Installing Sql Management Studio Express in English - sql

I have a French OS (XP) and also "Microsoft Sql Management Studio Express" that is in French.
Now, I decided to install the English version of this software.
So, I downloaded the English version of the Studio. Finished the installation, but it is always in French...
Why? How to "fix" it?

I should use "Your Uninstaller" to have the "really" complete list of installed software. Apparently is not the case with "Add and Remove Programs" util.
After that I saw two instances of Management Studio... I uninstalled both and reinstalled the English one. Now, I have a English version of the software.

VS 2012 sql compare tool as standalone

VS 2012 has an excellent support for comparing database projects and databases.
I'm wondering if there is a standalone version for the respective software to use on a deployment machine - or some other way to use it without having to install the whole of visual studio.
You can install just the SSDT for SQL Project bits on a machine. That does not require a full install of either Visual Studio or SQL Server. You can generally keep an eye on the SSDT Blog for the latest release news. You can find that at: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ssdt/
At this time, the most recent release is the October 2013 release.
As noted in the various articles, you may need to make an Administrative Install Point if your target machine does not have internet access. Follow the instructions in the article and you should be fine.
I've written some articles about this on my blog at http://schottsql.blogspot.com if you look up the label for SSDT.

Sharepoint 2010 installation preliminaries

First of all sorry if this is a repost or is found to be duplicate.
I'm about to install sharepoint 2010 in my laptop for development. I'm using a laptop with win 7 64-bit with 8GB RAM, with vs 2010 installed.
I'm having SP2010 with SP1 standard license.
Have went to lot of pre-requisite advisory pages but haven't got a satisfactory/complete answer and hence decided to pen down my doubts here.
Below are my queries
Can i start by auto-running the CD (sorry if it sounds a lot stupid. kindly take note that i'm at beginning stage of SP2010 with VS programming background).
Can i connect to sql server 2005 (32-bit) from sp2010 after installation for programming. Is it possible technically.
Should i need to install sql 2005/2008 (64-bit) before installing SP2010 or can i install it after completing installation of SP2010.
PLEASE provide pointers if any so that i can have a hiccup free, successful installation of sp2010.
Edit:
Have downloaded a bunch of files from the below url
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=27417
Can anyone advise which virtual machine i should use to run the vhd image for sp2010
Thanks :)
Installing on Windows 7 is not recommended and tends to run into some incompatibilities. Can you use a virtual machine? Here is a link which is useful for Win 7 installation.
Answering your questions:
You can install from the DVD or a mounted Image.
You can use SQL 2005 but only 64Bit.
You should install SQL server before installing SharePoint so it will be more automated

Where to download SQL Server Management Studio 2008 (not express version)?

Where can I download that? All I can find is the express version. I bought the SQL Server Developer 2008, but the Studio wasnt installed along with it...
Thanks
SSMS is ALWAYS part of any non-express edition including DEV edition (I mean you dont need to download it seperately).
When you install SQL Server Dev. (or any other non-express edition), during setup process you will come across a screen where you can select which components to install (e.g. SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, BIDS, BOL etc). In that step you will need to select SSMS to get it installed.
For some reason if you have skipped that step you can run setup again and just install SSMS only.
But I dont think there is any seperate download available for "normal" SSMS.
This is an annoyance because access to SQL Server from a workstation is necessary and the only way (as previous posters mentioned) is to use the full SQL Server licensed installation package.
You'll run the setup to install as though you're installing the full database. In some cases, setup will detect that you'll need to first install some dependencies. When you come to the Feature Selection, you can select the Management Tools only.

You can download eval version from this link -
http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/trial-software.aspx
The express edition are the free versions.
The express version is the free version. If you want another version you need to buy it. My best guess is that it is included in one of those packages on in the microsoft store.
EDIT
According to a forum:
I`m not sure what you mean - you ask
for Management Studio and there is a
download link for SQL Server
Management Studio Express.
Or will you buy a SQL Server Standard,
Enterprise or Datacenter Edition -
then you have the "normal" SQL Server
Management Studio.

Can't install SQL Server after Visual Studio Express

I'm trying to re-install SQL Server Express from http://www.microsoft.com/express/Database/.
Visual Studio Web was installed previously, so I removed the SQL Server under add programs before installation, since I didn't get a server administration tool with the bundle.
Now, Microsoft (hello, haven't meet in five years), presents an interface to me (SQL Server Installation Center), with endless popups, progress bars, and eula checkboxes, but nothing more than "Setup Support Files" are being installed.
Are they pulling my leg? (Delicate humor if so, the loop is quite annoying, and finally ends with a crash).
Any way to fix this or should I fallback to a FOSS-db?

Get the Web Platform Installer. Best case scenario is it will help you get what you need installed (inc. SQL EXPRESS) on top of what you have. Worst case it'll make the process a lot easier if you decide to do a clean build.

Business Intelligence Development Studio

I can't find Business Intelligence Development Studio in Sql Server 2005.
I have installed Visual Studio 2008 and Sql Server 2005 Standard edition.
How can i view
You can tell if it is installed by looking at "new project" in Visual Studio. Do you have BI projects available?
If so, this is it. You can now develop BI stuff.
If not, did you check the box under client tools when installing? Run install again.
BIDS isn't a separate install but a Visual Studio plug-in
You do need to select it when installing though. You could probably run a reinstall and add it if you don't have it already.
while installing, you might have not selected the feature. in this case, re run the Installation process.
You Must Install SSDT(Sql Server Data Tools) Tools
When you Installed that , and you want Create New Project, you must see Business Intelligence Section in part of Template
