Is there any way to create expandable lists on Titanium? I want the ListItem to expand and show extra info when the user clicks on a dropdown icon, just like in the image below:
I'm not sure if this can be achieved in Titanium.
This should not be a Titanium specific question because there are multiple ways to create such a list in any platform, be it Titanium, native Android/iOS or any other platform.
It depends on you which way you prefer. Using ListView, you can simply create a ListView & add ListItems or child-views in a ListItem upon clicking a parent list-item, and do vice-versa on deleting or hiding the content.
You will need to take care about the clicking events when to add/when to delete or hide the content, though it will require lot of coding but it will be worth doing so because then you can understand how things behind the scenes work. It's time taking to provide you a code-base here, so I suggest you to start working on to create this feature or you can take a look here at this sample code - Expandable ListView

Removing tabs in tabcontrol and using designated buttons to switch between tabs

I'm currently working on an application for Windows, however, I have one small problem: I can't seem to figure this one out...
Is there a way to remove the tab headers from tab control and designate other buttons to switch between tabs? I'm going for a more modern look and the default tabs in tab control are not at all what I'm interested in.
thanks for your answers on this question!
I've just thought of a different method to keep the clean look of my program without having to get too complicated with code.
For anyone wondering about this, you could set different buttons to hide and show different things, for example:
Under homeBtn you could have code that shows the information shown on the page by default, yet at the same time, you could also hide any information from the previous tab.
Thanks, Laugh
You can easily add buttons setting the property SelectedIndex on the tab control to switch the pages. To hide the tab headers, there are some ideas over here.

Menu bar button panels in Cocoa?

When I click on buttons in the menu bar (such as "About Program") when the program is running a new window pops up displaying information. How do I edit the windows associated with the buttons?
In Interface builder I manage to load "Main Menu" which allows me to customize the menu bar, but it doesn't allow me to work with the windows associated with the buttons. How would I edit these windows?
Mac OSX Snow Leopard, Xcode 3.2.6
EDIT: I am not specifically asking for steps for the "About Panel". I am looking for a general procedure for editing panels associated with buttons in the menu bar. In addition to the "About" panel I would also want to work with panels such as the "Help" panel. The "About" panel was just an example.
The standard About panel isn't in your nib; it's generated within the framework.
You can change the text of the panel by writing a Credits.rtf or Credits.html file and including that in your app bundle. (You may already have Credits.rtf supplied by the project template. If so, you should just edit that.)
If you want to make more radical changes, you'll need to create your own panel and change your About menu item to show it instead.
As far as a general procedure...no, there's no single procedure that would let you customize any standard panel in the same way. They all have their own mechanisms (e.g. some can display more panes when plug-in components are installed; some provide APIs to hide or show certain parts; some, like the About box, use bundle filename conventions to decide what to do).
For the Help panel specifically...you can't change anything about it except the web page (i.e. the help content). The toolbar, etc. is all handled by Apple. I suggest looking at this documentation for more, which also links to other important documents:

Suggestion for dragster/dropzone like dock menu

I'd like to create a dragster/dropzone like dock menu. Looks a bit like a stack with a nsview in it.
After a lot if documentation searching and googling I've found a way to determine a dock icon's location.
(http://cocoadev.com/forums/comments.php?DiscussionID=1431)
Is nzbdrop creating a view which just looks like an stack to display it's menu or is there a better way of creating this?
Additional info:
I'm not looking for the drop like functionality just the nice way the DropBox window is displayed as an bubble/stack menu on top of it's app icon.
For anyone wanting to create something similar;
Matt Gemmell created a nice solution for this called MAAttachedWindow:

Not exactly sure I understand your question but the Dragster and Dropzone apps clearly work something like this:
They have an application icon in the dock.
They respond to a drop request in the standard fashion.
Upon receiving a drop request, they open an application window above the dock which also accepts a drop request.
According to the link you provided, they use the accessibility API to locate their dock icon so they can open the application window above the dock icon.
The window is just a standard application window although most likely modal and floating (like a help window.) It can have any appearance you wish.
