I was wondering if it is possible to crop an swf file through a program that doesn't convert the swf to anything.
I've seen a few programs like this online, but none of them actually work. Has anyone has success with this?

Do you need to alter its dimensions or its length? If it's the dimensions you want to change then it could be as easy as changing the width and height parameters of your embed code, or loading the swf into another one and displaying it behind a mask that shows only the parts you want to show. No change necessary inside the actual swf.
But maybe you meant something else? The width and height of an swf are coded inside it and could be changed with some editor, like a hex editor. But then you would have to know where the bytes are that you need to change.

I am trying to save a pdf from illustrator and I have never had this issue, the font looks fine in illustrator, but when I save the pdf and open the pdf in a pdf viewer the "i" character now has a box beneath the text but the dot of the i stays there.

I know that when the square shows up it means the font you are trying to use isn't there however the other characters appear fine, it just seems to be the I which is odd. The font passed verification (for reference it is Playfair Display
Does anyone know how to fix this or why this could be occurring? Am I exporting wrong(I've never had this issue before with exporting)?

Update: I solved my question while writing it. The font that was installed was a variable font type (I downloaded it from Google), for some reason it doesn't seem to want to play nicely in a pdf (maybe I'm saving it incorrectly?). I deleted the variable font and installed the static versions of the font and now the issue has gone away.
I don't know too much about variable fonts but it seems like they are maybe a bit finicky?

I have a PDF that has some dotted lines that I want to convert into a fillable multi-line field. I tried the solution in the linked question, but my setting is not staying when I try to fill in the field outside of Acrobat.
When I am preparing the form inside Acrobat, I set the line height to 30 and it is lining up fine:
But when I save this PDF and then try to fill in the field outside of Acrobat, the line height setting does not stay. It gets reset every time:
It's super frustrating and I have scoured the internet looking for an answer but I have nothing yet. If someone knows what to do to get the line height looking like the first screenshot, please save my sanity.
I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2021.001.20135 on macOS 10.14.6.

You can't. Those settings don't "stick" when the field is cleared and there's no way to set them programmatically. It's best to simply remove the lines from the PDF.
As #joelgeraci stated, the settings don't stick.
However, if the form has to be manually fillable, removing the writing lines may not be the best idea. In this situation, it would be better to change the field's background color. When the field has no content, its background color is transparent, otherwise white. And that will cover the writing lines.
I'm using iText with Java to create a PDF file. I'm trying to place a paragraph on left, and float an image on right (e.g. next to each other). Using the following code does insert the image, but it also makes the text fuzzy on the entire page (other pages are fine).

If I remove the image portion of the code, the text looks clean. This is my first attempt at adding an image next to text. Must be doing something obviously wrong. Any idea what could cause this?
I was able to solve this problem. The code above is perfectly fine. The problem was I was using a PNG image with transparency. When I removed the transparency (by re-exporting the image from Illustrator with transparency turned off), I was able to create PDFs with clear text.
I think the transparency forces the PDF page to be written in CMYK color scheme rather than RGB, which perhaps causes this issue.
Hope this helps someone else. I searched everywhere but couldn't find any leads talking about fuzzy text in iText.
I'm trying to use pdf content (mathematics) in my webpage. I basically want to convert the pdf to some vector image. Converting the pdf to swf does the job very well, but as flash isn't supported on every platform, I'm trying to find another solution.
I read about svg, but as those pdf's contain a lot of mathematics, the result of the converters I found is really ugly and incorrect.
I've also thought about retyping the latex, and displaying it using mathjax, in some way this is the best solution, but also very time consuming.
The only thing I want is to convert it to a nice vector image, I don't want to change the content, or anything else. Besides converting to swf or retyping it, is there any other solution ?

The only solution I could find is illustrator.
Just open the pdf, save as svg, and choose to embed all used glyphs.

what about using flash + raster image in case of platform without flash, if flash mostly works for you?
Your PDF is a little difficult for reasons that are probably not apparent to you.
The core problem with it is that some of the graphics in the document are actually drawn using custom glyphs. You can see this if you copy and paste the text out of Acrobat. There are a variety of unusual characters in there that don't seem to serve any useful purpose. That's those squares at the bottom of your SVG with EEs and FFs in them.
However these characters are actually custom glyphs for things like the braces around the matrices at the bottom of the page. So they are both fairly important and also very specific to this document.
I tried ABCpdf .NET to convert your PDF to SVG. It worked fine apart from these custom glyphs at the bottom. The output was about 90KB. It looked very similar to your inkscape SVG output but just a bit smaller (the inkscape one is 160KB).
The only way to get rid of these non-Unicode glyphs is to vectorize the text. I did this using ABCpdf and the output looked fine in SVG. But... vectorized text is big and SVG isn't a particularly efficient medium. The output was about 1MB! Zipped it goes down to half that but it's still no-where near as efficient as the original PDF.
The problems I am seeing here are going to be universal whatever format you use. These custom characters are always going to be problematic whether you output to SVG, SWF, HTML canvas, VML or indeed any vector format.
So what would I suggest? Well the obvious vector format that is widely used on the web is... PDF!
I know it's not quite what you're looking for but I think this is the realistic solution given the constraints above. :-)

So if I got you right, what you want is to remove some text from your PDF (not fonts), and you want to do it programmatically. I suspect you know already that this will only possible if the text is placed on some kind of separate layer in your PDF files. You can try to utilize iText for that. Beware, this will mean you will have to invest some days of learning how to use that library.
I too am the lookout for something like that.
While playing with imagemagick I tried this a command and got some unexpected results.
convert -input.pdf -blur 0x0 output.jpg
this removes the text layers from the pdfs I tried.
I cannot guarantee that this will work for you and if this the right way to achieve, but you may try.
You can do that with Adobe Acrobat. Select the text with the touch up tool and delete it. I don't think you can do that with Ghostscript. You could consider editing the PDF by hand (qpdf helps).
