i have a web.config file that looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<configuration>
<system.web>
<compilation debug="true" strict="false" explicit="true" targetFramework="4.0"/>
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms name="dispatchBalancer">
<credentials passwordFormat="Clear">
<user name="dispatch" password="password"/>
</credentials>
</forms>
</authentication>
<authorization>
<deny users="?"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</configuration>
When ever i try to log into the site using a normal login control i keep getting the following error:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
The thing is i do not want to use a SQL DB to manage my users in this case. This is a very simple application and only 1 user will be needed. Do i need to specify somewhere to only look into web.config for user creds? if so how? Im using IIS7 .NET 4.0 to serve the page.
EDIT:
Here is the Stack Trace

Look at the connectionStrings section and ensure all SQL Server details are correct, in particular the Server section.
The error indicates that when trying to connect to SQL Server, the machine cannot locate the named server.

Problem:
I am very new to ASP.net core. I am trying to connect my application to the MySQL database. So I create connectionString as follows.
"ConnectionStrings": {
"DevConnection": "Server=server=127.0.0.1;uid=root;pwd=mypwd;database=PaymentDetailDB;"
}
And in the startup.cs class I add this line to the ConfigureServices method.
options.UseSqlServer(Configuration.GetConnectionString("DevConnection")));
Add-Migration "InitialCreate" was successfully run. But when I run `Update-Database` it gives me this issue.

Can someone help me with tissue? As I am very new to this.net I do not have any clue to find a solution to this one.Thank you
The SqlServerDbContextOptionsExtensions.UseSqlServer Method is used to configure the context to connect to a Microsoft SQL Server database, instead of MySQL database.
To connect with MySQL Database, you could install the MySql.Data package, then, use the MySqlConnection() method to open a connection to a MySQL Server database.

I am not sure what this means as the webconfig is present and I verified the connection strings are correct. I even pointed my dev environment at the DB to validate it is right. I am using the VS web publish feature. It looks like all files are installed to the right directory and in IIS the site is up.
Your error states it is using named pipes, named pipes is used when doing IPC (Inter Process Communication), set your SQL SERVER up for TCP/IP and make sure you have a connection string that works with that configuration.
You should check the DbContext and change DefaultConnection from name of conection you use.
public class UsersContext : DbContext
{
public UsersContext()
: base("MyDBContext")
{
}
}
I have classic asp.net website which works very well in VS but it gives an error when I'v deployed it on aspspider.com

I have also read on numerous posts about putting some tags in .webconfig or changing the user permission of the accounts. I have no Idea what this is all about.
I don't know what all information to share, please ask me for the information you want to know, I will share here.

I am using windows authentication to connect to my database.
Actually, the solution is right there in aspspider.com's forums. Aspspider.com doesn't attach the databases from app_code folder automatically, instead we have to attach databases ourselves and correct the connection string according to aspspider.com's Forum.
If you are facing the same problem with aspspider.com, Please check AspSpider.com's forum its all mentioned there and there is not any requirement of changing user permissions on databases created locally using your VS.
I hope someday this would help someone out there!!
I have installed Windows Server AppFabric and I can now not run even the most basic WCF Workflow Service Application. I have gone through the configuration and setup databases for the persistence store, monitor and cache which worked ok.
So I have stripped it back and just created and run an empty WCF Workflow Service Application. When I click on the Service1.xaml file I get the error below.
I have checked the databases and I have dbowner access to all of them (have substituted my real logon details here).
I am using VS2010 with .NET 4 update 1.

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:4.0.30319; ASP.NET Version:4.0.30319.272
The AppFabric configuration tool updates the web.config file in at this location only
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Config\web.config
When building with the "Any CPU" option as I was you must manually edit this file
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Config\web.config
With these settings (from the Framework64 version)
<connectionStrings>
<add connectionString="Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=AppFabricMonitoringDB;Integrated Security=True" name="ApplicationServerMonitoringConnectionString" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<add connectionString="Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=AppFabricPersistenceDB;Integrated Security=True" name="ApplicationServerWorkflowInstanceStoreConnectionString" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>
They were previously set to the default
<connectionStrings>
<add connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=AppFabricMonitoringDB;Integrated Security=True" name="ApplicationServerMonitoringConnectionString" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<add connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=AppFabricPersistenceDB;Integrated Security=True" name="ApplicationServerWorkflowInstanceStoreConnectionString" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>

From http://www.connectionstrings.com/ :
Server=myServerAddress;Database=myDataBase;
User ID=myUsername;Password=myPassword;Trusted_Connection=False;
I would try setting Trusted_Connection=False and see what happens.
Generally when I see that error it is because my connection string is incorrect or the database is down / inaccessible, but I'm sure there are other potential causes.
