I have a MAC OSX application in which I would like to press a button in the main window and open a new window in which a movie is played. This is my IBAction code;
- (IBAction) playButtonClicked: (id) sender
{
MoviePlayerController *moviePlayerWindow = [[MoviePlayerController alloc] initWithWindowNibName:#"MoviePlayer"];
[moviePlayerWindow showWindow:self];
NSError *error;
NSString *moviePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:#"sample_iTunes" ofType:#"mov"];
QTMovie *movie = [QTMovie movieWithFile:moviePath error:&error];
if (error) {
NSLog(#"%#", [error localizedDescription]);
} else {
[movie gotoBeginning];
[moviePlayerWindow.movieViewer setMovie:movie];
[moviePlayerWindow.movieViewer play:nil];
}
}
movieViewer is a QTMovieViewer outlet inside the new window.
The window opens but no movie is played; can someone understand what I am doing wrong ? I can send the complete project (it is a test one, very small) if needed.
Try changing NSError *error; to NSError *error = nil;

My iCloud Core Data app was running great on iOS7 and ready to launch. When I test on iOS 8 I get the following error and can't seem to fix it when trying to upload data to iCloud.
I suspect my problem is related to how I am getting the document directory and changes in the doc directory with iOS8 but I just can't figure this out..

my app delegate extension code where I create my persistent store is as follows. I have a seed database for first time installation.
- (NSPersistentStoreCoordinator *)createPersistentStoreCoordinator{
NSPersistentStoreCoordinator *persistentStoreCoordinator = nil;
NSManagedObjectModel *managedObjectModel = [self createManagedObjectModel];
persistentStoreCoordinator = [[NSPersistentStoreCoordinator alloc]initWithManagedObjectModel:managedObjectModel];
NSURL *storeURL = [[self applicationDocumentsDirectory] URLByAppendingPathComponent:#
"CoreData.sqlite"];
if (![[NSFileManager defaultManager]fileExistsAtPath:[storeURL path]]){
NSURL *preloadURL=[NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle]pathForResource:#"SeedDatabase" ofType:#
"sqlite"]];
NSError *error=nil;
if (![[NSFileManager defaultManager] copyItemAtURL:preloadURL toURL:storeURL error:&error]){
NSLog(#
"File couldnt save");
}
}
NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore *kvStore=[NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore defaultStore];
if (![kvStore boolForKey:#"SEEDED_DATA"]){
NSLog (#
"In the new database");
NSURL *seedStoreURL=[NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle]pathForResource:#"SeedDatabase" ofType:#
"sqlite"]];
NSError *seedStoreErrpr;
NSDictionary *seedStoreOptions=#{NSReadOnlyPersistentStoreOption: #YES};
NSPersistentStore *seedStore=[persistentStoreCoordinator addPersistentStoreWithType:NSSQLiteStoreType configuration:nil URL:seedStoreURL options:seedStoreOptions error:&seedStoreErrpr];
NSDictionary *iCloudOptions =#{NSPersistentStoreUbiquitousContentNameKey: #"iCloud",
NSMigratePersistentStoresAutomaticallyOption:#YES,
NSInferMappingModelAutomaticallyOption:#YES
};
NSOperationQueue *queue=[[NSOperationQueue alloc] init];
[queue addOperationWithBlock:^{
NSError *error;
[persistentStoreCoordinator migratePersistentStore:seedStore toURL:storeURL options:iCloudOptions withType:NSSQLiteStoreType error:&error];
NSLog(#
"Persistant store migrated");
[kvStore setBool:YES forKey:#
"SEEDED_DATA"];
// [self checkForDuplicates];
}];
}else{
NSError *error;
NSDictionary *storeOptions =#{NSPersistentStoreUbiquitousContentNameKey: #
"iCloud"
};
if (![persistentStoreCoordinator addPersistentStoreWithType:NSSQLiteStoreType
configuration:nil
URL:storeURL
options:storeOptions
error:&error]) {
NSLog(#
"Unresolved error %#, %#", error, [error userInfo]);
abort();
}
}
return persistentStoreCoordinator;
}
- (NSURL *)applicationDocumentsDirectory{
return [[[NSFileManager defaultManager] URLsForDirectory:NSDocumentDirectory inDomains:NSUserDomainMask] lastObject];
}
I was able to resolve this error by specifying the iCloud drive directory (Same name as the one on the developer.apple.com interface).
-(NSURL *)cloudDirectory
{
NSFileManager *fileManager=[NSFileManager defaultManager];
NSString *teamID=#"iCloud";
NSString *bundleID=[[NSBundle mainBundle]bundleIdentifier];
NSString *cloudRoot=[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%#.%#",teamID,bundleID];
NSURL *cloudRootURL=[fileManager URLForUbiquityContainerIdentifier:cloudRoot];
NSLog (#"cloudRootURL=%#",cloudRootURL);
return cloudRootURL;
}
and including it in the icloudOptions Dictionary as a NSPersistentStoreUbiquitousContentURLKey
NSDictionary *storeOptions =#{NSPersistentStoreUbiquitousContentNameKey: #"iCloud",
NSPersistentStoreUbiquitousContentURLKey:[self cloudDirectory],
};
I was getting some strange errors so I removed the app from all devices, deleted the iCloud drive file and re ran on an actual device and it worked fine. Not sure if it runs on IOS7 now but since I only specified the NSPersistentStoreUbiquitousContentURLKey I am pretty confident it should be fine.
I had the same issue during loading some test data.
For the load of the data I was deleting all records.
To avoid the exception a simple sleep(1) between cleaning and loading was enough.
I have a very simple app that I have built to test out AVAudioPlayer. I have a 16s aif file that plays just fine on my Mac. Put it in a simple app and ran on my iPhone but no sound. Sending 'play' to the object returns success and audioPlayerDidFinishPlaying comes back with success after 16 seconds. Still no sound. Have checked the sound volume on the iPhone, just fine. Have checked to make sure my AVAudioPlayer object has volume set at 1.0 - it does. Can anybody help?
Here's my code
NSString *soundPath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:#"Soothing" ofType:#"aif"];
NSURL *playURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:soundPath];
NSError *error;
self.myAudioPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:playURL error:&error];
NSLog(#"About to play sound");
self.myAudioPlayer.delegate = self;
[self.myAudioPlayer prepareToPlay];
bool success = [self.myAudioPlayer play];
if (!success) {
NSLog(#"Failed to play file");
} else NSLog(#"Looks like it succeded");
OK - got it figured out. I had not configured the AVAudioSession for my app. Did something very simple as follows (copied from Apple's example code):
[[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setDelegate: self];
NSError *setCategoryError = nil;
[[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setCategory: AVAudioSessionCategoryPlayback error: &setCategoryError];
if (setCategoryError)
NSLog(#"Error setting category! %#", setCategoryError);
Sound now plays - plus learned a lot about how to control playback through screen locks, etc., which will be valuable.
Did you check if you get anything from the error?
if(error) {
NSLog( #"%#", [error localizedDescription] );
}
I have a TabBarController with two tabs and I want to play music on both tabs. Right now I have my code on the main appDelegate
NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle]
pathForResource:#"My Song"
ofType:#"m4a"]]; // My Song.m4a
NSError *error;
self.audioPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc]
initWithContentsOfURL:url
error:&error];
if (error)
{
NSLog(#"Error in audioPlayer: %#",
[error localizedDescription]);
} else {
//audioPlayer.delegate = self;
[audioPlayer prepareToPlay];
}
but I'm getting the error Program received signal: "SIGABRT" on UIApplicationMain
Is there a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do? If this is how I should do it, where do I start checking for problems?
yes you can use AVAudioPlayer in App Delegate.
What you need to do is:-
In appDelegate.h file do:-
#import <AVFoundation/AVFoundation.h>
#import <AudioToolbox/AudioToolbox.h>
AVAudioPlayer *_backgroundMusicPlayer;
BOOL _backgroundMusicPlaying;
BOOL _backgroundMusicInterrupted;
UInt32 _otherMusicIsPlaying;
Make backgroundMusicPlayer property and sythesize it.
In appDelegate.m file do:-
Add these lines in did FinishLaunching method
NSError *setCategoryError = nil;
[[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setCategory:AVAudioSessionCategoryAmbient error:&setCategoryError];
// Create audio player with background music
NSString *backgroundMusicPath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:#"SplashScreen" ofType:#"wav"];
NSURL *backgroundMusicURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:backgroundMusicPath];
NSError *error;
_backgroundMusicPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:backgroundMusicURL error:&error];
[_backgroundMusicPlayer setDelegate:self]; // We need this so we can restart after interruptions
[_backgroundMusicPlayer setNumberOfLoops:-1]; // Negative number means loop forever
Now implement delegate methods
#pragma mark -
#pragma mark AVAudioPlayer delegate methods
- (void) audioPlayerBeginInterruption: (AVAudioPlayer *) player {
_backgroundMusicInterrupted = YES;
_backgroundMusicPlaying = NO;
}
- (void) audioPlayerEndInterruption: (AVAudioPlayer *) player {
if (_backgroundMusicInterrupted) {
[self tryPlayMusic];
_backgroundMusicInterrupted = NO;
}
}
- (void)tryPlayMusic {
// Check to see if iPod music is already playing
UInt32 propertySize = sizeof(_otherMusicIsPlaying);
AudioSessionGetProperty(kAudioSessionProperty_OtherAudioIsPlaying, &propertySize, &_otherMusicIsPlaying);
// Play the music if no other music is playing and we aren't playing already
if (_otherMusicIsPlaying != 1 && !_backgroundMusicPlaying) {
[_backgroundMusicPlayer prepareToPlay];
if (soundsEnabled==YES) {
[_backgroundMusicPlayer play];
_backgroundMusicPlaying = YES;
}
}
}
Hello
I have 16 sounds in a view. And they loops etc. I want a rect button where you tap it all the sounds stop.
Here is the code i used for one of the sounds, its the same for the rest.#
- (IBAction)twoSound:(id)sender; {
if (twoAudio && twoAudio.playing) {
[twoAudio stop];
[twoAudio release];
twoAudio = nil;
return;
}
NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:#"2" ofType:#"wav"];
if (twoAudio) [twoAudio release];
NSError *error = nil;
twoAudio = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:path] error:&error];
if (error)
NSLog(#"%#",[error localizedDescription]);
twoAudio.delegate = self;
[twoAudio play];
}
I tried
-(IBAction)goStop:(id)sender; {
[oneAudio, twoAudio, threeAudio, fourAudio, fiveAudio, sixAudio, sevenAudio, eightAudio, nineAudio, tenAudio, elevenAudio, twelveAudio, thirteenAudio, fourteenAudio, fifthteenAudio, sixteenAudio stop];
}
But that didnt work.
Thanks
I think you have to use an NSArray instead of many sound objects. So you can easily fill the array with the 12 sounds and then you can use a "for" cycle to stop them all.
