I've been trying to submit my app to the mac app store and I've been trying to figure out how to solve this issue:
Files Only Readable By The Root User - The installer package includes files that are only readable by the root user. This will prevent verification of the application's code signature when your app is run. Ensure that non-root users can read the files in your app.
I haven't been able to fix this problem for a while and does anyone have a solution?
In my case, none of the files were owned by root, but one had no read permissions for group and everyone, but only for my user. I found this by using this cmd in Terminal:
ls -lR /path/to/app
I then searched for "-----" inside the output from the ls command, which found the problematic file.
I had the same problem, but my solution was to run:
cd myApp.app
chmod a+rX *
This fixes the permissions and makes the Application Loader happy.
I found the answer:
I deleted some files that weren't readable by the system, files that showed a white blank icon
For anyone who has been banging their head on this one my experience is the error is erroneous or at best very misleading.
After looking over all the permissions then dragging files in and out of the bundle to test Application Loader the error magically disappeared and the same files with the same permissions ceased to give the same error.
This really isn't a solution but it may be important to know that this error may not be what it seems (tested on 10.9.4).

After creating the project with react-native init, i found this issue in terminal as well as in xcode. After digging deep, i found that this particular file is showing missing in project node modules.
Here are example of error codes showing in xcode & terminal-
Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory,
/ios/Pods/../../node_modules/react-native/React/FBReactNativeSpec/../../Libraries/Vibration/NativeVibration.js
I've learned the hard way when programming in react native (for cross platform/hybrid application development), many unknown issues will be caused if you deviate from native OS clustering. Make sure you don't make the same mistakes as I have.
I have more specific help for you, apart from the obi wan style in my previously semi-answer.
Another guy had an issue with this a few years back, he asked and was answered,"delete your node_modules and app from simulator. Then re-install everything back, clear cache and see if it start bundler from root directory.
Before doing that, you can try 'react-native start' from your root directory.
I have seen that error message a lot, specifically with jest. But that's a different fix. I realize you are not using jest to test your reactjs, but it is jest tests runner that is the problem that causes the same outcome as you have come to- solution there is to disable the jest runner from running in the background while installing new packages.
I wonder if there isn't a similar solution here - only applicable to xcode - although you see it in terminal, that's probably just the cmdline not recognizing the path to the directory or at least that file.
Should be easy to figure out with terminal--
Go to $HOME~ type dir or ls, to see your directory folders, if you see the project listed, cd into it or, just search for the directory apt-get search [package] or apt, pkg, pip, pacman, snap etc etc whatever your flavor if OS terminal is, or search for the file-- $find / -iname [query] or even search for all paths containing the phrase: $locate [query]... If you created it, it exists. Just because xcode can't find it, and initial attempts in term produced nada, don't believe it is not in your system. just a matter of where, what, and why a process or dependancy is missing or malfunctioning in attempt to retrieve the file & open it.
You can definitely find it - i don't know jack about xcode, but terminal -- I can get anything from anywhere on cmdline-- you can too. I have to go, but I'm curious if you have figured it out. Let us know yeah? Best of luck to you. Cheers QwaziRidwanhasib.

Total Linux noob here. I am trying to configure a Pleroma development environment on DO droplet. Installed LEMP, installed SSL, installed PostgreSQL, installed Pleroma, so far so good.
Then I installed Node, NPM, cloned Pleroma-FE (apparently it installs in /user/pleroma-fe folder). I am following the very brief build instructions here:
https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma-fe
When I get to the command in those build instructions: npm run build
I am getting error: Error: Cannot find module '/user/build/build.js'
It's because actual path to the build file is /user/pleroma-fe/build/build.js
Apologies if this is a duplicate. I see other questions about this.
Fixing npm path in Windows 8 and 10
and the reply seems to set the PATH. This answer might apply to my situation. But my question is: it is clearly already looking in a well defined path (which is different from all the other questions, which don't seem to have well defined path in the error message). But it is the wrong path. How do I make it look in the correct path?
I tried the npm command and specified the complete path, and every variation. and none worked. So it seems fixing the path won't fix this problem.
Sorry I do not currently know enough Linux to be able to fix this. I tried to tag this with Pleroma but I don't have enough reputation to create a new tag. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I continued to work on this with some help of a Linux admin on Fiverr and the Pleroma developers chat with success, thanks to all.
The solution did not involve changing the path. There were several different things going on. First, I needed to change directory into the development project source folder:
cd pleroma-fe
Once I did that, npm found the build module. Next issue was Node was very old and I needed to get the latest version. I used the instruction here for NodeJS (10):
https://nodejs.org/en/download/package-manager/#debian-and-ubuntu-based-linux-distributions
Next issue was npm was missing some modules. This was fixed with:
npm install
After that the build completed with no errors.
npm run build
After a successful build, you will see a list of files that have changed as a result of the build.
Next issue is that simple changes in HTML text were not live, ie. not reflected in the refreshed web page. This is fixed by copying all the resulting build files to the production folder using rsync. In my case the command was:
rsync -av /user/pleroma-fe/dist/ /home/pleroma/pleroma/priv/static/
Pleroma is a neat Twitter-like user interface to ActivityPub fediverse, it includes a Mastodon UI as well, and thanks to the developers for making it free and open source.
In my cocoa application, i am using one plist file(preference.plist) to save the preference inside the app bundle. I am using package maker to pack my app(Business requirement). For that, i will build my app and export as a Developer ID-Signed application. If i check the sharing and permission info of my app, it will show like this
In my local system, i can write on this preference.plist file with this user permission. If i install the same in my client machine, it shows fetching for all the time.
In this case, i can't write in preference.plist file. Don’t know why this strange behaviour occurs for my app. Hope the above scenes will explain my problem. Please provide the solution to accomplish this issue.
You should not store writable files in your app bundle, especially if you then intend to sign the bundle.
If you cannot store your preferences in your apps user defaults then your app should create a directory to hold its files, usually named after its bundle ID, in user or system Application Support directory - you can find its URL using URLsForDirectory requesting NSApplictionSupportDirectory.
Doing the above should solve your permissions problem (and work correctly if sandboxed).

Yes, i got a reference from this link
When copying a file between one system and another, occasionally both the permissions and owner for the files will be incorrect. You may need to change the owner of the file because the file is unable to be edited by the user due to permissions issues.
We’ll rely on the “chown” command to change the owner of a specified group of files, right from the command line.
chown command:
sudo chown -Rv $USER /Applications/TEST.app
This command works fine. Now in permission area, its not showing "fetching". I have included this command in package maker post script.
I've created an iOS 4.3 iPhone app in Xcode 4. When I use the Application Loader, I get this error:
Unable to create configuration directory:
/Users/myusername/.itmstransporter
I'm not sure it is permissions but believe it most likely is. Any ideas how to resolve it?
It seems similar to What does "The dwarfdump binary must exist and must be executable" mean?, which I ran
sudo ln -s /Developer/usr/bin/dwarfdump /usr/bin/
and resolved that issue.
VanceG's answer got me to a solution, which was to change the permissions on my /Users/myusername folder to allow writing (the link he refers to does the same for the /Users/Shared folder which not surprisingly didn't solve this error as the app is complaining about writing to my user folder).
In terminal sudo chmod 777 /Users/myusername (or chmod 1777 depending on version of OSX as discussed in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1277).
I had the same problem, and it turned out to be a problem with the Shared users folder, which also was causing problems with iTunes home sharing. For me, following these instructions fixed both problems: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1277
Hope it works for you too.
I have found some solutions to this error and tried implementing them but none of which has worked and hope that some here at SO might have a different answer.
I get this error, "Warning! Failed to move file" when I try install modules into my new installation of Joomla here:
http://sun-eng.sixfoot.co.za
Here's some solutions I have tried to no avail:
http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=199&t=223206
http://www.saibharadwaj.com/blog/2008/03/warning-failed-to-move-file-joomla-10x-joomla-15x/
Anyone know of another solution to this please?
Thanks!
Go to Help -> System Info in your administrator backend and check your Directory Permissions tab to make sure everything is writable.
Also make sure your Path to Temp Folder is correct in Site -> Global Configuration.
Finally, check to make sure that the module isn't already installed. It's possible that some files already got copied or something and now your system is having problems overwriting them.
If none of this works, let us know if the error message specifies which file can't be moved. That would help figure out a solution.
In the configuration folder change the temporal folder location to /tmp (public $tmp_path = '/tmp';) or create your own temperate folder and set it to /myowntemp and change the file permission to 777. you are good to go .
This is typically a file permissions issue. If the system cannot write to the tmp directory within Joomla it will give you the "Warning Failed To Move File" error.
The typical solution is to make the directory wide-open, in general a bad practice but a quick fix. You log in to the Linux command line via a terminal (telnet or ssh) session and set the permissions of the directory.
# chmod -R 777 ./tmp
The better option is to find out what user/group the Apache server is running as and assign the permissions accordingly. For example, if Apache is running your site as the myuser:nobody user:group then you can open up write permissions for the group by changing ownership of the tmp folder and making it writable by anyone in the group:
# chgrp -R nobody ./tmp
# chmod -R 775 ./tmp
Security can be a pain to get set correctly if you don't know *nix commands and security settings, so most people just blast a huge hole in the security with chmod 777.
The next thing you'll probably run into is another error message about not being able to update a specific directory. Again, this is a permissions issue and is typically a piece of the file being unzipped into the administrator subdirectory. Depending on whether your installing a component, a module, or a complex plugin with multiple pieces you may need to open up one or more of these directories using the same approach as above. Here is the "blow a big open hole in security" method:
# chmod -R 777 ./administrator/
Or more selectively:
# chmod -R 777 ./administrator/components/
# chmod -R 777 ./administrator/modules/
If you are a linux user then it is very simple to solve. Just type the following command and try again to install plugin/entension.
sudo chmod -R 777 /var/www/html/my_joomla_folder
You can also refer this link for brief information regarding permission of each folder and file.
Cheers!!
In Joomla 3.x you should go to System->System Information to see directory permissions
If one or more directories that are listed are not "writable" then you should change the permission of those directories:
If you are using one of Linux distributions you can use this command
to give the directories read/write/execute permission:
sudo chmod 777 -R address_of_lampp_directory/lampp/htdocs/joomla_directory
I have had a similar issue today and found is was the permissions set on the 'temp folder'. To resolve I changed them to 777 and my plugin installs worked fine!!
Another thing to check is whether you actually have space on the disk. I had this error and discovered that the drive was 100% full. Removing some unused files fixed the problem.
One other thing to try if everything else is not working is to add the following to your .htaccess file:
php_value upload_max_filesize 10M
Make sure 10M covers the size of the file you are uploading - increase it if your file is 12Mb, for instance.

This issue was solved like this.
On the configuration.php file change the tmp_path variable according to:
if you site is mysite.azurewebsites.net, the path should looks like
'C:\DWASFiles\Sites\mysite\VirtualDirectory0\site\wwwroot\tmp'
instead of
'C:\DWASFiles\Sites\mysite.azurewebsites.net\VirtualDirectory0\site\wwwroot\tmp'
Refer to the link: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsazurewebsitespreview/thread/2701eadc-9977-46ab-9c56-81a2234bdce4
I did it and every is working for every error problem with OSX, I use OSX version 10.9.2 and get many problems. The way to fix every error is
# cd /Applications
# chmod -R 777 ./XAMPP
some files might not change permission but the problem is gone.
you can create folder and upload fine and picture, including install plugin.
