I'm trying to show something else than the program title in the title bar but so far it's not working. I've tried:
SET TITLEBAR 'title001'.
When I double click title001 I can create this object and save it but it still doesn't change the title. Do I have to activate it somewhere or is there a step I'm missing?
Make sure that you call the SET TITLEBAR function in a module that is called from the PBO of your screen.
Make sure that title001 is active. You can check that by loading your module program in SE80, it should display everything that is used in the program in the tree to the right.

I want to make a desktop item manager program using vb.net.
I hope to create a form there and use the menus etc. to make the desktop icons work.
You want to set the form to always be behind the other windows. Like a widget.
How to do this?
I want to write an extension and before really getting into it, I was wondering if there is a way to add a clickable icon with a handlable callback on the main text editor window, next to language elements, for example, right side of function names or variables?
For example, in the attached picture, the green button is rightmost of the window to the function name run(), I want something like that, that the user can click on it. So, anywhere there is a function definition, I could have a button next to that just like the image?
In my application when it is iconized in the system tray, and through a ContextMenuStrip1 displays a context menu and when I click the icon I can choose what to display; the application, close it etc.
Now, when the mouse is over the icon I would like to show a tooltip (property that unfortunately does not have, but that have the individual menu items), it always shows me the name of the menu object: ContextMenuStrip1, even in its text property set something else.
Since at some times the app makes updates in background I would like to show under the icon a small progressbar as do some application. How is this possible in vb.net? (I'm using VB2012)
Thank you all.
I resolved you need to use the Text property of the notifyIcon object.
So theres a few questions on this but they all give the same answer Me.Hide() which "works" if you count that when it loads, It will SHOW but then will hide seconds after which makes a weird Shadow-y-Laggy Effect.
Example:
(The small Window that shows and almost instantly hides is the window im trying to NEVER show)
Is there a way to actually hide the WHOLE form upon load? I know of the whole VisibilityCore method but with that I cant find a way to show it again at a later point.
So is there a way to hide it so it NEVER shows unless I tell it to Show?
Currently im using "Hide() combined with Form.Show Method".
If you set the form's Opacity property to 0 (through the Property Window) you shouldn't have this problem.
When you want to show the form (if it's going to be shown at all) just set the opacity back to 1.0.
Opacity is still a hack. The correct way is to not show it at all, versus making it invisible. To do this, don't make it the "Startup Object" at all.
On the Application tab of the Project Properties screen, there is a Startup Object setting. Create a Module with a Sub Main() and make that the entry point of your app by selecting it as the Startup Object instead of that little form that apparently doesn't do anything visual.
Maybe you have some initialization code in that starting form...move that to Sub Main.
you can minimize the form upon application launch.
[STAThread]
static void Main()
{
Application.EnableVisualStyles();
Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false);
Form fm = new Form1();
fm.WindowState = FormWindowState.Minimized;
Application.Run(fm);
}
I have this VB.Net 1.1 project that I have to make some changes to. There is a flag in the App.config file. If it is false, the page just loads a splash screen and runs the program normally. If it is true it first opens a login window.
VB.Net is not something I've ever worked with before. I can't for the life of me figure out where the logic for the picking the startup object is. In the property pages, Main.vb is always set as the startup object, but that's not even the window that loads up when the flag is false, it always comes after the splash screen.
I've search all through the code for any reference to creating a new instance of the login window to display it but can't find it. I've searched for where it checks what the flag is set to, but anything I've found for that is not in reference to loading the login window.
Any ideas?
What is the name of the login window class? You could either do a search in the entire solution to find all occurences of that name (e.g. by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F) or place the cursor on the class name and press Shift+F12. The latter will find all references of the login window class. In the search result window now look for new MyLoginWindow to see where it is instantiated.
From that location on you can use the same method again to find the callees and possibly the place in the code where the config flag is checked (Or you could place a breakpoint, debug and walk up the call stack to see where you are coming from - that could be easier).
