I've been trying to attach code to the StretchingBottom event of a LongListSelector with no success. This is the definition in XAML

This enables the visual state groups for Compression, so you can detect the Compression that appeares if the list is scrolled to an end. You want CompressionBottom as this happenes when the List is scrolled to the bottom.
Now I attach a handler to the LongListSelector.Loaded event and inside attach a handler to the ScrollViewer.State

I'd like to have the DatePicker prompt the user with a different message than "Select a date" for my DatePicker. Preferably I'd have a resx entry that would determine the value displayed, so is there a property of the DatePicker I can set to display a different opening message? I can deal with the resx portion of the problem myself, I just need help figuring out what property to set.
I've tried using datepicker.Text = "Enter a date", just as a test, but it does not display the string.

To display the value of a resource that is defined in a .resx file, you can set the Text property of the TextBlock using the x:Static markup extension like this where "AppResources" is the name of the .resx file and "HelloWorld" is the name of the string resource in the file:

I'm facing an issue that I can't solve. I have a ListView and I need to customize item style when the user drag an object over the list view item. Due to the complexity of my states, I don't want to keep the ListViewItemPresenter of the extended ListViewItem style. So when i remove that presenter and define my own style (basically a classic content presenter + overlay + underlay + VisualStateGroups to define animations), I don't recieve the DragOver and Drop event anymore on my list item objects. I don't understand why ? If i keep the default item container style it works fine... What did i miss?

I could reproduce your issue, but I don't know the reason that caused this issue. I will continue to study this issue. Currently, there is a workaround for you. I found you want to modify the color of underlay overlay Rectangle. You could realize this in the code behind rather than in xaml with Visualtreehelper.

You could use VisualTreeHelper to get underlay overlay Rectangle instance then create animation for them. You could invoke those animation manually in ListViewItem event handler that match xaml VisualStateGroup.
I have an existing Pivot header template I am using, but it is not giving me the effect I need. I need the currently selected PivotItem to have a blue foreground and white background, while all other pivot items have a standard disabled foreground and background look. Then you can animate the Foreground. Here's a screenshot of the above code. With Selected Color = Blue and Unselected Color = Green. You will need to add back in your background animation though.
#Teysz, I think that with Windows 10 UWP you better start from the default style for PivotItemHeader and make a copy of that in the ..Resources section of your XAML file. The default style cannot be inserted by Visual Studio 2015 so you have to get it yourself from:

I have the following ListBox below. I am not sure how to change the Foreground of a selected item's textblock text when an item is selected, and then back to the original foreground color when an item is unselected (most likely occurring when another item in the ListBox is selected afterwards)?

You have to edit ItemContainerStyle (Edit additional templates > Edit generated Item Container (ItemContainerStyle)).

Make sure you extend your class test.cs with INotifyPropertyChanged and define the property foreground with the same or else dynamic changes will not be reflected.

Also note that if you want the textblock to change color to green on one tap and then change its color again by tapping again, SelectionChanged event won't work, because it works only when a different item is selected. So if you want change of color on consecutive taps then use Tap event instead

This question has been asked before but in most cases no more recent than 2 years ago and often specific to WPF. The answer might still be there same, but here it goes. I'm trying to build a triangular (arrow) button that changes color and grows in size when the mouse is over it. I've got that working for a single button. But now I need buttons with the arrow pointing different directions. I want to reuse as much of the code as possible. Without using a custom button control, I couldn't think of a way to use the same style completely, so I'm trying to just reuse the mouse over animation by making it a resource. When I reference the Storyboard as a StaticResource in the VisualStateManager of my button template, it makes my button disappear completely. Why doesn't this work?
