Rails is giving me a route error even though the route appears to
be in the route list.
The form is doing a Post to try to hit the update route on the Admin::ProductsController.
The edit route, index route, and show route work fine.
Using Rails 3.0.5 and ruby 1.9.2
Anyone have an idea? I can't seem to see the problem.

According to your routes, shouldn't that be
= form_for [:admin, #product] do |f|
Your form_for can just be:
<%= form_for #product do |f| %>
If #product is an existing object then it will automatically know to go the update action of the ProductsController.

I'm trying to write a blog in Rails 3, so I have posts. I want to make nice routes for the posts like this: posts/year/month/day/post-title. So I overrided to_param in model/post.rb and use friendly_id for title:

And I added this to routes.rb:

In show this works:

But in index it says
routing error:
No route matches {:action=>"edit", :controller=>"posts"}.
I'm new to Rails and I haven't managed to find out what causes this error. Can anyone help me figure out what I do wrong?
OK, I've been having relative success with RESTful authentication. I followed this tutorial to add the capability to change the password. The problem is that tutorial is written for rails 2.3 and I'm using rails 3.
The code used in my controller and view are exactly as they are in the tutorial
I added to routes.rb:
match '/change_password' => 'users#change_password', :as => :change_password
resources :users, :controller => 'users', :collection => {:change_password_update => :put}
Now i get this error: undefined method `change_password_update_user_path'
the comments to the tutorial mentioned that exact error, and they said the solution is in the routing, but given the routing differences between 2.3 and 3, I'm really just guessing what needs to go in there. Any idea how i can get this working?
all i had to do is change

to
<% form_tag '/change_password_update', :method => :put do |f| %>
and put this in my routes.rb

I've been reading over this resource as well as this post to try to understand Routes more (currently learning programming/Rails by doing) but am wondering how I can fix the error I'm getting, which is No route matches {:controller=>"profiles", :action=>"show"}.
I get the error working my way through a Rails 3 sign-up process using nested model forms. The sign-up process, as follows:
user = User.new
user.email = ""
user.password = ""
user.profile = Profile.new
user.profile.save
user.save
The sign-up process starts at the homepage with the following form:

Then the process goes to fill in the profile, then redirect to the new User's profile after this form is completed:

I have accepts_nested_attributes_for :user and :profile in their respective models.
My rails server it gives me a bit more detail:

So in my ProfilesController in 'create':

The redirect path should contain the specific profile to redirect to:
if #profile.save
redirect_to profile_path(#profile), :notice => 'User successfully added.'
else
.....
Also the routes should include this line:
get "/profiles/:id" => "profiles#show", as => "profile"

I have a file test.html.erb and have also added get "users/test" to routes.rb still i'm getting Error: No route matches "/users/test"
The form_tag method creates a form to be send using HTTP POST by default. You state that the route you define in your routes.rb is a GET. So you have two options to fix this problem:
Change your route to POST "users/test"
Change your form_tag call to: form_tag({:controller => 'users', :action => 'test'}, :method => :get)
I am a little confused on how to set the route for a custom action. I have the following link in my view:

Which also has not worked. How do I set the route correctly?
You've created a route, but it is not named. Does this work?
match '/tasks/:id/finish', :to => 'tasks#finish', :as => 'finish_task'
Have a look at the output of rake routes to ensure your routes are being declared as you want.
