Tools to monitor performance on ActiveMQ - apache

I am a looking for proven tools to monitor performance on ActiveMQ 5.5. I come from an environment which used Glassfish and JMQ that can tell me rate of messages produced and consumed on any given destination using "imqcmd". Is there a like tool for ActiveMQ or a different way to go about it?
I see that there is a project at http://activemq.apache.org/activemq-performance-module-users-manual.html that will do some sort of performance reporting but it seems to be no more than a SNAPSHOT version that I cannot get to operate.
Any input would be appreciated.

here are my notes on this...I opted to go with JMX and built a simple web app (JSP, jQuery, Google Charts, etc) to interface with JMX to gather queue stats, manage queues, etc...

Monitoring Yarn/Cloudera application logs in production

I am NOT talking about Cloudera or Yarn system level logs. I am talking about applications running on Cloudera/Yarn infrastructure.
We have tens of Java and Python applications running on our Cloudera Infra, and all of them generate application logs. I am looking for the best way to monitor these logs for any errors and warnings. If it is a pure stand alone Java application, traditionally we can use one of these log scraper tools that send emails based on an expression matching (to detect error/warning/any other special situation). I am looking for something similar, that can monitor our application logs and emails us in real time for better production application support.
If thinking about this like a traditional application log monitoring is not the right way, then I am happy to know if there are any better industry standard approaches. Thanks!
I guess the ElasticStack (https://www.elastic.co/de/) could be one approach to solve this. You could use FileBeats to send your application logs to Logstash which forwards it to ElasticSearch. You could then create a Watcher in Kibana which sends i.e. Emails based on some triggering condition (we use a webhook to send notifications into a MS Teams channel).
This solution should work at least in near-realtime (~1-2 minutes delay, but this also depends on your watcher configuration).

Embedded BrokerService vs installed ActiveMQ broker

I would like to know are there feature wise same or different? Could you also mention any pros and cons about both of these? Also please mention real-world use case for both Embedded BrokerService vs installed ActiveMQ broker. Thanks in advance!
ActiveMQ is just a Java application, and the embedded version offers essentially the same features as the stand-alone version. In fact, you can configure an embedded broker to take its configuration from an XML file, in which case it will look very similar to the stand-alone broker.
Embedding a broker is a reasonable thing to do if you need the benefit of programmatic configuration; that is, you want to configure things according to rules which are hard to implement in an XML file. It also makes sense if you want close-coupled operation between the broker and the application components, with message data being passed in memory. This might be the situation if you're using JMS as an inter-module communication mechanism within the application.
Embedding a broker has the disadvantage -- and it can be a profound one -- of making it difficult to disentangle problems in the broker from problems in your application. Figuring out the cause of, say, runaway memory consumption could be very difficult. You can get commercial support for ActiveMQ, should you need it, but it will be hard for any commercial organization to support a hybrid broker+application installation.

Benchmarking Rabbitmq Tool

I have multiple components connected with RabbitMQ. Some are producers and consumers. I need to benchmark/load test my system. I need to ensure that the consumers can handle N messages/second. I've done some searching on the internet but haven't really found anything. Does anyone have any experience with benchmarking RabbitMQ? Ideally I'd like to just spam the network with messages without having to create a new producer.
Do you know the tool JMeter? With this tool you can simply simulate a heavy load on a server. I use it normaly for web applications, but i saw a JMeter-RabbitMQ-plugin to test AMQP message broker like RabbitMQ with JMeter. I think you should have a look on it.
If you have a web application in the front of RabbitMQ, then you can also test directly this application with JMeter.

Embedded or an External ActiveMQ Broker with Glassfish

This would be my first time using ActiveMQ (instead of the out-of-the-box OpenMQ in GF) and I am trying to determine which approach is better in terms of scaling and maintaining an ActiveMQ environment. We do have experience in setting up and maintaining Glassfish clusters and deploy applications to it. But we are contemplating on what approach is better as we don't want to go down a rabbit hole that we can't get out of because we built environments around it and seeing towards the end that the infrastructure we had setup wouldn't scale.
Has anybody tried using both approaches? Even if anybody implemented one of the approaches with Glassfish, telling us their experience (gains and pains) would be very helpful and appreciated.
For 99% of cases, it's usually better to deploy a standalone broker - this way you're treating your messaging as just another layer of the infrastructure, much like a database. When a broker is standalone, you can set it up as highly available, upgrade it at will without modifying your applications (a broker can be upgraded without upgrading the client libraries), and can scale it out as appropriate later on if you need to (most projects don't).
I have seen people deploy brokers as embedded, with a convoluted network of brokers to get all the boxes in a cluster talking to each other. This usually ends in tears and reverting back to a separate master-slave pair of brokers. Which is all they needed all along.

What is the best alternative way of monitoring apache Active MQ other than using JMX API

I have tried and tested the JMX API and it is pretty simple to use and provides a vast number of statistics required for monitoring ActiveMQ.
But the problem is, i dont want to monitor my ActiveMQ remotely and also i dont want to use another API.To be more precise, i want to use the JMS API itself to get statistics related to various destinations and the broker itself.
Advisory messages seem to be an alternative but they provide limited Amount of Administrative Messages to monitor.
Any input is highly appreciated...
There is no built-in support for this. But you can implement a JMS topic which publishes the monitoring data every few seconds. Make the connection non-persistent so that it doesn't pile up when there are no listeners or when they loose connection.
Now you can write a client that connects to this topic and it will receive updates.
AMQ-2379 resulted in a broker plugin for grabbing statistics from destinations by sending a simple JMS message. Check out the docs that show how to use it here:
